I'm thinking it would be way cheaper and easier to get it from eBay (as much as people hate it):

As much as I dislike the WiiU I would much rather put $100+ towards the system that includes everything than I would to pay that just for the figure itself. Some of those auctions have asking prices over $170....I really hope people aren't that desperate to get this single figure. It will probably come out carded sometime next year like Gnarly did especially considering the fact that that WiiU is selling so poorly. But then again, there are people willing to buy a 2nd WiiU just to get the figure.

Can someone educate me on how Wii U are packaged? I ask because online I see a 8GB with this bundle but they offer a 32GB system...also is this flash memory for game storage, in game memory or what?

The 8GB model as been discontinued by Nintendo, has been for a few months now to my knowledge. In reality even the 32GB system isn't that great for storing downloaded games, a percent of the base memory is used with the system software even. The memory is for storing saved games, downloaded games, everything I believe?

It makes perfect sense for a non WiiU owner to buy the bundle over the figure alone. For those of us who already own a WiiU, it makes more sense (even potentially at $170) to buy just the figure. Around this area (Ontario) you can't sell a white WiiU console. Prices in store continue to drop drastically, in fact there was one sale recently for $179.99 and they still don't sell! Nintendo should've held off on releasing the Zelda and Mario bundles until the white WiiU stock dried up a bit more I'm thinking. I'm sorry but I'm REALLY sick of people thinking this will come out carded at some point, despite Gnarly Tree Rex! He was in "in-game" variant, this gold Wash Buckler is NOT. This would be closer compared to the Green Gill Grunt that came with the Xbox360 last Christmas. He was only physically variant, exactly like this Wash Buckler!

Sorry guys, but this is a complete waste of money unless you need a Wii U. It's a new looking Wash Buckler with the same original Wash Buckler card and online code...kind of like Pumpkin Eye Brawl. But then again, if Pumpkin Eye Brawl wasn't available as a single figure and was bundled with a system, we'd see the exact same thing as we're seeing right now with this new Wash Buckler....some yahoo on Ebay selling the loose figure for $100+ and others scrambling to buy a system they don't necessarily want or need. Not to mention this is only a 8 GB system, so you'll have limited space to download content. I got one of the Xbox 360 Spyros Adventure bundles last year with the green Gill Grunt (I didn't have the XBox 360 system or the Spyros Adventure game at the time, so it wasn't a repurchase of either for me), but it's been frustrating for me trying to get games and demos downloaded from XBox Live with such limited hard drive space. I won't ever make the same mistake again of buying a system with limited hard drive space.

Still not buying into this bundle....Mario Bundle is a much better deal...and I'm very doubtful that the exclusive wash buckler is gonna be worth much on a secondary market...There's gonna be a LOT of inventory of those figures from the looks of it.

Matteomax - When you pick it up can you post how the Wii U is packaged? Is it retail packaged? That would be a big factor on how easy it would be to resell the system. I remember the XBox system last year had a retail box but the Skylanders game was "loose". I'm expecting Swap Force to be packaged similarly this time around as well.

The 8 GB console is only fine if you only plan on a few virtual console games and updates. The 32 GB option is much better for this, because you will be hitting the limit VERY fast. The OS takes up a good chunk of the 8 GB, so you only end up getting like 5. Virtual console games tend to run about 30-100 MB, and updates vary.
Now, if you want to download WiiU games, regardless of the 8 OR 32 GB console you will need an external (preferably powered, ie with a power cable, not just US hard drive. The WiiU has an SD slot, but you cannot play games from it - it is mainly for profiles/WiiU compatibility. WiiU games run 5 or more GB typically. Put it like this, the 8 GB console will not even hold ONE game, the 32 GB might hold FIVE, tops. If you like digital games, it will be an issue. Personally, I prefer the extra space of the 32 GB even though I prefer disc games. It is enough room to breathe - I have a good selection of virtual console games and some space left over. I also have Trine 2 and Super Luigi which take up a decent chunk. I like disc games because more often than not, you can find them on sale and trade them in if necessary (I don't trade many games though, but I like the option). The Super Mario bundle, in my opinion is the far superior deal. Super Mario and Super Luigi are great games and the 32 GB console is the preferable option. If the special Wash Buckler is a big deal for you, the Skylanders bundle isn't bad - but given that he is not "in-game" and isn't "packaged", his value is greatly diminished for a collector. To me, the whole rarity factor of a figure like that is to have him in "mint condition", which if you use the WiiU makes him not "mint condition". |

I would really like one of the new Wash Buckler variants but no way I would buy a WiiU for it. WiiU sells peanuts each and every month and while the exclusive figure is nice I find it hard to believe that the figure alone is enticing enough to purchase the system. Granted it is only speculation that a single would be made available him I do think it is reasonable to consider the possibility. Gnarly came out with the Wii when interest in that system was waning. This time around you get an exclusive figure in a system nobody wants. It is possible.

