Suppose Skylanders is popular enough to warrant tournaments or it gets online play. Then of course, we have Skylanders who will fall easily and Skylanders who give easy victory (*cough*Drobot*cough*). Who would be the most used, most powerful, and the one that that sucks?

Also known as tiers. (TIRES DUN EXIST!!!!!!!!1111)

Most Used: Sonic Boom. Her upgraded Scream attack covers a lot of range, to be honest.
Most Powerful: Drobot with his lasers. Like all Tech Skylanders, his lasers can easily be spamed to death.
Least Powerful: I think Gill Grunt kind of fits this bill. Although I'm not sure since I haven't tried him out in PvP

So, let's begin!

People should check out the most recent article in http://skylandersarmory.blogspot.com/ as it reveals that even "underpowered" chars can defeat the "uber" ones.

Gill Grunt in PvP is damn awesome when you have the unlimited water thing. You can shoot water non-stop and the opponent can't even reach you.

I'm not sure there would be.... Drobot is awesome and all, but all it would take is an expert Wrecking Ball user to come and smash him to pieces.

Sonic Boom would probably be tied with Drobot and Spyro...in my opinion.

i think spyro, drobot, stealth elf, and sonic boom would be the most used. and then there would be a few flameslingers, zaps, and bash's and prism breaks.

What about Terrafin? Burrowing like that, he can easily dodge most attacks. And the heatseeking babies, broken.

Vhraina and I are currently doing extensive testing to potentially write some sort of FAQ on this. Take these with a grain of salt, as we've yet to conclusively finish testing, but ones to watch out for are:

(in no particular order)

Drobot
Terrafin
Stealth Elf
Bash
Hex
Ignitor (but only with his Flame Soul build)
Sonic Boom

As for who we've been thoroughly unimpressed with so far?

Trigger Happy (bullet build)
Chop Chop (any)

We're going to keep working on it, though. These rankings are only from preliminary testing.

Forgot about Terrafin. I guess his melee build doesn't do much, but I'm assuming you guys are talking about the burrower path. And Bash is good for users who are good at melee, I'm assuming.

@Tashiji: Trigger Happy's Pot build is good. It relies on a lot of luck though, if you want the bonus damage that comes from the upgraded Pot. I kind of forgot if it stunned or not. But Chop Chop's that bad? o.o

If Skylanders gets Wi-Fi, we can start up our own little competitive group smilie

I agree on Trigger Happy, he's not too shabby with the pot. Unfortunately he only has 400 hit points, which is a serious detriment.

As far as Chop Chop goes, I think he's pretty good with the Shield build. Either path is weak at dealing a lot of damage, but the shield absorbs damage and then suddenly unleashes it all in a 75 damage burst. The main thing with defensive Chop Chop is being patient.

I'm very unimpressed with Drill Sergeant. Just doesn't do anything well at all.

Yes, I totally agree about the pot build. It may not make Trigger Happy into a battling machine, but he'll definitely stretch his atrocious HP a little further.

As for Drill Sergeant, what build are you using on him? I've had pleasant results from the Dozer path, especially after completing his Heroic Challenges. Not a top-tier character, mind you, but strong enough middle-tier to demolish lower-end characters handily. The Drill Rocket build, however, is one of the worst on any character in the game, and must be avoided at all costs--battle or otherwise.

Nah, I'm more on utilizing a character's weak spots than being awesome.

What about Whirlwind? I have her and her rainbow attacks are pretty good, but I'm not so sure about that in a competitive spot.

Gun isn't as big of an improvement over his standard gun as his final coin attack is over his starting pot. It really is about building his weak spot, and making a more well-rounded character.

I think its better to upgrade guns because it makes his strongest move better like stealth elfs blades are beast when you finish upgrading them plus his guns are very fast almost as fast as machine gun

i really like my trigger happy's gun build i especially like the final upgrade for when he charges his gun it does quite a decent amount of damage but by the time i have built the charge up that high for him he is already weakened a bit from all the failed attempts...

DROBOT IS THE BEST SKYLANDER. ;________;

Anywho, I like Terrafin, especially since he can dodge stuff when he's underground or going underground.

Drobot may or may not be the best Skylander. He certainly can't tear through the main game like Stealth Elf or time trial like her, nor can he cheat trophies like Terrafin, though he remains strong in PVP battle... Really, I'd contend that there is a trifecta of "top" Skylanders, with each of the aforementioned three being the best at a large part of the game.

Trigger Happy's guns aren't worth it, imo. If we put this in PvP perspective, a character like Drobot can easily get an edge on Trigger since he still has to charge the guns to even deal a nice amount of damage. If one uses his pot build, he will be much more rounded. Of course, Trigger won't be top-notch, but at least it compensates his low Health. Or you can just spam Heroic Challenges for Health (if there even is one.)

So far, our 'top' Skylanders (which I'll dub ubers) are Stealth Elf, Drobot, and Terrafin. I would really appreciate if there's someone PvP-heavy to test out Sonic Boom and how she fares.

No, we're basing it on PvP performance. Stats help in the deciding factor, though.

Skill at PVP is also a factor. A newbie Drobot, while still powerful due to the "hold down the X button of doom" laser attack, isn't a surefire win over an experienced battler, even if that person is using an underpowered Skylander. We're just trying to decide, theoretically, on an even playing field with even skill, who is the top battler. Stats only influence the outcome if they greatly influence the way the character performs, such as how her incredible speed actually is a reason why Stealth Elf is a juggernaut.
