(yes the 8bit Nintendo game) smokes 99% of what came out in the 7th gen - and I bet the 8th gen too - but the game can be beaten in a matter of 30 minutes. A lot of us got that game the day the Nintendo came out, for - I think - 50 bucks?

I mean, it's your call. If you can't afford it, avoid it like the plague. However, 17 + 2 (Swap Force) is better than 16 and none (Giants). Online would only be good if trolls didn't come and ruin the experience, by doing dumb things.

Sure, I would like a longer Skylanders game, through the release of many Adventure Packs, but I will take what I can get in an era of endless gritty sequels that do nothing to further itself (Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty), and sports games that cost 60 bucks for glorified roster updates (Madden).

And for the re-colored variants thing, you don't have to get ALL of them, just like you don't have to get every version every Skylander, or even all the corelanders

It's irritating to the nth degree that all the discussion in this thread has been is petty insults towards the OP, almost completely ignoring the points he made. It's all be 'Shut up!' and that's it.

I've been seeing more and more people either get burnt out on the series or are being turned off from the games because they don't fix any issues it has or try to innovate, (AKA Activision Syndrome). I think the slowing popularity of the series is an issues that's going to come up a lot in discussions soon. Mindless fanboyism is not the way to go. Activision IS inevitably going to suck this cash cow dry just like Guitar Hero. I'm still having fun with it but I've reduced my figure collecting a lot partly because of the price increase and partly because it's not worth having all the figures when you can barely even fully upgrade ten of them per playthough. Skylanders has issues and it's a shame that they probably won't be addressed before the hype train dies out. People are moving onto Infinity as their new novelty gimmick and I've seen people who have disregarded Skylanders because 'OMG they killed Spyro!' decide they want to try out Infinity instead.

You do have a lot of valid points. There are a few issues with skylanders, but we haven't even got to play skylanders swap force. How are we to know Activision doesn't fix these flaws in skylanders swap force? Also, I feel like this topic should really be closed. This topic has caused many users to argue and call each other names. It is fine to discuss this, but in a different topic. This topic has caused way too much useless rage.

The only thing pointless about this thread is that you and several other people keep parroting that you want it closed over and over again. Just because you disagree with what he says doesn't make it wrong.

The reason I want it closed is not because I disagree what he is saying. It is that this topic is causing unnecessary rage and arguments. For example, I heard skylanders be called cheap, waste of money, and terrible. I also heard DI being called a rip-off, worst game ever, and boring. We each have our own opinions which should be respected. Some of us like skylanders, some of us like disney infinity, and some of us like both. We should not bash each other for this. This topic should be closed due to the insulting and arguing on both sides.

You brought up some valid points about Skylanders and Infinity. And to be honest, I think I'm also going to sit out on Swap Force, but not for Infinity... but for Pokémon!

Pokémon can seem repetitive and boring, but you don't have to pay $10.00 for every new Pokémon! That is my main complaint about Skylanders. They NEED to lower the price of everything by at least $2.00!

They would still be making boatloads of money, but $10.00 JUST for a new character?! THAT is overpriced.

Well, we can at least be glad they didn't raise prices to what TRU did with Giants, which is 10.99 for singles, 12.99 for Lightcores, and 25.99 for Triples.

TRU started that trend with SSA, and every store did it for Giants. However, prices are staying at 9.99, 11.99, 14.99, and 24.99... thank God.

I do wish they were the old price though.

My schedule twice so far:

Dec. 25: Get into the Skylanders Games.
May: Think about how much money I wasted, and hate the game.
September: Look up the game and decide to get it, for Christmas.

And repeat! That' what happened from SSA to SG, and from SG to SSF. My anger with the series doesn't last long.

I remember names of those who are saying they're done. I am curiously waiting for them to start talking about Swap Force, as if they bought it (which means they probably did).

As a family that have the original SSA and Giants with all of the base figures and also have now brought Infinity and have also preordered Swapforce i cant say that we are done with it but i certainly will not be hunting around for the figures as much this time.

I'll start by pointing out that we love Skylanders and cant wait for swapforce but i also agree with some of the OP points.

Yes Giants was a very lazy game due to the fact it used the exact same game and by that i mean the same code as SSA but with a few tweaks for charcters and re-designed levels and that was it.

So far after owning Infinity for 2 weeks i can say that while the game itself is nowhere near as good or engaging as Skylanders the Toy Box part is superb and when designers get to grips with it we will see some very good stuff to download and from what ive seen so far skylanders type levels would be easy enough to create in time.

We have built a few different games and so far i am really impressed with the results and the free downloads have ranged from ok to wow.

The Infinity Power discs are a rip off though so i hope that Disney do not go down the same road and try to rip us off and stay ethical about the releases which of course Acti have not been.

The main issue i have with Skylanders is the Figures or at least the Variants , Like most kids they want them all and so far when i look at the LIghtcore, Reposes and Variants that i have either had to buy or can not find to buy that are really just the same on screen with a different skin, thats when i start to question on what to buy for Swapforce.

There are so many different rare figures that its nigh on impossible to get them all and even the not so rare ones are difficult enough when there are so many that get them just to sell on Ebay and i refuse to give them the cash.
And of course even with new characters you still only get to play the same levels over and over.

So yep i am looking forward to Swapforce but this time i wont be sinking shed loads of money into as i can already see with the Dark versions of some characters Acti are really going to try to milk it and that for me is too far this time.

