The backstory of the Dark Skylanders: http://blog.us.playstation.com...ition-revealed/

While on a special mission, a team of Skylanders discovered a secret lair where Kaos was experimenting with a new discovery – Petrified Darkness – which he initially intended to use to stage a coup against Skylands. In their fight to stop Kaos, the lair exploded, releasing a cloud of pure Darkness. The Skylanders knew they couldn’t let it escape, so they absorbed this energy, transforming them into dark versions of themselves. Fortunately, Spyro learned to tame that darkness within him long ago. So with his help, these Skylanders now have also learned to control it – combining its power with their own to fight Kaos and the forces of evil.

It should be on all consoles, though I'm not sure if it has been confirmed that it'll be on PS4 and XBO, and it'll cost $100.

Well, according to Gamestop, it's available on all consoles that the regular starter pack is on, except for XBO and PS4 which hasn't been confirmed yet, and the current price is $99.99.

I wouldn't say that, Gnarly Tree Rex was exclusive to the new super ultra awesome special Wii pack, and now we're having singles of him, so I wouldn't put past Activision to give them all single packs by the second half of 2014

We found out about the "Collectors Edition" starter pack from Coolshop, a UK retailer. Assuming it'll be exclusive to one store in each country/territory, does this mean that the Dark Edition Starter Pack will be exclusive to Coolshop in the UK?

I'm gonna try it out, pre-order it and see if it's the same thing, a different "collectors edition" or if it'll get taken down in a few weeks.

(It's here if you want to take a look - and only £70)

I can't imagine that there would be more than one collector's pack. So the Dark starter probably is the collector's edition.

Hmm.. the collector's edition is pretty rad. Still, $99 is a bit too big for me to drop, even though you get the extra characters. I'm afraid I'll have to pass this up, so hopefully they'll come out with these guys in singles/triple packs as well.


It's cool that they're doing it for all systems though, and seemingly the other countries as well.

Even less interested in the Dark variants after seeing the color schemes in game. Comes across as black leather and chrome. That would have worked for Fryno and the whole motorcycle theme, maybe Roller Brawl. These though.... Not so much IMO.
