…Is a random dungeon generator.
I mean, reviews and articles have described Skylanders as ‘Diablo for kids’ and so it seems like an obvious feature for the series. Particularly as you have (in my case) 98 Skylanders to level up. I mean, the heroic quests are fun the first fifty or so times, but a random level generator would sure add to the longevity.
In my ideal world it would be something unlocked after the main campaign and would consist of random islands built out of the game’s existing art assets. Each island would get harder as you explore them, you could scatter about special items (wheels, charms, hats) randomly and you could even through in a leaderboard that shows how many islands you’ve made it through.
You’d have to trade in the artistic level design and clever hiding places of the main series, but you’d get an unpredictable place to explore and level up your tiny plastic army.

Yeah.
Actually, a similar feature would improve the longevity of most games.

I was thinking more like this: http://www.diablowiki.net/Rand...ration_and_Size Perhaps a 'set' map every ten maps or so with a boss battle. |

That's the thing with random dungeon generation, there's only so many pattern sets for the game to use. Even Diablo gets boring after awhile. You would have to have multiple themes to keep it interesting. First Diablo game only had about 5 themes, each theme lasted around 4-5 levels.

You mean Flip the Script didn't do it for you in terms of randomness

Uh, does Pokemon Mystery Dungeon ring a bell to anyone else? You go to the exact same dungeon, same enemies and things like that, different layout. That would be perfect. AND after about ten times in a dungeon, the boss comes and after defeating it, a new dungeon pops up. Pretttyyy epic.

Okay, you were just accidentally awesome. The guys that made Xcom made a big deal about how their engine couldn't do random - and I was worried that perhaps the same would be true of the Skylanders' engine. But as you point out, they can already do random teleporting - so each 'level' on the dungeon can just be 50 or so islands, with each trip being six or seven of them islands in random order... and then each level is a different set of islands. BAM! Easy. |

Yeah, totally. It's not a magic bullet by any means... but it would be a nice start. If nothing else, it could be fun trying to get deeper to work your way up the leaderboard. |
