Pirate copies of YotD (probably not all, but many of them) had special debug/setup screen which showed before game started. You can choose there screen proportion (PAL/NTSC) and some cheats (infinite lifes/gems). When they show, Paradox music was playing all the time, like on video. When you are 4-5 years old, such music may scare you.

I had a pirated version of YotD. Quite often it could detect it was a pirated version and Zoe would reprimand you for it in Sunrise Spring (there's a picture of it somewhere). The warning seemed like a one-off but the game started messing itself up - I think all pirate copies did this. On my pirated version, for example, I couldn't return to Midday Gardens or Evening Lake. I think it did more than that but I can't remember.
