Won't a quit/reload restore them, though? Or do they "stay" used since the hub is special? |

Probably stating the obvious but... since this trick is based on attack speed you can sometimes improve the amount collected by upgrading attacks or using alternate attacks. Experiment!
Also consider investing in a turbo-fire controller if you plan to do this for a lot of Skylanders. ![]() |

Wash Bucklers bottom attack can rack up the cash quick with this. I used it to upgrade all the other swaplanders bottoms because he made the most $$$ by far.

Wow, using the Wash Buckler bottom with the Tentacoolest path on any given swaplander, I can just hold down the B button until the sky diamond expires and it gives me 5000+ gold every time.

dont know if you guys know. but when you play with 2 skylanders (co op) they share the gold gain.
grab 2 controllers. set up both skylanders at seperate dummies. pop the skydiamond on. and start attacking with both characters. (set controllers down and just spam x on both, or whatever works best for you) regular attacks on my lvl 1 blast zone with 0 gold got me 5k |

Re-confirming it works on the PS3, in case the title makes people think it's 360-only.
Some of the Giants seem to need to be a little more "mobile" when performing this trick, because they're too big to conveniently stand on the spot where the Diamonds are being generated. If you walk around the training dummy a bit while attacking them, the Giant should be able to pick them up. Definitely something to be used in moderation this early in the game's life. Otherwise, you'll have had it for a week, all your new 'landers will have maxed out abilities, you'll have purchased everything in the shop, and hopefully you WON'T wonder why you're feeling bored all of a sudden. I'll use it on occasion, especially because I'm more of a collector than a player - I have figures well over a year old, like Sunburn, who I've never had the time to get a single upgrade for! |

Thanks for the confirmation on the multiple-platform viability of this "trick". Apologies for going off-topic a bit, but ...... blasphemy! How could leave poor Sunburn un-utilized for over a year!? Sunburn rocks. :-)

So far I find Grilla Drilla can rack most gold with banana turret path. About 9-10k per use. I use his bottom part with other top for about 7k per use.
I find this trick is very useful to test out different upgrade paths since I don't want to buy duplicate figures. |

I was almost going to get my own sky diamond... but then I thought I may as well borrow my kds sky diamond. Also, I'm going to cut this down a little, and use it when I get stuck trying to get gold.

Funny, that's exactly what I do with penniless Skylanders. Also, the amount of gold now goes beyond 65,000 in Swap Force.

Best I've found is a combo of Grilla Drilla and 'anyone' Ranger I was raking in up to 8k, though I don't want to power level everyone and miss out on the game itself, so while some of my characters have excess money - and I'll use it to reset some of my S1 & S2 characters - I didn't pick any paths or anything and when I feel comfortable doing it, I'll upgrade the new characters. - Unreall |

Also to add to the Diamond trick, if you have gotten past Cascade glade, everytime you go out of
game to reset the sky diamond there are several other places to collect money: 1.) Where the hat was near the main gate is now a present with a diamond in it. 2.) There is a elemental chest and a spark chest in the Great hollow. |

As xatria stated above, quitting to the menu and reloading works too, and i think it's faster than going into and out of a random level. Also, if you've a second controller, plug it in and double-wail on the dummies, i get between 16-20k each go!

it works even better with someone like fire kraken, or star strike. when you have someone that can hit the dummy targets as fast as possible.

Does the difficulty level also give you additional gold? It seemed that setting the difficulty to Nightmare increased our take on the training dummies.

It would be difficult for some of the Skylanders that don't have melee-based combo attacks such as Spyro, who shoots fireballs at a very slow pace. But here's what I did in order to do it faster with him. At first I kept canceling Dragon's Fire (Attack 1) into Charge (Attack 3) for a quick two-hit combo over and over again. That should easily make you enough money to purchase Spyro's Flight ability. Then you can do Dragon's Fire, cancel it into Spyro's Flight (Attack 3) and then immediately cancel that into Charge in quick succession. Basically doing the fireball, flight and charge quickly one after another to get as many hits in possible. If you happen to go into the Sheep Burner Spyro path and learn Fire Shield, you'd net even more hits for that combo since it adds an extra hit to Dragon's Fire, allowing you to make even more money from the three-hit combo per half a second.
Just an example of how I did it with Mega Ram Spyro last night. I don't know if the previous Skylanders games had the ability to cancel (as in the fighting game term) but it's extremely helpful. Especially battling against real enemies. So for the Skylanders that don't have quick-hitting attacks or combos, you can basically make them up yourself by canceling abilities into one another. Experiment!

I've found if it is a slow character just add another Skylander as player 2 (like Wash Buckler) and go crazy as they both earn the gold as it is collected.

Yeah, I wanted to power up my dark spyro, so I just put a second player on there as free ranger so I could just 'hold the button', and held the button while spyro shot fireballs. Due to coordination, I didn't do anything fancy with spyro...just mashed the fireball button.
