I love the addition of leaderboards in Swap Force, but you can only see scores from your own friends and on your own platform. I thought it might be fun to have a thread that shows the best performances from the Dark Spyro Community, so we all know who’s the very best (the best there ever was).
A few rules:
* To submit a score to the scoreboard, just post the game mode, level name and your score in the thread below, and if it’s better than a score already posted, you’ll get the spot!
* If possible, contenders should add their tag/friend codes to the relevant leaderboard thread here on the forums, so other forum members can see the score is real.
* If you have a good reason you can’t share tag/friend codes (like, you’re really young or your console is always off-line), you can submit a score just by typing your details below.
* If you chose not to share your gamer tag and your score is unusually awesome, you might need to need to provide a photo of your tv screen showing off your awesome skillz.

So, to start with I’ve populated the scoreboards with scores from the XBOX One playerbase (since those are the ones I can see). Feel free to start submitting your own scores and I’ll update the leaderboard to show off your awesome performances!

Bonus Missions:
Okay, before I post up the Bonus Mission scores, we have to decide on the rules. There is a well-known exploit where you can set the difficulty to hard or nightmare, start a Bonus Mission, drop the difficulty to easy and then finish the map for a massive score bump. This works because Bonus Missions give you extra points for finishing quickly, nightmare/hard mode gives you extra time because fighting takes longer and adjusting the difficulty inside the mission leaves you with whatever time limit you had when you started. Problem is, it’s difficult (or impossible) to tell who has used this exploit. And people like myself have used it to get the accolade and unlock portal master rank, ever expecting that it would be used in a scoreboard situation. So we have options: A: Don’t list Bonus Mission Scores at all B: List Bonus Missions and try to exclude the exploited scores C: List Bonus Missions and accept ALL scores as legitimate (meaning we expect everyone to use the exploit if they want to compete on this leaderboard). Cast your vote below! |

Thx Tel Prydain! This looks to be a cool topic and I will be sure to use this in the future. For now, I think we should just exclude the bonus mission scores, it seems to be the best option as of now.

I'd like to play this mode more(and maybe even on lower difficulties, it'd be fun to see how fast it's possible to go through levels on Easy), but I got sick of skipping dialogue.

It's my favorite mode too... But holy crap, mate! 1 Minute, ten seconds?!?! Holy motherflipping cheese-snacks! I mean... that is mental! I can't even get below 3 minutes, and you're one third of that! I know what I'm playing when I get home - if only to figure out how you even achieved that. Quote: blueruckus

I just had really good luck with the clocks dropping that run. I tried to beat that record once and I couldn't get near it again... Maybe I'll try to top it again sometime later. By the way, I used Wind-Up to get that record(imagine if I had used Magna Jet with his clock-attracting power, yeesh, I probably could have gotten under a minute).
I'm hoping some people find sequence-breaking glitches soon because I would like to attempt a speedrun of the game.

I was actually wondering about that... I think tonight I'll try switching all my legendary treasures to “+Luck” and see if it improves the clock drop-rate.
If it does, getting the right combo of +luck and +speed will be vital to getting good scores. |

Welcome two new challengers! Your scores have been added to the leaderboards… a lot. Great work!
Also, thanks for the WII U Friend thread – I’ve added the link to the OP. I didn’t do a Team Arena one because I figured that’d be the least played mode, and also (more importantly) I can’t see those leaderboards. If you can be bothered noting all the scores you can see for that mode, I can add it… I just expect you won’t get a lot of competition. |

Welcome to the score board, Jeramia - You've snatched the top spot on that level from Pyro16!
Just to confirm - we've all decided the 'side missions' should not be used due to the exploit? If y'all agree on that, I'll move the team arena scores to their own post. Otherwise I have the current XBOX ONE leaderboards ready to post. |

Don't want to start a new thread for this, but does anyone know how Activision does ranking for story mode? Difficulty only? Combination of Difficulty, Time, Score values?
By the way, just starting time/score modes...will post scores in a bit... Tel, I know you have moved off of PS3, but my scores will be there and I believe I've added your PS3 name to my system (for confirmation purposes).

