Welcom to the fifth part of The Missing s. Like always, this RP is based on animals that are believed to be extinct, but there is not enough evidence to support the claim. In the Haven, an island somewhere near the south Pacific, animals hiding from human view take residents here, a place where it is practically impossible for human beings to arrive due to the strong winds above and the exceptionally strong current around the island. A second island, Hunted Island, is for residents that are not necessarily endangered, but are exploited and overly hunted by humans. You can be an animal that fit these categories, or a native animal, such as a warbler, pelican, seagull, orca or perhaps even an outcast mongoose or dingo. New animals (who know about the sanctuary thanks to the native birds sending the message all around the world), arrive via orca whales or through flying if they can. Unfortunately, because of a drought that has befallen both islands, it has been quarantined, but will it be enough to stop new residents from arriving?

Only two weeks have passed since The Haven Chronicle’s ending, and Sybil the Malabar civet, the administrator and creator of the Haven, has been really busy lately. The drought is hitting harder, food is getting scarcer, and what is worst, Light Beach will begin soon. Although most of the orcas have migrated to prevent the lack of food from making them turn against the Haven residents, three orcas have stayed behind, including the leader Jet, and even though the wetland’s lake has had enough fish so far to support most of the carnivores, one daily fish for the marine animals is not enough, not to mention that this has decreased the fish’s numbers quite severely. Since Light Beach, a light spectacle created by bioluminescent microorganism, is very distracting. Not only does Sybil has to prevent the Haven residents from approaching the potentially dangerous waters, but she also needs to monitor the land carnivores and see if their basic, predatory instincts take over and injure the other residents, since it already happened to Rose, a currently tied Siberian tiger who is Sybil’s successor. How will she manage it? Will she receive enough help? And even in that dire time, will she still receive new guests?

The Haven residents…

Name: Sybil
Species: Malabar civet
Personality: Creator of the Haven. She’s very sweet in nature, but can be too stubborn. She can be easily stressed depending on a situation, especially due to a secret she's been keeping from everybody, but despite all, she always manages to solve all problems with a little help and intelligence, though this is sometimes debatable.
Goal: To have everybody happy at the Haven and maintain the peace and order on the island

Name: Mambo
Species: Kea parrot
Personality: Leader of the keas. He is extremely mischievous and playful, he would do practically anything for a good prank and a great time. Cares deeply about his flock, and never question Sybil’s decisions. He’s very mature and responsible when he needs to be. He’s almost always under the companionship by his bulky bodyguard Cole, and Cole’s naughty and uptight sister Cheryl
Goal: Help Sybil maintain order and peace… and have fun.

Name: Cairo
Species: Killer whale (orca)
Personality: Former leader of the orca whales, even though some of the pod still looks up to him for guidance. He is a gentle giant, with a huge affection for Sybil and a fondness for almost every Haven resident, especially Rose. He is currently in the Antarctica, acting as a temporary leader to the migrating orcas until the drought is over and they can return to the Haven.
Goal: To be of service to the pod and the Haven residents once he returns. But for now, guide the pod.

Name: Yodel
Species: Warbler
Personality: He’s very bitter and more of an anti-villain. He fights with Sybil a lot, and gets every occasion to antagonize her when he wants to, even during the drought. Like all the birds, he helps her with errands, but only because he doesn’t want to go against the other warblers, who are very loyal to her.
Goal: To make Sybil’s life as miserable as possible. This sometimes extends to the other residents, in particular the tied up Rose.

Name: Sholeh
Species: Ruddy mongoose
Personality: Once an antagonist, she is now the only mongoose living inside the Haven, with Rose’s permission. Thanks to a deal, she can feast on abandoned warbler eggs. She is less bitter than before, but she still wants to be left alone.
Goal: To antagonize Sybil if she can and avoid the constant attentions of Terrence Jr.

