I'm not trying to get any hate here, but, being honest, I can't play skylanders anymore. I think it is EXTREMELY boring. I most likely will buy SF, but I'm cautious because I played Skylanders Giants for a month or so and haven't played much since. So my question is, what keeps you addicts going, or what makes you want to keep blowing cash on SF and beyond?

I'm burned out on Giants , but not the series as a whole. Personally I get addicted to finding everything, and upgrading all the skylanders movesets. Its the completionist in me. I do wish nightmare was unlocked from the start though. I have a feeling all of my Skylanders are going to basically be unstoppable since they are already leveled up with all moves.

I feel the same way, hence why I stayed off this forum for a good few months. Came back now and I feel refreshed and I'm really looking forward too swap force. I actually was disappointed in giants, while it did have a few new neat things I really didn't like being stuck in Flynns ship. I also found the levels more annoying than SSA ...not sure wh just did. On the bright side I love all the figures and still collect them, and knowing there's always some more to get keeps me going!

I am stopping after Swap Force unless Skylanders 4 looks extremely amazing, which I doubt.

I think the issue is, whilst the games are good, they really lack replay value. Okay, you have the new figures - but when you've completed the game 100%, it makes it seem a chore to go through the game and level up/purchase upgrades for all your new figures.
The lack of adventure packs for Giants didn't help this, since they kept me going for a while in Spyro's Adventure, but there is one thing that would certainly increase replay value; online multiplayer. If they introduce online battle mode, where you earn experience and gold just like the local battle mode then I would most likely play the game a lot more. Activision probably know this, but the 2 year development cycle puts them behind a year (which is why jumping only came around for Swap Force) so we'll probably see online multiplayer for Skylanders 4. This would also be an opportunity to expand on the battle mode, which is in desperate need of additional features. |

I'm stopping at Swap Force unless they add online multiplayer in Skylanders 4.

I don't play much except if I get a new character because I am kinda bored right now as well
Maybe try nightmare mode and see how well you can do or try getting 100% on all levels

I reply the game only if there is a whole new team of eight to take through the game.
I think it's a mistake to try to keep playing all year long - play other games, but pick up new figures whenever you can. Eventually you'll have a new eight and can have a fairly fresh experience each time. Also... don't cheat and look up item locations... take the time to find them all yourself. |

I personally like going ahead and trying to get everything in each level on the first go.....Though, Chapters 8 and 9 just wow me so much that I always play those every time I do play Giants......
My trick to finding continous fun is I like to go through one path with a skylander.....Then, once I'm bored, I reset the skylander and go down the other path.....(Yea I know the S2 can just switch paths, but I only have 2 and I really like the paths they're on right now) It may seem like a chore to some, but to me, I just like the fact that I get to experience everything with that skylander from start.....(There are of course, those skylanders that I reset but go on the same path without even trying the other one.......Namely Trigs with his bullet path, Chop Chop with his sword path, and Dino Rang with his Boomerang path.) |

By all means - stop buying the figures... but you'd be silly to stop buying the games. They are just more places to take your current figures. |

I finally finished the console version of giants, haven't done the whole collecting thing. Redoing chapter 16 a few times in the row just so i could have a backup of it for the wii u gets annoying. in a nutshell it is becoming a burn out. too many figures and not really enough to do in game wise to justify the extensive purchases. I really think swap force will be the end all be all of the skylanders games.

Taking that last ride through the sunset on skylanders. Hopefully a return of more classic spyro gameplay in the horizon. |

To be honest, i think alot of players are thinking that swap force will be the same as Giants. Just with new figures. Fact is just looking at some of the "levels" you see in some of the vids just is showing more of the game and it's looking better so far. but that's just my oppinion. But i really just say stop treating Swap Force like it's allready going to in a since fail.
Now, as for the topic, on burning out... admittedly on Giants I haven't been playing it as much. I've completed the game 100% the game (Still working on Nightmare mode.) I've maxed out, fully upgraded, and completed every Quest for all the skylanders i own. And I've fully completed the 3DS version minus the "Avoid the Slicers" Challenge on Empire of Ice *Cuz it's hard and the stupid time limit glitch.* and Darklight Crypt *cuz i don't have access to it.* However, it's more of I'm just wanting the next game to come out, more than being tired/burned out of skylanders in general. Infact, I'd be even happy to get S:SA for console to tie me *since i don't have it.* and that'll have me playing the game more.