I found it accidently when my brother and his daughter came to visit me – I dropped the difficulty for my niece to play while I talked to her father, and next thing I knew she had 3-stared a mission I’d been struggling with. Sorry, mate – not quite sure what you’re asking here. If you’re asking about what needs to happen on your console to share your score, I think the way it works on Xbox One is that when you friend/follow someone they see your scores. So if you friend people, your scores will appear on their leaderboard, even if they don’t follow you back. |

EHEHEHEHEHEH.
Done with Nitro Magna Jet (Magnetic Armaments/Ace Gunner) on Nightmare mode. This was the first run I attempted with him... You'll probably see this record beaten again before the end of the day, since I actually made a bunch of mistakes in this run(but I had good luck with getting clocks from Chompies). Once I perfect it I think I can get somewhere between 10-20 seconds. Should you guys think it's okay to TA on Easy Mode? I'm reaaaally curious to see how low I can get it there... But I think this is more fun on Nightmare... Off-topic, but what's a good, free photo-hosting site? According to imageshack my "free trial" expires tomorrow, and I have no idea what that means, but I'm guessing it means I won't be able to upload there anymore. I haven't really had time to look for somewhere else to host pictures, and I can't use Photobucket because it's glitchy on the iPad. Edit: I got a NEW record of 0:10.29, but no pics because I'm confident I can top this run... Just want to confirm for the record that you can get the score meter that low... I also had about 01:20 left on the clock-freezer. AND I DID. BOO-YAH. I've figured out that in this level your main worry is how fast you can kill the Chompies at the start and get clocks from them- what time your timer has at that moment... After that and after grabbing the first thirty-second clock, the rest is pretty easy and more than likely you can just maintain the same time up to the end, especially after grabbing the next thirty-second clock... So speedrunning this level isn't really interesting and just hinges on how lucky you are at the start... I actually managed to catch it as low as 4 seconds once, but I ended up being too cocky and then dying in that run. In retrospect, I wish I had compromised and used Magna Shift to finish the run instead of quitting, because it would have been amazing to have a four-second run. But I didn't know how lucky I really was to get that low. I'll try to do it again someday. --- Level guide(using Magna Jet): Really simple. At the start use Mach 2 to speed up and then jump up the little slope. After the Gobble Pod cutscene starts fire your magnet cannon at the Chompies so you can get clocks and activate your magnetic field as fast as you can so that you collect all the clocks they might drop. Your time hinges on this very first segment. If you're good at this stage, you can keep the time you get right at the start here and finish the stage with it. Push the block on the right over to the left once, then jump onto the block, and jump across the wide gap onto the other block. From here jump to the left, speed up just enough to attract in a 30-second clock and turn back, then jump onto the block and to the Spark Plug gate. Finish the Spark Plug and when that's done re-activate your magnetic field. Just run past the Greebles. They're totally skippable and you don't need clocks from them anyway. Make a sharp turn towards Snagglescale and co, skip this cutscene then run into the bamboo fence and it gets destroyed quickly. Whatever you're holding in your magnetic field, you can toss it on the Greebles in this section, you can also spam your cannon or use Mach 2 and pretty much instantly knock them out... Thanks to your elemental advantage this area is very easy. Once you beat this bunch of enemies continue forward, head to the right, enter the cave, and when you're in the cave activate your magnetic field and quickly dash out again(you'll collect a 30-second clock in there). Go down the regular pathway after this and just rush up to the block puzzle as fast as you can. Make sure that your magnetic field is activated and go near a cliff in the top-left corner to collect another 30-second clock. Push the block on the right up once, then push the other block to the right as much as you need(you can leave one gap of space and still make the jump). Use the Magic Circle. Activate your magnetic field in the next area and go towards the left to collect a 30-second clock. Skip the dialogue and beat the enemies as fast as you can. A good strategy is to use the Gobble Pods to your advantage. You can toss enemies towards them with your magnetic field if you have to. In the next area head towards the left and enter a cave. You can get a 30-second clock with your magnet here. Exit the cave and continue down the regular path. Skip all of the Greebles and instead just use your magnetic field to attract two 30-second clocks(one on the left and one on the right). Enter the cave, make sure your magnet is active because you can find a 30-second clock here. Continue down the path, solve the Spark Plug, make sure your magnet is active because there are two 30-second timers you'll attract right after the Spark Plug. As usual skip the Greebles. Rush to the block puzzle in the next area, finish it and use the Magic Circle. Make sure your magnet is active here- you can attract a 30-second clock in, from a cliff thats to the left of the cave entrance. And again skip the Greebles and just enter the cave. Just go forward normally, make sure your magnet is active to attract a 30-second clock, and kill the Chompies and you may get some clocks. At this point, you don't really need more, though. Skip the Greebles here, finish the Spark Plug, then just kill the enemies in the final area as fast as you can. Use the Gobble Pods to your advantage. If you do this well, you'll still have plenty of time left on your freezer. And finish the stage as normal, done. --- I think that Magna is just broken, really. It's so easy to grab clocks with him that it's just ridiculous. I think you should combine either Shift or Jet with him- Shift seems slightly faster to me and Underbat is good if you're planning to do multiple runs and don't want to waste time resetting if you die... but Jet is easier to control and down Ace Gunner Mach 2 doubles as a great spammable melee attack, so Jet has better offense. Now, I think it's time to...

