There are 2 different searches available to you here on dark spyro. There is the search at the top, and the search on the left. Each one does a different thing. I will explain how to put both to use to your advantage so that you dont clutter up the forums with multiple posts about the same thing. (BTW - this was the post I was making when I got suspended)

Search to the left

To the left you will see a list of forum tools. The forum list, search, forum rules, and help files. The search feature over there searches just the thread topics. You can use this search to find something specific that no doubt has been posted about before. For example, you want to know when a skylander is being released. There are multiple threads about this so please dont make a new one. Just click the search button and in the fillable, type in "release dates". A list of all the forum topics with "release dates" in the title will appear. Scroll through the list to find the one that will suit your needs.

Search to the top

This is a more indepth search. This will allow you to search withing posts on multiple threads. Say you are looking for specific information for eruptor's heroic challenge. Just use the search above and type in "eruptor heroic" and a list of threads will appear where people are discussing his heroic challenge.

Before posting a new thread about something that no doubt has been discussed in length about before, just use search. No one will flame you if you are honest and said you tried to find it with search but were unable. Also be smart enough to scroll down the first page of posts to make sure that what you want to talk about isnt listed right up front.

Hopefully Dark52 would sticky it so all this nonsense will end in most threads ends.

I had made comment in site suggestions about getting things stickeyed, lets see what happens.

That's helpful, thanks I wasn't aware of the search at the top (blind much? >.<) and I find the left search fairly useless... I actually tend to use google to search this forum.

I am bumping this as it hasnt been stickeyed yet and there are several posts that are repeats all within the first several posts. Peeps need to use search.

We should just keep this going to see how long we can keep this post on the front page! Even if we talk about the weather... it is snowing like crazy here - so the search for new characters will have to wait today! We got a couple of inches of snow on Sunday, and it's going to be in the low 60's today.

its 18 degrees right now. this is the coldest it is going to be for the next 2 days. The snow on the ground has been melting.

But what's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

One area of Queensland, Australia received flooding again but my area is sunny today - possible rain again tomorrow.

Even though it is now officially Autumn, temps are still in the realm of 30 degrees Celcius (around 86 Fahrenheit for the Philistines).

I'm a noob, but I'll help. It was 70*F about 30*C in Colorado today, possibility of snow for the next three days.

Sad thing is, even if it was stickied, people still wouldn't read it.

People will read what they want to read, and do what they want to do. We only frustrate ourselves by trying to change that.

If you want to search posts in this forum do what I do:

1. Go to Google
   
2. Type the following into the searchbox: site:forum.darkspyro.net
   
3. Type the search term you want to search, for example: Sonic Boom upgrade path
   
4. Click the search button (not strictly necessary but I include it anyway)
   

Searching: site:forum.darkspyro.net sonic boom upgrade path
Returns: This

You could just search: darkspyro sonic boom upgrade path
It works and is easier to remember but may return unwanted results.

That is the title of thread search found to the left under the forum tools section. The search I am refering to is the search bar within the logo/picture for dark spyro at the very top of the page.

So the top search doesn't even search the forums? Thats super awesome! How in the world are people supposed to utilize this place? No wonder everyone goes to google to try and find information on this message board. I hear your a coder, how about whipping something together? The posts are stored in a database yes? It should be a simple SQL Query yes? Maybe you can modify the forum search to choose between thread titles and thread posts?

Just a suggestion, Monsinour, but having made that discovery about the top search bar, you might want to edit your first post to reflect as such.

Hahahah, true enough ;-) I do, but then I try to utilise the search feature where I can!
