I'll make this short and sweet. We're all tired of seeing ten people jump on each repetitive topic. Trust me, the OP will know after one person tells them; for the most part, posters here function at above sub-human intelligence and don't need to hear things ten times, from ten different sources, to understand them.

I, and many others, are sick of wasting our time reading entire threads about how the topic is repetitive. Let the OP and the first person to point out the repetition handle it. Do not get involved. It's tempting, but it is a waste of your time as a writer and mine as a reader.

This is WAY more annoying than repetitive posts. You are making what was, at one time, a simple repetitive post, into a complete trainwreck of unfathomable idiocy so unreadable that it actually drags down the collective intelligence of the entire forum.

If somebody beats you to it, let it lie. No one wants to hear what you have to say. I'd much rather read my fifth topic about whether Ignitor would beat Flameslinger than endure the drudgery of my ten billionth chorus of "ZOMG REPETISHIN!!!"

And I am not alone.

Hey, where is this Police Force I wanna join??? ha ha

I totally see your point, and very well said.
It's almost a double edged sword....
We have so many people posting duplicate topics yet at the same time we now have so many people pointing out the duplicate topics...
Both are getting out of hand!
Maybe we can just find a happy medium? ha ha
But what came first the chicken or the egg??

Wait till we go more members after Christmas! Oh boy!

I agree with you 100%

But technically this is one of those kind of sites you are talking about this is the third or fourth topic on duplicate topics isnt it?

Yes, but duplicate topics is a very general field. Like Skylanders, there are tons of ways to talk about the same thing, but from different angles. We have posts on how to avoid repetition, posts ranting about repetition, and my post, ranting about people who rant about repetition. Subsets, perhaps, but to put them all in the same topic would be pure chaos and nothing constructive would come of it.

Take the example below. Here, we have five possible unique topics about one Skylander; Terrafin.

A) Terrafin vs Bash - Who should I buy?

smilie Link: Terrafin singing Bad Romance!

C) What does Kaos owe Terrafin $5 for?

D) What build for Terrafin?

E) Using Terrafin for easy trophies/achievements: a guide

Yes, each of these topics focus on one Skylander. However, is it appropriate to put them all in one topic with the title "Terrafin"? Not by a long shot. Every one of these topics can be spun into a complete discussion that has nothing in common with any of the other four, except that Terrafin is a part of each. If we put all of these topics in one thread, it will be so chaotic that nothing is accomplished. Repetitive posts may be plaguing our forums, but being too general about what constitutes a repetitive topic isn't just plaguing our forums; it's killing them.

I'm not saying to let all repetitive topics slide. The Ignitor's "vs" series was nails on a chalkboard, and I doubt anyone would argue it. All I'm saying is, the more mature members of the board need to know when to let it go. We don't want an entire forum where no one talks. For continued discussion, some topics NEED to be similar. There's no way around it.

If it truly needs to be said, and a poster truly needs to be silenced for wasting our time, it shouldn't take ten of us to do it. We're scaring newbies away, and we need them to be here, otherwise the community will stagnate and die.

And duplicate topics about making duplicate topics about making duplicate topics about duplicate topics. It's a never-ending chain, and with every link, it gets more absurd. However, if you are saying that my post is a duplicate topic, please actually read it.

Me too, I just have a very dry sense of humor. smilie

People take everything way too personally, and every attempt to get them to lighten up is met with the same "wtf no u" mentality that makes the internet so fun in the first place. I really do want all the tension to calm down, but until it does, I'm perfectly happy to play devil's advocate for the lulz. But shhh. Everyone here seems to think I'm incredibly serious.

... Oops, did I say that out loud?

Well darn. Cat's out of the bag I guess. Hey everyone, guess who's a troll! <---

Seriously though, if you've got to troll anyone, why not troll the trolls? ... Who troll the trolls who troll other trolls who troll more trolls, etc. Is anyone on the internet actually not trolling anymore? Why, I have little doubt that, soon, someone will show up and attempt to troll me as well. Granted, they'll fail miserably, but the point I'm trying to make is that it's a never-ending cycle. XP

Oh, wait, some of the kids who post repetitive topics aren't trolling I guess, but who cares about them? All they want to do is talk excitedly about their new video game and the awesome action figures that come with it. Punks!

I think this is a good point rather eloquently made - you have a way with words!

I agree that some things necessitate a new topic, and some (like "which Skylander would win in a fight") can probably be set in one universal topic. It is a bit of an irony that the very people who are complaining about repetitive topics are also being repetitive in their manner!

I mean, there are a lot of "I got a Silver Skylander!" topics that could probably all be in one, but as you mentioned with Terrafin, there are plenty of topics about one Skylander that would be better separated. I guess it's down to the admin to ultimately decide how the board goes, though.

It's the Skylanders section, can we keep it about the Skylanders please? If you want to make a topic like this, at least do it in the idle chat or Stuff and Non-sense. I don't care if you never use these sections, they are made for THAT. The duplicate topics were at least about Skylanders.

Ignitor would lay fiery waste to Ignitor. Clearly.

Actually, it's not really ironic or repetitive. Someone needs to read the dictionary...

I'd have been more than happy to, if but a single one of the types of posts I am addressing were on these forums as well. Since not a solitary one of them is, I'd have been addressing nothing there. Oh, and I do talk a little bit about Skylanders here. Terrafin is part of one of my main points. Fine line, perhaps, but Skylanders discussion in this topic is certainly above zero.

Sadly, this. I'd rather everyone either create a new website if they're that bothered, or just hang with it on the designated thread already open regarding duplicate topics. Because these won't work without new mods, and anyone who's been here long enough will know now that it's not happening.