I'm a girl, not a man ;P
... anyway played mudwater hollow ... ... ... ... ... lol LOOK AT ALL THAT EXP LYING ON THE GROUND ON THE LEFT N' AT THE BOTTOM. Nitro Magna Jet, Nightmare Mode. I made a number of small screw-ups during this run but I'm going to work on perfecting it and I'll beat this score. I'm happy with this so far. I think I can get 3:40 and if I really get it down-pat I can probably reach 3:30 or less. I can't shake the feeling that I could change something in my run to improve my possible score, though... Okay, now decided to do Mount Cloudbreak. This was my first run, so it definetly has room for improvement. I reckon I can get 1:05-1:10.

Pfft - your gender is irrelevant - what matters is that you've wiped me off of the time-trial leader-board all together, you assassin you. Okay, so how much time do you spend killing things to get time-tokens? Is that a big part of your scoring? |

Usually not, unless they're Chompies- I say skip any enemies that you can, besides a bunch of Chompies, because I usually find if I run into a bunch of them at least one drops a clock and they're fast enough to kill. Since clocks are luck-based, I don't find it worthwhile to kill other enemies in the hope that they drop clocks. It's just faster to run past them, for the most part. I actually focus more on breaking objects like barrels and crates to get clocks.
You need to focus on every little thing to save as much time as possible. Don't think having the clock frozen means you can spend time dillydallying. Figure out a path to go through the level, collecting as many clocks as you need while being able to get through fast and become better and better at it, and keep playing that level with the same path so you can hopefully get better luck with clock drops, and a better score. You don't need to collect every last clock but if you can get a clock that will save even a few seconds then go for it. It adds up, and even shaving a few seconds from your score can be a huge improvement. It may not sound like it, but when you've really perfected your speedrunning then that's just how it is, and you need to do the best you possibly can to be able to compete seriously. Also, figure out every little mechanic, and think about wether you can speed up a sequence somehow. Figure out how quickly you can do everything and memorise the level, and build your strategy around that- and then memorise your strategy and just keep working on it. New record for Mudwater Hollow. This was a very good run, and I had good luck with the clocks, but I think it can be improved some more. I still have to familiarise myself with some parts of the level. I think 3:15-3:20 is possible.
