This game is listed as new, unopened. Where is Ignitor? Dark Spyro?
I never saw this "beginner" set. This guy/girl is going to have troubles...

The starting bid is $1. Frankly, if I had an Ebay account, I'd still bid on it. Don't care much for Dark Spyro, and Ignitor will eventually be released on his own.

Though the shipping price seems far too expensive to be standard shipping, especially if this person lives in the states.

Pretty shady stuff there. There's nothing technically untrue about the listing - it simply says the game is brand new and nothing has been used. Also tries to hype up Stealth Elf by saying she's one of the best out there. Given the fact that the game conveniently covers up where Dark Spyro and Ignitor would be, I'd guess this is someone who got the $50 3DS deal and just wanted those two figures.

I'm curious how much it sells for... hopefully not a lot!

New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item

Well, this is not true at all... Selling an item that you took parts of it like a new one is against eBay policies... and it's kind of funny how the seller put the game to cover the empty holes of Ignitor and Dark Spyro

I saw another 3DS game some time ago on eBay.
The picture only showed the game in it's 3DS box and NOT in the Starter Pack, but it was also listed as

"brand new, never used, unopened game - comes with portal and 3 starting characters"


I would have posted a link, but it was 2 weeks ago, so I don't believe it's still there...

How is this helping someone mix and match their custom skylanders? He took away 2 characters and did nothing else, I don't really view that as helping anyone.

He should heve removed Stealth Elf and sell Dark Spyro and Ignitor with the game. if I wanted Stealth Elf I could buy her in a single pack!

They don't tell you that Dark Spyro and Ignitor are absent, but they do say you only get Stealth Elf.
But it's not new because it's been opened. Even if it was opened "to make sure everything is included" or to "test if it works"(that one might be an ebay slang for bootleg game), you still opened it.

Price gougung? Maybe if they started it at $50/retail - shipping is about average for the size/weight of the box and they're starting it at $.99, so the bidders will control how high it goes.

Eh, if someone only cares about getting the game without the exclusive characters, that's not a bad deal. Otherwise, you could just go to the store and buy it new.

There is some much worse price gouging on eBay going on than this. I agree that it is kind of lame but not a bad deal got a non-collector. At least they arnt charging $50 like many are for partial sets.

I certainly wouldn't buy it! I dislike Stealth Elf! My fave is Dark Spyro, as you can probably tell at the moment .

Dark Spyro would be one of the only reasons for me to buy the game, and- if the same goes for others- this guy won't get many bids anyway.

I guess I'm the only one that would buy it in this shape.

My main goal is to simply get one of each element. I don't need Ignitor, since I'll later be getting Sunburn. But I need a Life Skylander, and Stealth Elf is the only one that looks interesting. Plus, I also want to try the 3DS version of the game (seeing how that is what I was originally going to buy in the first place), and I'm not planning to spend almost double the price of a 3DS game at Toysrus or Best Buy. Heck, at this rate, the entire package would be even cheaper than Stealth Elf alone (not including S&H). So I would definitely go for it, since my bid would end up being the only bid.

As for Dark Spyro................I already have normal Spyro, and Legendary Spyro since he came with Bash and Chop Chop. I have absolutely no need for Dark Spyro. If I was to get Dark Spyro with the game, I would just sell it.

Disclaimer: I am selling a 3DS pack on EBay - I have substituted the Dark Spyro and Ignitor figurines with an Eruptor one I had spare.

I am now glad that I included the Eruptor figurine in the pack that I am selling as I would have felt guilty if I had inadvertently sold something which was not playable past the first level.

For the record, I very clearly state the contents of my pack and what has been removed. I set an initial price which I thought was fair (somewhat lower than Oz RRP) and will let the market dictate what it should sell for.

I ended up sending a question to the seller to see if they'll change the listing to say someone would need more figures.

If i sold the 3ds version with out Dark spyro or Ignitor I would buy a three skylanders pack so they have them + Stealth elf

I'm starting to think that this guy is a dS member, since people here have mentioned wanting to get the 3DS version, and sell the game while keeping Dark Spyro and Ignitor.

It's not really that shady. Everyone who knows what they're buying would know to get this if they have plenty of character and want to get a chance to play the 3ds version for cheap. This item won't sell for more than $40. And I don't think the seller intends for it to sell for more anyway.

If it wasnt for the $12 shipping charge I'd probably bid on it at this price I do admit =P

Oh, I don't think it's shady, per se - I just think that the seller should have elaborated more that the game wouldn't be playable without another Skylander, since it may be a parent trying to buy this for their child for Christmas. I think what makes it "shady" to a lot of people is the way they've laid everything out so it doesn't look like anything is missing. They did "sort of" correct their listing by saying people would need two Skylanders for the tag-team feature, but are yet to say that you need them for 99% of the game.

Eh... the one I bid on IS new and unopened. As I was saying: I wouldn't bid on a game with just Stealth Elf in it. (and I don't need to bid on such a game, because I already have it )

The only thing I find shady about this is that no returns are allowed.

So if this guy damaged the game somehow, you'd be scammed out of money.

It depends.... From what I know, if you buy something from eBay and it doesn't work (and the seller does not warn you of this), you can claim your money back. 90% of the time eBay will side with the buyer.

I wouldn't say shady, really. Unless it's damaged, like CAV said.

I mean, this site also has kind of the same deal. Except it's not eBay.