Swap Force has kind of put a bullet in my Skylanders love. I have no interest in the game at all beyond a couple of the figures and the exclusionary nature of the new gimmick bugs me to no end. If the fourth game makes any kind of improvement, I might get back into it, but it's all just plastic in the end and I can spend my money on gaming experiences I like more.
I'll be getting Giants whenever I can, but I will not buy Swap Force nor do I want the game at all. |

I'm bowing out after I get my Lightcore Hex imported from Australia, and after I get my Giants Sidekicks imported from the US.
Maybe if I see the game on the cheap, and the figures on offer, I will consider Swap Force, but I don't have the interest I did. |

Cmon, attacking with different types of fish? I'm all for that! I'm burned out on too many figures relative to the content...didn't think I was going to do this, but I will be pairing down new purchases to net new characters only...if they bring their A game with showing value on the reposes I'll rethink it later. Honestly, I have enough characters to last me the rest of the franchise. Too lopsided on characters and not on content. Replay primarily consists of grinding on upgrading skylanders...hope they bring something else.

Good call, GhostRoaster. Unless there is something amazing there, I'll be avoiding series 3 figures and just collecting the new ones that appeal.

Seeing as I have a relatively small collection, I plan on adding around 5 each game, until they get boring.

Skylanders is the only game that I have which is so draining and so thin on replay value that I have to plan out which characters I'm going to be playing over 12 months. Swap Force looks better than Giants, more similar to SA... But there are not enough chapters. I don't give a damn about wether they're "longer", exploring the same levels over and over gets boring. When you have less chapters, and you have to visit them more often because you have more characters, they get more boring much faster. Unless Skylanders 4 has at least 20 chapters, I'm not buying it, even online wouldn't save it for me otherwise.
My current plan is to play two of the new characters within launch month, then three the next, two the next, and so on, and the adventure packs in February and June. Characters really don't take that long to max out... Only a few hours every month for me... Otherwise the game will become old by the end of the year. I don't know if I'm even going to bother getting my old toys to Level 20 this time since I know that they will raise the cap to 25 next year and I will have to do the same grinding with the same characters yet again. |

For me, it depends on when the starter pack price drop occurs. Other than, I might just buy the figures for Swap Force and use them in Skylanders 4

I reserved swap force, but i havent played skylanders since april while away on vacation. I do want to play as does my son just life atm is busy. However i also have ssa still to play so between that and giants nightmare mode/heroics i do have enough to do when i want to. Currently finishing up mario wii u with family, then getting lugiu wii u in aug (yes i know i can dl it now but god forbid my wii u breaks i want a game i can actually use again and not be tied digitally to a broken wii u.)

Skylanders SA was one of the best games ive invested a long period of time on. it was great. the figures were unique, and i loved finding a new one i didnt have in the stores. when giants came out, i was thrilled! GIANT skylanders! however, the gameplay was looooong and slooooow-like your average giant. the levels were longer and in turn you got less. i liked the many short levels of SA. im gonna collect the swappable skylanders in the next game, but just stop buying figures altogether on the one after THAT.
lets face it, Skylanders is planned to be an annual thing. each year, theres a new game, along with hundreds of dollars worth of toys. i myself, am quite greedy when it comes to collecting every last one of these little things. and ive realized im just throwing money away. i'd love to get them all, but if you arent spoiled/financially capable of getting every one of them, then you really cant. i think i would stay with this series for longer if they just had a more balanced levels-to-characters ratio.