LOL, people keep saying this about the WiiU, but it is Nintendo - and the really big games are getting ready to come out. So it didn't hit big early like the Wii, big deal - neither did the DS or the 3DS. Come next Spring, Mario 3D World and Mario Kart will be out and the price point is going to look awfully attractive compared to the XBOne and PS4 for parents (now that people know it is a different system, boy if I had to name one huge screw up on Nintendo's part it would be the name). Personally I'd rather play a new Mario than a new Call of Duty, but that is just me. I was in Best Buy this morning, they had PS4 available and I simply cannot justify it with the game selection in their near future, and the XBOne is practically the same. The only thing I saw worth considering (especially considering the mediocre reviews) was Swap Force, which ... yeah. |

I walked from the Wind Waker bundle specifically because the game was download and not on disc. I despise download, especially with Nintendo, where unlike something like itunes, where if you buy a new computer you can re-download the songs/movies/etc, you must use a one-time no going back transfer utility to get wii virtual games onto wii u. Call me old-fashioned...but I don't like begging people for help to get back stuff that I purchased if a console crashes.

I agree that the best is yet to come out for the WiiU, but they really dropped the ball on not having Mario Kart or Smash Brothers out by now a full year post-launch. Games are a selling point and they will have lost a MASSIVE amount of potential sales of WiiU systems since the PS4 and XBox One are now out and "the hot new thing" while there is no such buzz for WiiU. Nintendo is behind in the game and need to really dig themselves out of a big hole to recover from this fiasco of poor launch titles. The system sales following the launches of Mario Kart and Smash Brothers will determine if Nintendo can survive. They should have been out before all this competition from Sony and Microsoft. By the way, when is Nintendo releasing a new Zelda game (not that hack of a remake of Windwaker)? |

8GB isn't that big of a deal IMO. That's because 32 GB isn't that much either.
http://www.nintendo.com/consum...nal-usb-storage You can add your own external drives via USB if you need more space. There's 128GB thumb drives for pretty cheap. How about 1TB!!! Black Friday usually has crazy good deals on this type of storage. Just make sure the drive has its own external power as the WII U USB may not push enough power. |

Yes, they have made mistakes. But, in all honesty, I'd rather play a Wind Waker remake 100 times than go through Skyward Sword again. This year they are going back to the best two Zeldas, A Link To the Past and Wind Waker, one a direct sequel, the other a remake. It's a good year for Zelda. My son is getting his first introduction to Zelda with Wind Waker, and he really likes it. And next year we have Smash Brothers and Mario Kart 8 (among other unknown things). Those along with Skylanders and Super Mario 3D World will keep my kids happy a very, very long time. And don't forget Lego City (best Lego game yet), Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3 and the absolute best version of the incredible Rayman Legends. Sure, I can't buy the latest brown shooter (now with extra dirt particles) or Madden (now with REAL sweat), but I guess I'll just have to suffer ... |

Cool thanks for explanation....so I can buy the 8gb and use external usb stick if I run out is what I'm hearing, but I agree this bundle is useless for me generally speaking. I was entertaining it since I'm sure my kids will want the latest Mario games eventually but I don't like to buy the dumbed downed consoles. My Xbox 360 is still missing a hard drive because my son plays the Kinnect games but I still need to buy one.

Don't get me wrong people. I love Nintendo but I just think the WiiU is a horrible system. Nintendo made themselves look like amateurs since the launch of the console. The software has been obviously been lacking too. Constant retreads of previously released games (I'm looking at you New Super Mario and Zelda HD) will only take a company so far. This is all coming from someone who prefers platform and action/adventure games over 3rd person shooters any day.

