Now that all the Swap Force figures have been revealed should we assume that the last five figures that didn't make it from Spyro's Adventure simply aren't going to be reposed again? Those figures of course being: Sunburn, Boomer, Ghost Roaster, VooDood and Dino-Rang. Obviously we are going to see, at the very least, one more Skylanders game but I wonder if Activision has any intentions of bringing back all figures at some point or will they just let some "die" sorta speak? And then looking at the Giants figures that didn't make it I wonder who of those could never be made again. For example it seems like the undead slot for Ghost Roaster and Fright Rider is cursed. I am sure there is other examples of this in the other elements but those to figures just happen to be some of my favorites.

Omg. This needs to stop. Why the hell does everyone refer to them as forgotten or dead? They're obviously not going to bring every single figure back for every game....and you guys need to accept that. Missed out on them the first time? Well, that's just too bad now isn't it?

There really is no need to be all snarky about this. "Forgotten" (or in this case "Dead") is just a classification word. Common classification words at that. Many have stated also before that they hadn't gotten into skylanders pre-giants. I'm positive this will happen again with swap force. Kids go nuts for mix and much figures, or at least I did when I was younger, I kind of still do. Personally I see it as this: Forgotten just means that these figures have gone a game without a repose and only had one version of themselves to begin with. (Ex. Fright Rider, Swarm, HotHead, Eye-Brawl, and Thumpback) Sprocket was fairly close to becoming this too, but she has a S2 in SSF so its all good. The Dead 5 are already mentioned in the original post. It does seem rather sad that Undead seems to be cursed when it comes to their number of forgottens and deads.
Note: I don't add chase/special variants to a multiple release of a figure, so Glitter HotHead, GitD Fright Rider, and Pumpkin/Metallic Purple Eye-Brawl don't count. |

Well I didn't expect them to light core wham shell so its possible they will repose them in the next game. I think its dumb to repose so many figures in one game (giants). They should've done like 8 of them then do more in the next game. It would've been easier on the wallet and probably easier to find them. Oh well.

Your reply was uncalled for. Obviously they aren't going to bring every character back each game but I think it is also a good idea to think about which ones may never return again. The main reason for me starting this thread was based off the the interview SkylanderDad had with Guha Bala in which SkylanderDad asked if they were "trying to bring back some of the old Series 1 figures" in which Mr. Bala replied that "There is only so many that we can introduce in each set, but there is so much variety that we can pick the ones that we really want so that you can play the adventure that you really want to play". While you can certainly look at that both ways, I think it left open the possibility that some may never return as well. I just think it would be interesting to think about what figures we may never see being remade again.

I wasn't targeting you, almost the entire forum refers to them as forgotten or whatever. I'm sorry if I sounded rude, but I really think people need to get over the fact that not every character is going to come back.

People's reactions aren't unjustified, you know. There are five figures that haven't been seen since the first game and, due to discontinuing production, are very hard to get hold of. Surely, instead of reposing the same characters YET AGAIN... They could consider putting five of the characters (of the same elements possibly) into "retirement" for the third game, and let the other five have a game in which they can shine? I mean, I'm fortunate; I got into the game when it first came out and so I have at least one of each character, but some people are only just getting into it and knowing that they can't get at least one of each character (variants not withstanding) without parting with some serious cash has got to be a deterrent? |

I think we all realize that not all figures will be returning. My point was that we have 5 figures from the original game that didn't make it into the following two games. Regardless of whether you are a collector, a fan, just a casual player or the dreaded scalper I think everyone is interested in what figures stay and what figures stay with each new iteration of the game. I hardly think that just because people put a name or a label on a group of figures that didn't make it to this years game means we all have a problem dealing with the possibility of them not returning.

I pretty sure the unreposed are unreposed because they weren't big sellers. I personally believe there should never have been any reposed figures. Each new game should of had a new roster and the old figures usable in the new games.

I actually hoped for a return of Fright Rider :x Doesn't seem like many liked him but I found the character(s) really comical and useful. A repose of Fright would have made my day! Or even a light core Sunburn.
Ah, what does the future hold! For now, I'm just excited for the lightcore Whamshell. Then I'll just be missing Ghost Roaster and Boomer |

I actually agree with this, although I admit that I did upgrade some of my Series 1 figures for Series 2 (or Lightcore), because I preferred the new poses. I don't think I will extend the same thing for Swap Force, to be honest. I'll get Lightcores, but most likely won't be buying any more re-poses. |