Name: Warren
Species: Vulture
Personality: A kind and clumsy vulture who is exceedingly loyal to Sholeh, despite her mistreating him most of the time. He also acts as a flying steed for her. Unlike the mongoose, he gets along very well with Sybil and the other Haven residents, and doesn’t mean them any harm. Currently, since Sholeh doesn’t seem to need him as much as before, he spends much of his time at the outback looking after a friend.
Goal: To be happy, accepted and help Saris the banished monitor.

Hunted Island residents…

Barloc: Leader of the cockatoos. He despises predators above else, and is usually mean and bitter, though he means well. He was learning to trust Rose, Sayan, and the other predators at the Haven, but now with the drought, he is more bitter and distrustful due to an event of his past.

Kali: Barloc’s wife and voice of reason. She takes most of the decisions. Unlike him, he is very trusting of everybody at the Haven and loves nothing more than to be helpful.

Nia: Barloc and Kali’s daughter, and extremely mischievous. She loves danger, much to her parent’s dismay, and usually runs off to play and find adventure.

Angus: Nia’s cousin, and son of Barloc’s deceased brother. Although he is usually as carefree and fun as his cousin, he goes on the more cautious side, but sometimes has to put up with Nia’s love for danger.

Whirlpool: A wombat with a heart of gold and possibly the smartest, wisest and most knowledgeable residents of both islands despite his speech impediment. He lives in a tunnel that looks like a labyrinth, and has as a guest Jack the Chimpanzee and Sunflame, and injured serval that they are both treating.

Now remember you returning users to post your characters once more, giving descriptions of how they were and how they are now, and how they are dealing with the drought. As for you new users, choose your characters carefully, and if they are going to be transported through an orca, you can control them if you like, and you must decide whether it’s going to be a stranded orca or if it’s going to return to the Antarctica.

Name: Sayan
Gender: Male
Species: Amur Leopard [info] [more info]
Appearance: Adult leopard [image] with some old scars resulting from prior shock collar usage; also newer scars received while watching over Rose
Personality: He is cautious and has some trust issues due to his previous experience with the humans. However, the Haven has proved to be quite helpful causing him to slowly shred his solitary status over time. He had grown to become a trustworthy individual-- willing to do anything to protect those he considers his friends and the Haven as a whole. He has even gained a mate in the form of Rose; a siberian tiger and successor to the Haven.

Goal: To protect and look after his mate, the Haven, and its residents. So far, he has managed to hold back his instincts but has become noticeably skinnier as the drought progresses.

History: Prior to his first stay at the Haven, Sayan was held in a zoo along with a female named Milena. They were potential mates, though the humans limited their interaction. For unknown reasons, she developed an life-threatening disease. Their caretakers tried to help her, but there was nothing they could do. They kept the two separated and Sayan was forced to watch as Milena suffered through the disease. One day the humans injected her with something and she slowly fell asleep... never to wake-up again. This is when he took his chance and escaped to the Haven. He hoped to find another of his kind, so that he may no longer be alone. However, he felt unsafe and out-of-place. Thus, he decided to leave and return to the mainland of Russia. He survived in the wild for a bit until he got captured. It was then that he was sold to a wealthy Russian as an exotic pet. He was caged, collared, mistreated, and abused in various ways. Out of pure desperation, he escaped to an orca thus returning to the the Haven for a second time.

Promising to never again leave the Haven, he had his collar painfully removed and tried to emotionally recover at what was then a secluded Creek deep within the Forest. Finding that couldn't do it alone, he later reviewed himself again and shown himself to be a great aide in the troublesome matters that occurred soon after. As a second "Hunted" island was discovered and a villainous Komodo known as Shadow presented himself, he defended the tiger known as Rose. Later, events made it necessary for him to become almost a bodyguard for a time and he grew to care for the young striped feline known as Rose. After Sybil had faked her death and Rose had become her successor for a time, he not only helped to protect a dear friend but also a new hope for the Haven's future.

