I preordered Swap Force for the PS4, and I will obviously receive it on the 29th of November, when the console will be' out.
But I really can't wait to play it!
So, my dad told me that, if I want, I could buy the PS3 version tomorrow, and then, the 29th, also pick the PS4 one.
I would do that immediatley...
But I have a couple doubts:
I heard that there are now functionalities tied to your profile. Do you know, by chance, if I will be able to save my progresses on the PS3 version, and then transfer them in the PS4, along with my profile?

And, do you know if the PS3 Portal of Power will work with the PS4 too, so that I would only have to buy the game, and not the whole Starter Pack?

I've also been wondering about this. We're primarily PS3 players but we've picked up Spyro's Adventure and Giants on the 360 for cheap and the various achievements for ownership, etc. made it much more convoluted than it needed to be. We didn't get the achievement on the 360 for "putting a Skylander on the portal for the first time" until we had already played a few missions. LOL. I don't see anything in Swap Force about ownership (just character nickname) but then again there are so many sub-menus, etc that we haven't poured through all of them yet.

One thing I would love to see is cross-game, cross-platform carry-over of your portal master rank. We're getting the game on next-gen, too, and it would be nice to carry over some of those things, much like you can carry over level, gold, and stats on your individual figures.

BTW, excellent avatar choice! ThumpBack is my favorite character! (wife's is Wrecking Ball, with Pop Thorn, Whirlwind, and Flashwing right up there).

Don't know of any way of buying the game separately. So only way of getting it is buying two Starter packs one for PS3 and one for PS4. I'd suggest getting dark edition for PS3 then pick up the PS4 starter edition. That way you don't get complete duplicates of the figures.

Good idea there. Also increases the chances later on of just reselling the Dark Edition items, in part or whole. Reselling a standard package would be much harder to do.

Anyway, I think I could manage to find a PS4 game complete with Portal, on E-Bay.
I've seen many 3DS games like that, so, why not?

And, thanks, GooMart! Thumpback may not be my favourite character (even if he's still great), but since whales are my favourite animals...

Thats a good question. I know call of duty and some other games will be able to transfer your progress from ps3 to ps4 but I havent heard anything about swap force. Im trying my best not to play the ps3 version so I dont have to do everything twice.

I've tried that too... But when my said that I was just like "shut up and take me to the GameStop".
However, for the ones who already own the game, is there any functionality tied to your profile? Like the Portal Master Rank, but for the in-game progresses?

I don't think you can buy just the game. Pretty sure it will only be available as a Starter Pack.

I saw some 3DS versions of Swap Force, including just the game and the Portal, on E-Bay. And this because the guy only wanted Volcanic Eruptor. So, there may be hopes for the PS4 version too.
