Title is pretty self explanatory. I have gotten my portal rank up to 63 on my 360. Initially I felt it would be worth it to play on both the current and next gen, but with the new emphasis on the actual game save file and the power that comes with it, I don't think it'd be worth the time. I know Battlefield 4 and COD Ghosts will allow transfer of multiplayer, but not single player progress. Has there been any word if we will be able to save our game file to a USB stick and transfer it to the next gen consoles? If not, I will cancel my preorder of the next gen.

No you can't, Portal Master Rank is linked to the console itself. The only thing that carrys over from system to system is character data and the hat your character was last wearing.

Thanks for the quick reply. Seems as though I will be cancelling the preorder. Very disappointing they wouldn't allow that. Kind of dumb of Activision. I can't be the only one who doesn't get the next gen edition because they have to re-grind through the nightmare mode again.

Why would progress for one game influence your decision to get a next gen console? just curious

nightmare mode is easy hardly a grind and also its a fun game

If you are getting a next-gen console, it shouldn't be only for Skylanders.

Title of the topic and "I will cancel my preorder of the next gen." sounded like he was speaking of the console.

For me personally it is the opposite, I find getting the figures the hard part over buying the starter pack. So yeah, I do plan to buy it for next gen also.

I am not buying a XB1 any time soon but when I do I will get SSF again just to redo the achievements and boost my gamerscore.

Then again, I will also do that for any other game which comes out on both 360 and XB1, like Lego Marvel Superheroes, Diablo 3, etc.

To answer any above confusion, I was talking about just SwapForce, not the actual console. I'm getting the console regardless.

As for my reason for not wanting to do it again, it just seems like a lot of play through. I have already gone through each level 3 times, and I still haven't gone through it on Time trials and Score trials. Its just a personal preference. I suppose part of the grind type feeling is I had surgery on my foot so I was locked down on my couch and I played the heck out of it (comparatively speaking for the amount I usually play video games). Regardless, I'm not sure why I would want to do something probably 3 more times (at the very least). Granted, the biggest "grind" is out of the way with the arena grinds to get several characters up to lvl 20. It's entirely possible that the lvling grind is what left me most raw (18 lvl 20s).

But this brings me to another question brought up by chaosworrier. Since Gamerscore DOES transfer over from 360 to One, does that mean I would get credit for doing the same achievement twice?

If I'm understanding your question correctly, the Xbox specific achievements should transfer over but they do not affect the portal master ranking. The game-specific achievements, which are the same across all platforms, would not and would need to be redone to increase your portal master rank.

I haven't progressed past level 4 in Swap Force for the same reason. I was planning on getting the Xbox One version of Swap Force and didn't want to redo levels over and over again.

If you are Gold, you can use the Cloud Saving no?

Cloud saving is not expected to help without some form of import process - it is the same premise as saving the file to a USB stick.

And, yes, even though XB1 achievement would generally be the same names/GPs/etc as their 360 equivalents, they are considered separate cheevs so you can double up. This premise was confirmed some time ago (I am an semi-avid reader of xbox360achievements.org).