As Shadow was dealt with and Sybil had 'returned from the dead', Sayan remained ever faithful to Rose and to the Haven as a whole. No longer quite as fearful as he once was, he even accepted potentially dangerous newcomers-- giving them the benefit of the doubt and attempting to help smooth their transitions. Still forever faithful to his friends, his youth had also began to return with the orcas games but the Haven was soon forced to face reality again as a drought quickly approached. Despite the shortage of food and most of the orcas being forced to retreat to the Antarctic, he and Rose soon found happiness and the two officially became mates. As the tiger's instincts come out-- he once again has to watch over Rose both for her sake and for the sake of the others.

OOC: Great. Since you three are the main users, I will begin the story now. Any user who still wishes to join, whether is old or new is welcome. Now, let's begin...

Life at the Haven has been getting harder and harder as each day goes by. It was late afternoon, and Sybil was already done with her usual chores, such as checking on Rose and feeding the orcas. She was very grateful for Crocux for helping her get all the fish necessary for them and Rose, but unfortunately, she hasn't spent as much time with him as she use to. Lately, she has spent more time at the edge of the forest watching the beach to see if there was any orca activity, but more importantly, she was waiting for Light Beach to inevitable happen. She knew that many Haven residents were new, and they could be tempted to walk near the water to get a better view. She was constantly surveilling she shore to prevent that from happening, and that was what was getting her so overworked.

Nearby, Angus and Nia were playing their usual games. Drought or no drought, no force could stop those two from messing around. As they continued their frolicking, it was Angus who noticed Nero.
"Hey Nia.there's someone there." he said, pointing at Nero, who was only a few yards away from them. Nia didn't wait a second and approached the bird.
"Hey sir. I know you... yes... I know you..." she said, knowing that wasn't the first time he saw that individual. Angus also found him familiar, but it has been more than a year since the Battle for the Haven, so they didn't remember him.

"Hey, you see?he knows our names." Nia said, though her and Angus feeling embarrassed that the visitor remembered them but they didn't.
"So sorry mister. We know we have seen you before, but we just can't remember your name." Angus said, excusing their innocent ignorance.

Name: Speckles
Species: Lion's Hill Velvet Worm (see first artwork)
Personally: Nervous, paranoid, and spontaneous. He's easily startled, and easily hurt, due to his unstable emotional state. He tends to avoid the antics of the other residents, but curiosity occasionally gets the better of him. When actually calm, he makes witty and enjoyable conversation.
He's been getting out more with Skaliscin and opening up a bit.
Goal: Very survival oriented, but spends most of his time being a reliable friend for his two snake friends and their offspring

Name: Skaliscin
Species: Blacked-Capped Centipede-Eater (see first artwork)
Personally: Many times has she been considered acidic, or outright venomous. She's often mean-spirited, rude, and irritable, and gets a kick out of annoying the residents. However, she respects and cares very much for the Mistress's goals, and is willing to help her with a situation in any way she can (especially if it lets her to indulge in trouble-making without any scolding)
Her approaching motherhood, however, has made her a much more calm individual, and she's been making an effort to visit other residents.
Goal: To live out the rest of her days human-free and with her favorite people, and to take care of her offspring

Name: Voracivenom
Species: Black-Capped Centipede-Eater
Personality: A hearty character with a jovial, uplifting spirit. He's often see in the deeper parts of the Haven, assisting various residents and natives. He has an expansive knowledge on the many creatures of the world and helps different creatures put aside their differences and get along. He's the most actively involved of the trio.
His pending fatherhood has made him a bit more skittish and nervous than normal.
Goal:To assist the creatures of the Haven and help newcomers feel welcome, as well as his friends and family

OOC: Hey Waaksian. Nice to have you back. I didn't think you would have arrived so soon

"Nero..." Nia said, pondering, but it got to Angus.
"The war Nia. Remember? He accompanied that good Komodo dragon that defeated Shadow." he said to his cousin, and she also remembered.
"Oh yeah, now I get it. Hey sir! It's been so long. What are you doing here? I thought you returned to that island." Nia said, glad to see him nonetheless. Angus however, believed that his return meant that he brought bad news. Why else would he travel so far? He wasn't as optimistic as his cousin.

