So I decided with the dozen or so Skylanders I am yet to start levelling, that I would take them through all of the Heroic Challenges first.

As you all know, when you play a Heroic Challenge, the oh-so-cool announcer voice often "helpfully" tells you when you're halfway through a challenge, how much time you have left, and so on.

This would be excellent... Except in Wrecking Ball's challenge, he lets me know I'm halfway through when I have 50/75 charms!

Are there any other instances of bad maths or silly mistakes in any other Heroic Challenges?

I get the same thing in Flameslinger's challenge... I think it's 25 you need to get and it tells me I'm halfway there anyway between 8 and 16.

There's the helpful:

• When two teleporters appear on-screen at once, the one in the centred of the screen is always the correct one
  
• Terrafin is able to burrow under bounce pods during Chop-Chop's challenge, thus skipping most of the difficult parts
  
• Characters with ranged attacks can simply shoot the thieves dead during the "Stop Sheep Thieves" challenge
  

Baffling:

• If Ghost Roaster uses his Extoplasm attack to skip over the mines and reach the finish point before taking the teleporter in the Stealth Elf Challenge, the Rod item will not appear.
  
• Again on the Stealth Elf challenge, if you manage to kill the first two Trolls before the gate closes, you still have to view a cut scene as if they were there!
  
• If an bomb explodes while a Skylander is carrying it and against a wall in the "Get the Gems from the Elf fortress" challenge (I think that's Flameslinger's one), the animation of the bomb fuse will be stick on the wall
  
• During the Bash challenge, you get a voice telling you "You're halfway there", when you've collected 3/5 gems
  

And Pointless:

• very rarely on the "Lobs of Fun" challenge, if the final pirate is knocked off the platform and falls into the sea, it will not count and being killed and the cake required to win the challenge will not appear. This happened to me twice with L-Spyro.
  
• It is possible to both Win and Lose the "You Break it, You Buy It" challenge. Break one painting during the challenge, and as you kill the final troll also hit the final painting. You will be awarded the completion, but if you take too long selecting a new challenge Cali will state that you failed and you will dumped back to the ruins

Swoobat could be a girl, don't be sexist and judgemental about pokemon genders. Gender will not affect anything but appearance. I think ima post a pick with my politoed plushie. YAY (little school girl shout) YAY YAY.

The same happens during the Ghost Roaster challenge, now that you mention it. I sort of understand that, since you can't get 2 1/2 gems, but it is a bit baffling, I'll agree!

There really is cake? I'm assuming you play on the Wii because on the PS3 version the challenge is considered complete on the death of the last pirate. I just figured the Portal meme was in effect...

I am a Wii player for my sins There is a cake and you MUST touch it in time or you will also lose the challenge

The challenge is not complete until you touch (eat?) said cake

This challenge is very easy for characters with ranged attacks (Boomer - Dynamite, Trigger Happy - Coin Toss, etc), but can be impossible for those without, eg Spyro family and Wrecking Ball. Gill Grunt can sometimes kill a pirate combining his jet pack and hose/harpoon, but it doesn't always work.

At least on the Wii version throwing bombs doesn't always work, often the bomb flies beyond the pirate or explodes on the platform and doesn't kill it. The first is more annoying as you have to wait a few seconds before the bomb respawns. Handy item to have for this challenge is Anvil Rail.


Some other funny and odd things about Heroic challenges:

• Challenges that require you to destroy or find a certain number of items often have more of that item on the stage. Examples include 6 Mabu on the "Jailbreak" stage but you need only rescue 5 (I think there is only 5 keys anyway), and there being extra Paintings to destroy on the Spyro challenge
  
• Cosmetic I know, but the use of the word "color" and not "colour" in the text during Slam-Bam's challenge
  
• I also think Terrafin can also burrow under the mines on any challenge that has them
  
• During "Isle of the Automatons" a bomb can be seen on top of the (it's either a brick or a turtle, I'm going with) brick near the starting point. If you ignore it and carry on with the stage, when you loop back to the start, the bomb sprite(?) is invisible, but make a path over to the bomb and when you get to the spot you will be carrying a proper bomb.
