Well I broke down and bought a 3DS to play skylanders. Is the 3ds game different? What are some other games or things I can do with this 3DS to get my moneys worth.

The 3DS is an entirely different game featuring different NPCs and a different boss. Similar to the console games, the Adventure packs also unlock new levels (a regular level and a arena match).

The 3DS has a lot of fun things going for it. I spend a lot of time playing Find Mii and the Puzzle Swap thing which you can do via StreetPass (walking by someone who also has a 3DS and "tagging" their system while in StreetPass mode. The system also gets a constant rotation of videos as well as the ability to send notes to other people you've registered as friends, being able to team up with them in certain games (like Mario Kart) and there's a few other fun things too (like the AR games, and the Pokedex 3DS app)

So could I add you as a friend or do I have to pass you on the street?

All you need is a Friend Code from another person, but I believe you might be able to auto-add someone in streetpass. I'd have to look and see though.

^No, there's no auto-adding. You either swap friend codes, or if you meet them in real-life, get them to add you using an option in the friends list menu. Skylanders has no Streetpass, SpotPass or online content though...

I know i hope skylanders giants will have more content with the 3ds version.

If you're looking for other 3DS games, Kid Icarus: Uprising is an absolute must own. The amount of content and unlockables is absolutely insane, and the game itself is amazing and handheld Game of the Year worthy. Don't worry about the complaints about the controls, as you can customize them down to the very button.

This version of the game is amazong. I wish the screen was a little bigger but Im really impressed.

Yeah the 3DS version is fantastic. It's a completely different game and you get a whole new Skylanders experience. Almost wish the console version had a lot of 3DS aspects in it (like jumping)

Tbh, I'm really hoping Giants is a mix of Skylanders on Console and Skylanders on 3DS.

I like being able to jump, sprint, and have more of a "platforming" aspect to the game.

I actually played the 3DS version first, and I felt going from that to my Xbox version that it was INCREDIBLY slower paced.

How many figures do you need to play the game completely on the 3ds version? Thinking of getting it for dark spyro and giving the extra characters to my sister since she loves this game a lot more than I do. I don't want to get into all the characters and everything.

Id at least get one of each element to get the full experience. Im just so happy I bought a 3ds a couole days ago bc this game is way better than the console game in most aspects.

Well, you'd probably should think of about one of each element. Kind of similar to the consoles, you have to use them to open special Challenges within the level. (Basically, you'll need to have the 2 elements that are in the level at the same time and complete the challenges (which is usually to just get to the other side..not that hard) at the same time in order to get a Radiance Crystal for it.

So you are saying in order to get the full game experience I must get at least what, 6 characyers to play with?

^No, you just need to get 5 additional characters, cause you start with Magic, Fire and Life

You can beat the game with just one character

But to get all the crystals you need one of each element.

Well, technically you can beat the game with just one character, but you do need to have two to scan in to play it.

Is it just me or does it seem like 3DS games are shorter than DS games? I beat the 3DS Skylanders in one day but regular DS games take me much longer to finish?

Because one game is totally indicative of an entire library.

I love the 3ds version i have been playing it again it's been like 3 months since i have. I know this is gonaa sound stupid but did the jump button change at all i swear i use to jump with another button LOL maybe it's just been a bit. Just wondering :-) Please don't make too much fun of me LOL

It's really down to the time the publishers are willing to devote to spending on building the game. The DS has been out for years now, so developers have had a long time to learn the ins and outs of the hardware, and how to make compelling, lengthy games for it, but if you look at a lot of the older games that came out when it was first released, they tended to be short, too - people rushed to get their games on the shelf.

The 3DS is now barely a year old, and while I've enjoyed the 3DS Skylanders game, it clearly didn't get the time or attention that the console versions did. I'm guessing Giants will be a more fleshed-out game, whe it hits on 3DS.

^ Hopefully the Gaints 3DS version will be similar to the 3DS version of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure but with more levels and replay value.

Dude seriously! 3DS Giants needs to be a separate game like 3DS Spyro's Adventure. It's a win-win situation, people will buy both and Nintendo shifts more copies of the 3DS.

That's what I'm saying, I want it to be like the 3DS version that we have now of Skylanders (how it's different from the console versions) but I want the new one to have more levels and replay value. I'm not saying that I want another game exactly the same but one that's similar to the layout and gameplay on the 3DS version for the Gaints 3DS game.

Whats up with the adventure pack pieces? I put hidden treasure on it an press R. Nothing happens but i lose 10 radiance????

I know it's a little bit like waking the dead but I now realize that there are some 3DS Skylander-Player around. I just want to point to this thread, which has a big potential I think...
