I've still yet to play Skylanders which I'm leaving for Christmas but I'm slowly beginning to accept the game for what it's about especially since I haven't bought a Spyro in seven years after A Hero's Tail.
Does anyone else get that initial feeling of hating Skylanders (or any game in general) but in time becomes simply skeptical (as in a being unsure as oppose hating) and finally willing to give the game a chance?

I did myself.
After DotD, I simply became frustrated with the Spyro franchise. I thought Skylanders would be decent but the whole scheme behind it made me hate it. I thought Spyro was pretty hopeless until I picked up Skylanders for the heck of it. Turned out I was wrong.

All it took was an LP, and I hated it.
It seemed very overcategorized and generic in parts, with little variety in the actual structure itself. For one, many character are very similar and eventually sort of drown each other out in a tumult of white noise. Several palette swaps exist, the moves are not of the greatest variance in structure, and the characters are at one point a pastel laden blur of weak, generic movesets. Another thing that miffed me was sound, animation, and graphics. The sound was a cacophonous assault of very uncreative and overgeneralized sounds that are not very dissimilar to the average stereotypical example of a platformer. The animation, as well, could have afforded more fine tuning, and seemed almost like it was going through the motions at points. I have an odd issue with the graphics: They are too good. They are too smooth and refined for a game such as this, which really have no need for high polygon counts. There is a certain charm that a slight roughness can give, and at one point, graphics seem more like airbrushed wet clay than high polygon models. In essence, it does no good service to this game, one aimed at a demographic in an age range in which no one gives a crap about graphics. I could list more things, but it's clear why I still hate it. It's style, execution, and form are just smoke and mirrors to hide what is, for me, a fairly vapid game with little replay value. |

I would totally disagree with the "replay value" comment - I completed this game with a friend initially, am currently doing my own playthrough, and get together with a friend every Friday to play some more.

I began to watch an LP of it a while back, and just lost interest really. Now that I've seen your points, I have to say that I agree with you. But I don't necessarily hate it, I'm still not sure. |

I'm really glad I didn't know how to make a topic until now because I did early on this year, I could've gotten myself banned from this site.

I totally aggree with that. I don't even think it's a Spyro game but a game with Spyro in it. When I saw the first pictures of the game especially of Spyros new design I didn't like it. But when I watched some gameplays and saw the other characters I changed my mind. Now I have both versions of the game and the webgame and I must admit I really like it. |

To me, it's almost like a parallel universe or a time after the original Spyro games where Spyro is inducted into the Skylanders and goes to live in Skylands.

Some other fans had joined here to only troll and flame about their hatred Skylanders too back in February, except they never came back on here and only posted hate topics to spread their hate around.
