here people can come with their cheats and game tips for skylander....


the money cheat:
when you have done 'crystal eye' castle level (level 8) you will find two tents and a camp fire on the beach in the home world. if you put the fire out the first time you will get 300 gold subsequently if you light or put out the fire second time you will get 1 gold. now here comes the interesting part get any fire character and stand him in the middle of the fire then get a water character (gill grunt is the best as he comes with the starter pack and has infinite water gun) and continuously wet the fire. the result is a wonderful money fountain. you won't be able to do this forever after you complete the 'falling forest' level (level 11) the campsite disappears.

what you need:
1) two controllers on playing coop.
2) one fire character and one water character (gill grunt)

this cheat works with x360,ps3,pc (not sure about the wii) but not on the 3ds version of the game.

warning:
if you conjure too much treasure the game wont be able to keep up with the animation and the quantity of money, this will lead to slow downs in animation and music. the portal of power may tilt and the game also may freeze. some of the treasure will land on top of the tent and are out of reach. so it is best to exit the game and start all over at the beach after you have wet the fire a couple of times. just remember to take of your figurines so they save the money you have collected.

note:
the pc version you can have more coins/diamonds on the screen without crashing the game, but it will also crash at some point. if you do more than 1000 coins/diamonds. the console version is ca 600 coins/diamonds max...

game tip: (fast leveling characters at level1 and a lot of money to be found)

if you have played the game for a while and have a few characters you have not started on yet. then you can go to the 'crawling catacombs' level (level 15). this is a good place to level up your character and get a lot of money.

Tried the campfire money cheat on the Wii and it didn't work.

About the leveling tips: Lair of Kaos is a much better grinding place overall. I got quite a lot of money as well as EXP during my playthrough there.

The money cheat indicated here does not work on Wii!!!! : (

One tip I struggled with (XBox 360 version, but it may apply to others) in regards to having multiple save game files:

If you introduce a new Skylander to your game, it will be "owned" by the save game file you are playing. In my case, a few of our Skylanders were introduced in my daughter's save and did not show up in my Skylanders collection (from the Start button menu during the game).

In order to make the Skylander show up in both game save, you can hit the character menu (select key) and change the ownership of the Skylander while you're playing a save game that doesn't have that Skylander in its collection yet. It will then show up as a new Skylander to your game save and the challenge will appear in your challenges list. This will not remove the Skylander/challenge from the other save file, so you can now have all your Skylanders show up in both your save files.

Why would you care?
1) It makes all your Skylanders show up in the collection page instead of spread between multiple game files,
2) It adds the challenges for all Skylanders to Cali's list of challenges instead of spreading those out between multiple game files,
3) You get an elemental power bonus for having multiple Skylanders of a single element. (+7 for each different Skylander, variations do not count). So for optimal strength, make sure you have as many Skylanders collected in the game as possible.

Character skin hack:
This was propsed by someone else here a while back, and I gave it try.
What you do is you start up Skylanders, alt tab out, and go into your activision file folder on your C drive. Then you look for the minionmonsters folder, open it, and go into characters. Inside are names of Skylanders characters and some of the monsters. What you do it you change the name of the character you've got on the portal to that of another character (ie chage 'gillgrunt' to 'stealtelf', and change the name of the character you want to that of that character you have ('stealthelf' to 'gillgrunt'). Go back into the game, and you will see that your skylander hasn't chaged yet. Lift the toy from the portal and put it back down. The into animation will be skipped, and your character stats (level, gold, name) will stay the same, but your skin will change to the character you chose.

Bear in mind that this is a purely cosmetic change. You cannot operate elemental portals or even attack, you simply look like a different character. Also, keep track of which character you change; I recommend you change one character to another, back again, THEN to a new character. Also, be aware that character file names do not always match those of the actual character. In some cases they do (Gill Grunt is 'gillgrunt' and Stealth Elf is 'stealthelf') but sometimes they don't (Ghost Roaster is 'ghosteater').

find all the 10 blue butterflies and you will get 20% discount on upgrades at persephone...(shop in the homeworld)

1. You automatically get the first one.
2. Oil the robot on the beach to open the cave, one is in there.
3. When you open the area to the train tracks you automatically get one.
4. Bombing the caved in wall by the tracks nets you one.
5. Carrying a bomb up to the hole by the train drops you into the robot cave netting you one.
6. Shooting the rock that appears after getting Arbo gets you one.
7. In the water by the bombing robot you can jump up 4-5 jump pads and find one.
8. Automatically get when the beach gates open up.
9. oiling the train
10. after you get the eternal magic source the last one is behind the locked gate on the beach, do the puzzle to unlock it...

i have done a map over 'Stealth Elf's Heroic Challenge'... the fastest way, now everyone should be able to do it, with any level 1 character and no upgrade.. (some practice is needed with the stealth elf first)

I did the money cheat on my PS3 and it worked great! Except it would start trying to put my characters back on the portal again every few steps I took if I made too much money, hahahah.

It seems that the XBOX money cheat was fixed before i got my Game. :-(

Does this cheat really work only on the Wii?
I saw another video on youtube for this cheat and some people said in their comments that it also works on XBOX360, PS3 and PC...
I have the PS3 version.
Does anyone know if it's really possible to use this cheat on other consoles than Wii?

no dragon chest will ever pop up in the homeland of the ps3 version....

here is some tip on one of the hardest achievement/trophies of skylanders... 'tag me if you can'...

If you guys want the best cheat for skylanders I posted a new one earlier today on the forum. Ive only tried it on xbox360 so tell me if it works for other systems. Hope it helps