The WiiU is a fantastic system. The marketing is what was horrible. Parents simply didn't realize it was a new console because of the name. They also didn't have the right software line up at first, and it was slow in coming. That is being corrected.
Yes, it is under-powered compared to the PS4/XBOne, but Nintendo marches to the beat of it's own drum (they are hardly ever cutting edge), besides people that buy a system purely for graphics are an often fickle crowd. The hardware is very solid, the second screen adds a ton to certain games, if handled right. The interface is great and easy to use, and the fact that they made it work as a TV/cable box remote is really nice. It's like a smart universal remote that also plays games. The Pro controller are really nice controllers and have crazy good battery life (the gamepad isn't great, but the battery in it is half the size of the space used, and they are going to sell an upgrade soon). Add in use of your old Wiimotes AND full backwards compatibility to help parents that want to upgrade, but don't want to have to keep their new console hooked up. They have lots of other really cool apps and things. In general, the system quality is great and does a whole lot people don't even realize. Mario and Zelda games will only take you so far ... like six consoles and five handheld systems (most of them vast successes) and people still want more. They games are great for all ages and almost always fun. I was not a fan of a few of them, but typically they are all very, very good. They do have new franchises that come out from time to time, people always forget about the other series: Pikmin, Party, Sports, Starfox, Smash, Kart, Paper, etc. Yes, they many times use the same characters, but they are vastly different games. To complain about "Mario" is nothing more than schoolyard logic that doesn't like him because he isn't "cool". If a parent is only going to buy their kids four or five games a year, they can always buy a Nintendo franchise and know their kids are almost certainly get their money's worth. And they can have fun playing it with them. And let's face it, we are on a forum for Skylanders, so it isn't like "mature" games are a requirement for this crowd. I'd probably recommend an XBox 360 to someone that was looking for that. If you are a parent and want something for the kids, a WiiU is a solid bet. If you already have a Wii, it is a sure bet. |

Wii U will likely have the best game of the holiday season in Super Mario 3D world and has a pretty good software library already (New Super Mario/Luigi Bros. U, Pikmin 3, Lego City Undercover, Wind Waker - fantastic remake btw, Super Mario 3D World, Wonderful 101, etc.).
IMO, now is a pretty good time to buy a Wii U especially when compared to the launch lineups for the Xbone and PS4. |

Wii U isn't horrible. Horrible is something that doesn't work at all. It works. I have a Wii U and an Xbox 360 so I can compare a little.
The problem with the Wii U launch was that there was very few good titles, it was not cheap, and the Interface was slow. When I say slow I don't mean games are slow compared to the Xbox, I mean switching between menus is slow. And it's still really slow IMO. If I click on 'Settings' I expect to go there within a couple seconds, and the Wii U just doesn't. Also, for the money I felt it should have at least played DVDs. If it did, then it'd at least be usable in a home entertainment sort of way. Blu-Ray would have been better. It is hyped for the media center aspect, but it just doesn't deliver at all IMO. XBOne though, that'll have a ton of more functionality than the Wii U. With a new deal with the NFL, I'm hoping to watch Football on 1/2 my screen, the other 1/2 gaming. Wii U wont have anything near that. But I can play all sorts of games with it just fine. XBOne and PS4 will absolutely have a ton more power, but the Wii U Skylanders runs just fine. What you need to look at more, IMO, is the cost. When the Wii is $100 and Xbox360 is $350, that's a big difference. However, when a Wii U is $300, that's a lot different. If Wii U, PS4 and XBOne were all released at the same time, I think the far better money would be for the newer consoles. So, if you're going shopping soon (and have the extra $$$) I suggest a new console and just keep the old wii around, it still plays your old games. |

The Wii U is by no means a bad system. Nintendo just got most things to do with selling it wrong.
Poor launch lineup, over priced and almost unfinished UI for release. With the current lineup, recent updates and lower prices? I would say it's a great deal. I will not be buying either "next-gen" consoles. They are a waste of money as far as I can see. |

I didn't mean to turn this into a WiiU discussion thread but since we are all throwing out our opinions about the system I will do the same. There are many reasons why I consider the WiiU a horrible system. The short battery life of the gamepad, the short distance the gamepad can be taken from the system during play, single touch screen, limited games (currently), the need to buy different controllers from what is included in the console box to play many games, the bulky cumbersome gamepad, the uncomfortable and unnatural feeling of playing with another screen (TV and gamepad), the UI, the paltry Hard Drive....etc, etc.

Here are the contents inside the box:

Does he show up differently in the game, like Special or anything?
Personally I think the colors don't work that great on him (something about that metallic just is odd on Skylanders) but I'd hope that we'll see a single pack release at some point in the future. (although given that Gnarly Rex was an actual variant, this might be unlikely for Washy) Actually, I kind of wonder if this'll be like the 360 thing they did last year and we'll see either a lot of 8GB Wii Us on craigslist, or the game and stuff by itself. Either way, you could probably pick up the things much cheaper than regular retail. Hopefully in the future, the bundles will all be 32GB ones. Like defpally pointed out, the 8GB isn't that great if you plan on downloading titles and stuff from the eshop and since that's growing pretty good right now more people will have to get an external harddrive for stuff.