Meanwhile at the Haven, Sayan had made sure Rose had been fed and was now laying aside the tiger in their favorite spot on top of the den. As he looked up at the sun, he couldn't help but to think of the upcoming Light Beach and its potential dangers. "I wonder how the orcas are faring-- the ones who remained trapped within our waters.," he said worried for both them and any residents brave enough to approach the shoreline.

Sybil remained at the shore, climbing a palm tree as the night approached. She was doing this for the past nights, making sure that the palm tree she climbed has a very skinny trunk to make sure none other but herself could climb up and down. She was quite exhausted, but decided to battle sleep for a while longer, unaware that she may have to deal with an unexpected surprise.

"Is miss Sybil here? I need to talk to her. This involves both islands." Nero said.

"It's bad news, isn't it? I knew it!" Angus said with pessimism, thinking nobody would bother to make a long trip if it wasn't an emergency.
"Miss Sybil is back at the Haven. That's where she has always lived." Nia answered, trying to calm down her paranoid cousin.

Crocux was at home sleeping and wondering how Saris was doing. Jr was heading off to visit the Kea's to see how Mambo was doing and to get a rematch with Cole.

Mambo was away, having tasked himself to check on the forest every dusk to see if there was any unusual activity. He knew Sybil was doing that, but he also knew she needed all the help she could get.

Cole, along with his sister, was at the tree, having a late snack due to barely having eaten a thing all day. Cole slept most of his day to avoid feeling hungry, so he was quite wide awake. It also helped the fact that keas were already nocturnal.

Nia flew away to get her father, but Angus stayed behind, not containing his paranoia. How he had to know why Nero was there.
"What is it sir? Is Shadow returning? Do you have human problems? What... is... it!?" he yelled, being a nervous wreck. If cockatoos could sweat, he would have look like a leaking sprinkler.

Now Angus was really growing paranoid. He remembered too well how he antagonized his family, and that was something he didn't want to go through again.
"That can't be! He was suppose to remain at his island! What happened? I thought you guys were suppose to take care of that!" he said angrily, believing it was Zera and Nero's responsibilities to keep that treacherous Komodo dragon t bay.
"We are in the middle of a drought here! The last thing we need is a Komodo dragon persecuting us!" he finally said, trying to calm down, but failing miserably.

Nero calmed down a bit knowing that there were a bit of good news in all that, but then a new worry raised.
"But how will Zera arrive here? Don't you know? The orcas migrated. Only three remain, but they can become dangerous. They barely have anything to eat." Angus pointed out, knowing that his uncle has been worrying about that particular for quite a while, especially since Sybil was risking her life every day to feed them.

"I'm sure they are well. Sybil has been feeding them." Rose said.

"I'm just worried that about what will happen when the Light Beach occurs-- and bigger targets present themselves.," Sayan replied looking up at the sun. He was referring to any residents wanting to take a closer look at the upcoming spectacle.

Angus imagined that at Komodo, it was almost like the Haven, but with scarier residents and Great Whites as the transport.
"So the transport is resolved. But wait. Don't orcas and sharks hate each other?" Angus said, not able to stop his building chain of worries.

Before Nero could reply to him though, Barloc and Nia arrived, and the former wasn't happy at all.
"You!? Now what? The last time you were here you gave nothing but bad news!" Barloc said bitterly, not being very welcoming of his presence. He has been impossible the last weeks, and nothing improved his mood.

Barloc was now getting furious.
"Hah, I knew it! So much for watching! What the heck happened? Weren't you suppose to make sure he never left his island?" Barloc demanded, having a very similar outlook to that of his nephew?
"Ugh, you know what? Never mind. I'll just inform miss Sybil about this!" he said bitterly, flying off to the Haven.

Nia was usually optimist, but even she was getting worried.
"How did that happen sir? He's just one Komodo dragon..." she said, wondering how a whole hoard of his own species plus sharks couldn't stop him... unless he had an army of his own?

back at haven Guardian was spending time with Sybil trying to get to know her better.

Shi was with Sozen as usual. She was lost in thought as to what to do during the drought.

a fair distance from the haven's shors Ravage was resting on top of a create (I know unoriginal) using his arms to swim along going strait for haven. he is out for blood.