For those that say we need to get over it, there's some small truth to it in the over all scheme of life, but it is something worth discussing and being upset about. With each game, the intention is to get more and more players. Giants brought in a lot more players. I know my son didn't get into Sklanders until Giants mainly because we couldn't afford it. They pushed a huge sale on Giants around Christmas time, so someone picked it up for him. We've been able to somehow find all the figures except for Boomer (and until recently Ghost Roaster). They are figures that he really wants because he wants the entire collection. But because they refuse to re-release him, then that makes it difficult. It does kill me, because I'm thinking I may have found a Boomer when we picked up a few Skylanders on Black Friday (knowing he was going to get the game for Christmas) because I remember trying to decide which ones to get and his favorite color was green, so I picked up 2 figures that were green and ended up settling on Stealth Elf because I thought she looked cooler. I know the other wasn't Dino Rang because I remember seeing him on promotional materials later and thought he would like him, too. Being that we knew nothing about Skylanders, I can't be 100% sure it was Boomer, but either way, now we're stuck without him because they refuse to re-release him.
If they don't want to re-pose them for new games, I can understand, but they should still find someway of getting them. I used to collect Star Wars figures, so I know there's eventually a point where they stop making some figures to make room for others, but they also repackaged a lot of the characters as well. They could do the same with Skylanders. Plus Skylanders is different as they intend on making each game compatible with previous figures and as people get into the new games, they decide to go back and buy the previous games (like we did with SSA) and would want the characters for that game. I don't know the best way of doing that. Should the continue making SSA & Giants figures? Or do they repackage them with the new look (i.e. Swap Force or whatever game is in the future) and mark them in a special way that denotes they are S1. That may seem confusing, but they will still work with those games. As for them picking characters that don't sell that well to get rid of, why did they bring Flashwing back? There are thousands of them just warming the pegs everywhere. They could have easily gotten rid of her and brought back Dino Rang to replace her. Sprocket wasn't too popular either, so why not bring Boomer back? Even if those two weren't hot sellers (I know I heard about Boomer being everywhere, but I don't know about Dino Rang), they are now highly sought after. That's how they can keep interest. Don't repose the figures that are super common and bring back characters that have been difficult to find (even if they weren't hot sellers on initial release). I can understand them not reposing some of the SSA figures that weren't hot sellers, but now that they are difficult to find, why not bring them back and get rid of characters in Giants that weren't hot sellers? With that said, since Darklight Crypt has suddenly made a re-appearance (after a trickle of some of the other forgotten 8), I'm having hope that Boomer will make a re-appearance as well. |

I tend to agree, even if the message is a bit rough around the edges. Fact: Not every skylander is going to get reposed on a given game. Especially your favorites. Fact: Some skylanders may never return. Fact: Time to face the facts. I get the venting piece. I may very well not like Swap Force's character upgrade mechanism, and I'll be sure to vent here. I've stopped thinking logically when it comes to Activision's decisions. Some of it may be a "projection" and a decision was made a bit before the final sales numbers are known. Or, it may be plain illogical. Your last statement though sounds like something Activision would NEVER do.

The original post was not sounding upset to me. Just stating some facts and thoughts.
I think it's fine if they don't repose those characters as long as they continue to put them into the new games. There are only really two problems with the lack of reposes: missing Wow Pows and the scarcity of the figures. The Wow Pows would be nice, but many of them end up being useless anyway, so there's no telling if like Dino-Rang would even get a useful Wow Pow. The scarcity just stinks for newcomers who fall in love with Swap Force and beyond, but can't find a Boomer for less than triple MSRP. |

All characters are playable in Swap Force with new HD models...so they are far from being "dead". Slam Bam is even in the new trailer and he gets no repose.
I do wonder though if I should go back and get some older SA characters I wanted or wait to see if they get a repose in the 4th game. |

I give Activision huge respect for programming all the previous games figures into each game. To me that makes up for some of there otherwise greedy tactics that they commit. Problem I see is that to some wanting to play the older characters but not having access to them causes another issue. Having a fan buy a figure on ebay at an inflated price is a missed opportunity for Activision to make even more money. I know they hate money but if a figure sells for 3 times it's amount online that is another possible two figures Activision could have sold directly.

I agree with you. The fact that the characters have all been compatible with each new game, even the less popular and "retired" characters, adds a huge amount of value to them, as they are still relevant. However, because of this, I would definitely like to see them reprint the older characters if not just repose them to stop the price gouging. We can be 100% sure that people would buy up any of those retired Skylanders if they saw them on shelves for a normal price again, as most Skylanders fans are aware that these guys are going for inflated prices, and other people still need them for their collections. |

It's kind of upsetting seeing the 6th Spyro already.
They're doing this with "popular" (aka well-selling/dev fav for some reason) characters. We're going to tire of them soon upgrading them over and over, no matter how much we enjoyed them at first. ... I also wish that they would showcase Magic Skylanders other than Spyro and Fire Skylanders other than Eruptor more often, would be nice seeing more Voodood and Sunburn ...

Spyro and Eruptor to them are core skylanders. Even at the NYC Ninjini event they had person in a huge eruptor costume, a person as gill grunt and stealth elf. They consider these guys what the skylanders are. Much like alot of giants stuff showed crusher (more so target as shirts had granite on them) or tree rex. Sadly this means they may keep coming.
Thou if you noticed they did release spyro late in giants to his defense, and now wave 1 in swap force. if you don't count the 3ds SSA and the uk singles dark spyro for many never existed. So i figure most kids have series 1 spyro and those that skipped SSA have series 2 spyro. I hate to say it but I think we will keep seeing some of these guys every game. If ppl stop buying them but keep buying the newer ones, maybe Acti will get the point. |
