I see a few similarities...possible inspiration for sunburn?

Not a lot of ways you can cross a phoenix and a dragon. Once they decided what Sunburn was composed of, I'd say the result was inevitable. Nice coincidental similarity, though.

A lot of characters have similarities to others I've noticed.

Originally, I thought Drill Sergeant looked like Guntz from Shining Force, not so much anymore now I've seen a larger pic.

Hah. I'm glad someone caught the Aku Aku and Double Trouble. (ohhh snap. Get it? Double. Aku Aku's name is double? eh? EHHH!? )

It's hard designing something and not making them super different from something else. Although, perhaps we can infer a bit of background info on characters. Case in Point: Flameslinger.

Here's a little excerpt from Wikipedia on the blindfold that Lady Justice has:

Okay, I can't find a picture of them, but those Lava monsters in Magma Cone with the party favors near the end remind me of Eruptor.

Sunburn: Pretty much a phoenix, it's pretty normal it looks like another phoenix or red bird.
Slam Bam: Yeti with multiple arms, pretty much normal it looks like another yeti or another creature with multiple arms.
Lighting Rod: A dude in a cloud... Pokémon wasn't the first to think about that.
Drill Sergeant: A robot with drills, so it will look like anything with Drills obviously...
Sonic Boom: A griffin... so she looks like a... griffin, like any other griffins

And I can go on and on and on...
I'm hoping you are not serious guys? =/