OOC: Woah. This part is going to have many antagonists. Also, ShadetheDragon, remember that Sybil is up a palm tree, but I'll just assume he's below.

Sybil remained seeing the beach, at the lookout for any sparks. She knew Guardian was nearby, but she wasn't in the mood for talking, or anything else for that matter.

As Barloc flew, he noticed that Nero was following him, to add to his irritation.
"We should have known better than to trust you guys to keep watch on one dirty reptile! Miss Sybil should have ordered him killed when she had the chance!" Barloc complained, now irritated with himself as well for not killing him himself when Shadow was trapped in that tar pit a year and a half ago.

"Well didn't you have guards or something?" Barloc said furiously, finding it unacceptable.
"So many chances we had to kill that jerk, and now look what happens! That's it! If I get another chance to end his hateful life, I won't hesitate." he then said, raising his head's feathers. No doubt he was irritated.

Barloc didn't want to talk to him anymore, finding him incompetent and irresponsible for letting Shadow escape. As they got closer to the island, Barloc was even starting to pity Sybil with how she was going to take the news.
"Here we are. Let's see how you will let it out on her. You have no idea what the poor critter has been through." Barloc said, knowing that would totally ruin the civet.

Sybil almost fell asleep, when Barloc landed on the same branch she was on.
"Good evening Barloc. What brings you here?" she said politely as usual, but Barloc just pointed at Nero.
"You should ask him." he said with a scowl, leaving the two of them alone.

"Wait... Nero?" she asked, very surprised. What was he doing so far away from home? Sybil didn't know whether to be glad or worried.

The last thing Sybil needed was bad news, but she couldn't act ignorant about it.
"Come on then. I'll take you to Rose's place." she said, wanting to tell him about the tiger's predicament, but deciding to leave that while they headed there.

Not needed anymore, Barloc went home, trying to figure out how to tell his flock the bad news. One thing was certain; he would need to create a plan, a barricade or something to prevent Shadow from attacking and invading their home like last time.

"Hopefully, they remember and heed the warnings we posted weeks ago.," Sayan said concerned. The warnings were long gone by now, but the dangers certainly remained the same.

Now that they were walking to Sayan's den, Sybil proceeded to explain to Nero what was going on.
"You see Nero, both the Haven and Hunted island are suffering from a very severe drought... and well, with the lack of food, we fear many predators will start to resort to their basic instincts to get food... it has already happened to poor Rose, so we have her tied up." Sybil explained, hoping Nero would understand why she would take extra precautions.

ooc: sorry I'm being slow. please bear with me.

Guardian was confused "who's Shadow?" he fallowed them wanting to help even if he wasn't wanted.

OOC: It' alright. Don't feel forced

Sybil sighed, having been accustomed to bad news.
"Please don't tell me you lost him..." she said melancholically, ignoring Guardian. She believed that if Shadow escaped, he would think of going to the Haven first.

Sybil lowered her head, containing her desire to cry. Unlike Barloc and his nephew, she didn't I blame anyone for it.
"Why does this has to happen? Why so many bad things at the same time!? There is a drought here! That's enough suffering for us! I presume Shadow wants to return here?" Sybil asked, imagining he would want revenge for his defeat.

At Hunted island, Barloc returned home, but his flock already knew about Shadow. Nia and Angus already told them. Many of them were in a panic, but a few were awaiting orders, knowing that with Shadow returning, the drought was going to be the least of their problems.

Sybil wasn't liking what she was hearing.
"Wait, they are coming here? Didn't you heard what I said earlier about predators? That includes the orcas!" Sybil scolded, not wanting any more lives exposed.

Barloc reunited his flock and mellowed the panic, accepting opinions of anybody on what needed to be done. Shadow already took their home once. They weren't going to allow it again.

"No no. That's not what I meant. Don't you see? If the sharks come, the orcas could attack them. I don't want a fight to start." she expressed, believing that the orcas could attack the sharks out of hunger or pure spite (considering they were natural enemies), and they could also attack the orcas out of self defense.
