I know this seems farfetched, but I had an epiphany.
What if we already know the level count of Swap Force, based on the way Giants handled the distribution of Soul Gems?
16 Swap Force = 16 Soul Gems
16 Newlanders = 16 Soul Gems
Could we be looking at a game with at least 32 levels? How cool would that be?
If you think about it, Vicarious Visions has had about as long of a development time as Spyro's Adventure did, give or take a month. When you have more development time, there's no need to rush, which leads to more... generally.
I hope the longer development times for Toys For Bob/Vicarious Visions every other year, translates into longer games. But, if we base Soul Gems on Giants, we COULD be looking at 32 levels. Here's hoping.

32 levels? Yes please! Let's just hope they have the good quality that the levels in Giants did, and not the rather sloppy quality that some of the levels in SA did!

Possible - but it could also be 16 levels like last time, with a Swap Force Soul Gem and Newlander Soul Gem in each level. - I'd bet on that before betting that we'll get a 32 level game - but we can hope!

I think you might have something there...BUT....I'd say we're looking at maybe 28 levels at launch with 4 more in Adventure Packs by this logic. Yes I'm calling it now that Adventure Packs will make a triumphant return in Swap Force. If they had 2 Soul Gems per level that would make a 16 level game and that's way too short. They could mix it up but I think this will be a beefier game than Giants. It's already doubled the amount of new Skylanders so 32 total levels is possible. But then again Spyro's Adventure had 22 launch levels and 4 Adventure Pack levels so who knows. It might be something closer to Spyro's Adventure.

SSA had multiple Soul Gems per level, and they weren't a constant number, so Swap Force could be no different.

Well, I sincerely hope this game isn't as short as Giants was, especially if the game ends up costing more due to having 2 Swaplanders in the Starter Pack.
With 56 characters, it doesn't need to be as short as Giants. 32 characters for 26 levels in the first game seemed about right, while 48 characters for 20 levels seems like a step back. If they do 32 Soul Gems, and insist on having multiple gems per level, then they need to at least make the level count at 22+. I do hope Adventure Packs/Magical Items return.

For me, I see them not having a Soul Gem for the SwapLanders. I know that seems a bit weird, but because these guys are looking to be pretty different from what we've seen of regular characters (in terms of leveling up) I have to consider that there's not one for them.
I'd LOVE for there to be 32 levels in the game, but we'll probably wind up with 16 again (and if they have SwapLander Soul Gems, then those will probably double up in levels) and then more Adventure Packs to add more levels.

But, if the game has 16 levels and no new Adventure Packs, that is going to be quite sad if you ask me.
There's no reason for them to keep stepping back, even with a longer development time.

Wow, lots of excellent ideas on the levels and the soul gems.
I just hope they do more levels than were in Giants. The videos for gameplay so far have looked lush. The new graphics look rich and very smooth. I could see that they could do a soul gem for each half of the swaplander, and maybe the new badge thingy on the base of the bottom half that opens certain sections is where u can find the soul gem. There are plenty of interesting ideas for the game and what might be included. It's going to be a long summer. |

^this but this will be really great as there wud be 32 new characters so its either there wud be 32 ingame levels 1 soulgemp per level or 16 levels, 2 soul gems per level. guess we have to wait and see.