But still cant wait until Oct 18th :-)

I don't see why people are berating the OP for this topic; it's not like anywhere anyone else is being berated for still liking Skylanders.

I openly admit that when I first saw Swap Force, I had NO interest whatsoever and my interest has only been piqued in recent times. Even now it's not as huge an enthusiasm as I had for the first two games. But I still want to give it a go. I don't think people are here for attention and reactions and honestly, if that's what you think, then why not just NOT POST and then you won't be "giving them the satisfaction".

Both are ripoffs. Both are overpriced games that cause you to buy other items to unlock stuff that's already in the game. That's the truth to it, but ppl like it so it's that way, I personally like skylanders figures themselves and the box art is amazing. Now the toys to life part i love to and the game play is fun but i do feel it needs to be longer and have online play. I really wish online was with swap force. I know the wii is the reason for lack of stuff but they could find ways around it. I do feel however skylanders 4 will have online play to some extent, possibly a rip-off of toy box from DI, and a 4-player mode. They could easily make skylander 4 and make it a two year came if they did DLC and the such but they prob won't

As for the Disney game. it's different. I played it for about 2hrs tonight with my son in the western long ranger's world. It def aint skylanders, it was ok to run around and do quests but I felt like I was playing a scaled down version of world of warcraft to some extent. I did enjoy the openness of the game and how you can shot triggers for the train and such. I'm not sure how this would work into skylanders unless they made some skylander world like game, it could happen. I feel both games are different enough to both be made and around.


So for skylanders 4 i'd love to see:
1. Online fully in, can be chatless if needed (since it's a kids game) thou parents not watching there kids playing games is their fault.
2. 4-player skylanders either online and local. Might need to code game for 2 portals etc.
3. Some sort of armor/item use expanding farther then hats. Think diablo but simpler for kids to understand the use.
4. DLC to expand the game and fix bugs

Well, it could be worse, Slayer. Thet could have done what developers do now adays. They lock content on the disc, and charge 5 bucks for an unlock key.

Imagine if they did that with all but like 8 Skylanders? At least this way, you get physical toys to hold for slightly more money, and they do more than what action figures do. I've seen people pay 70 dollars for this Link from Zelda figure. Slightly taller than a Skylander, can only be posed and sit on someone's shelf. It doesn't level to 10-20 and upgrade, yet someone paid 70 bucks for it?

I do think there is a place for a thread that thoughtfully discusses the Skylanders series and what its strengths/weaknesses are. Unfortunately, this thread has been largely antagonistic. And that's not helped when the perception is that the original poster is really shilling for Infinity (to fully understand this thread you need to read it in conjunction with the original poster wrote in the Infinity Vs Swapforce thread).

The one comment I will make is that this forum seems to be home to a great many collectors, and for those people the choice seems to be buy all Swapforce or buy none of Swapforce - but that really is a false dichotomy.
That's not how most people play the game and it’s also not what the developers are really intending - and while the developers obviously will encourage and reward you for 'catching them all', Swapforce (like the previous games) is probably MORE fun with a LIMITED number of toys.
The idea that you HAVE to collect them all is frankly silly, and people can have a ton of fun with just the starter set (that's doubly true if you have a handful of figures from the previous games).

Look, TBH just stop. Close the topic. Make one called "Skylander Improvements" though there is probably plenty already, and post thing you want improved in skylanders, no hate comments no BS just improvements. If you really don't want it don't get it. take this rant to a DI since you decided to bring this into it for no reason. And you dont have to get variants,S2/S3 or lightcores, they don't have their own gap in the characters screen. I have chosen to get the vanilla version of all skylanders + the legendaries. This is my choice and i'm willing to pay for the costs. Also love the drillocke challenge. sorry i forgot whose idea it was. Damn these posts are long. 3. This where you are wrong. For like the 4th or 5th time: I am NOTsaying Skylanders is a bad game, I still like it and play it from time to time. I even admitted that I might get Swap Force later in the year if my wallet comes out of the hospital and more importantly: if my parents will allow it (I wanted to get it from the start anyway), just wouldn't immediately get it on the first day it comes out. My point is though, Skylanders has GREAT, GREAT, GREAT potential to become one of the greatest video games of all time and much better than it already is. That potential however, has been wasted by Toys for Bob and Activison, rushing the game into market and focusing much more on the toy collecting rather than the actual gameplay. It's still pretty cool right now, but if you think about it, it it could've been (and still can be) 4x times cooler than it turned out. Next time, read before ignorantly criticizing. No matter how much you love and defend it to death, Skylanders is not perfect (or even near perfection) the way it is now and there's more than enough room for improvement for all of the reasons I listed above; as with any other game. But as long as people keep buying these toys and games, no one's gonna even try to improve it.

In fact, part of the reason I want SWAP Force is because I learned that Toys for Bob isn't the one developing it anymore and Vicarious Visions take their place (besides developing the new toys and junk), I have a feeling they can do it better. Next time, read before ignorantly criticizing, please.

4. No I didn't, if anything, you and a few other users here are the offenders, not me. I didn't attack them for their opinions or even start the arguments, these people just somehow either misunderstood what I was trying to say, or just plain went ballistic about it like Aura24 said. You can disagree with me all you want and you are entitled to your opinions, but do you have to bark at me like a rabid dog just because of it? If you people hadn't kept stomping on me, I wouldn't have anything rude to say. I was simply just defending my own opinions.

5. Doesn't matter whether anyone tells me or not, you're still not my boss and can't tell me what to do.

The only thing pointless about my thread is you people attacking me for no good reason.
