Enough with the duplicate topics...duplicate topics! ha ha
I am new here too, and really enjoy my time here....but lately I think many are getting upset about the over use and duplicate topics!
I know I am.
There are over 9 topics about "vs" or "who would win" or "who you like better" in the first few pages.
5 topics about silver Skylanders! Over 6 topics about wave 3 and new characters coming out.
We don't need this many topics people, do some research, use the search bar, add to someones topic that is already posted.
We already have a poll going on for favorite elements....no need to make individual posts!
I know people are excited when they first join but sit back and read some posts. Be creative when creating a new topic.
Or just join or add into existing conversations.

Perhaps time for a sticky for the important and frequent topics? Thinking of when will the new characters come out for example...

Maybe I should post this topic three or four times....hahaha
I guess it is hard when someone new joins....they don't really know what has been talked about!

Sticky topics are for important topics, like information on Skylanders or Spoilers. And also enough with the 'Hey! Someone bought a silver Skylander topics!'

THIS. Congrats on obtaining a rare Skylander, but it doesn't need a whole new topic. |

Dark52 said the similar topics seems fine to him. But still it's annoying that new users keep posting the same kind of topic...

Have we tried having Official topics on a certain subject? It could at least bring all the discussion on one topic and give reason for duplicates to be closed.

Yep, that's true. Silver Skylanders aren't that impressive, either (to me anyway). It isn't an accidental misprint, and the translucent figures still feel more limited edition-ish. Or topics about one's thoughts on a silver Skylander. That should stop, too.

And the "when's the third wave coming out???" topics are annoying, too.

Really tho...
Everyone needs to be reading the current topics before the post new ones. So many duplicates again lately! I know it's not a big deal, but it can be very annoying. We could all keep the topics down to a minimum and just add to them! I have seen 8 duplicates or similar subjects in the past 2 days! Try to research use the search bar before you post something! (especially if you are new) Example... The other day I shut off my lights and was surprised, stealth elf's eyes were glowing in the dark!!! I was going to make a post about it, but I used the search bar and sure enough it was already talked about! Of course all this is just my opinion anyone can post what they want...I am sure I am not alone on this though!

We've also got to be realistic about this, though. I don't expect anyone to sift through more than the first page of posts before making their own, honestly. If it's still on the front page, and maybe even the second page, that's one thing, but if anyone gets upset because a new post shares a coincidental similarity with something that was on this forum weeks ago, that's their misfortune and not the newbie's. Weeks-old topics are, and should be considered, ancient history.

Exactly I see your point too... it's a bit hopeless! haha
Try to look at the other posts and use the search bar that's all I ask! I'm new here too, maybe it has always been like this???

That's just the way it goes with forums, I'm afraid. I'm new here too, but not to online posting. It's difficult to plumb tens of pages, even for me as an adult, in search of anything bearing even a coincidental similarity to what I want to post--and that's what newbies have to do, really, to avoid the Repetitive Posts Police Force. Most of these newbies are just kids; after all, we play a kids' game here, and there's little use denying it. Not only that, there's no abstract way of knowing, for sure, what topics bear a new round of discussion and which don't. A topic from two months ago about whether Ignitor would beat Flameslinger would come out completely different than one from today; now, conventional wisdom favors Ignitor, and that didn't used to be the case. Many of the topics they would find in the search bar could be out of date. In my opinion, only the first two pages have anything accurate on them in the ever-changing world of an evolving game like Skylanders.
Don't get me wrong; all the "vs" topics are getting annoying. In a game with console, handheld, and website-based versions, all with multiple modes that cater to the strengths of multiple characters, it's really impossible to say who's better than who when the OP never even specifies what version or mode. However, all we're doing by fighting back as hard as we are is scaring away new members of the community. It's no coincidence that traffic has slowed lately, and it's hard to start a conversation these days. We might be keeping our forum clean of repetition, but we're mopping up inclusion right along with it. Not everyone who posts a repetitive topic is a complete moron with no place on our forums, but that's how they're often treated, and we're doing it at our own expense. Some of these alleged idiots may be valuable members of the community waiting to happen, and we don't give them the time of day, because rather than one polite reminder that their first topic is repetitive, they get TEN. It's so pointless, and people are getting scared to post. In short, I, too, am clueless how to resolve this. There's no approach without collateral damage. |

Yeah. I totally agree. A lot of what's wrong is that we have nothing new to post about, and newbies don't know what even is new in the first place.

I agree that if it's on the first page, probably even the second page, it's good enough to bump, but dredging through the topics much beyond that becomes a task. As I said in Tashiji's other topic, things like the versus posts can easily stay in one thread, but oftentimes there are other topics that can be made about individual Skylanders which may prove interesting to other people.
