I don't know whether I should play/buy the 3DS version or the Wii version, so I want to know which one is better.
And no, I haven't played Skylanders yet, that's why I'm asking.

I was in the same problem. Both got a 9/10 from Nintendo World Report, and I couldn't decide which I'd be better off with.
But the question I had to ask myself was: Am I really willing to spend almost double the price of a 3DS game for the 3DS version of Skylanders? It'd be cheaper to buy the game itself, and then the 3 toys separately. That's why I decided to get the console (360) version, and wait until the 3DS version drops in price. |

Wii feels like the main game as an RPG and better story. It also has a deeper character leveling system where you spend your gold to unlock skills.
3DS version is good but it is literally a platformer where you pretty much rush to finish levels to beat a timer at certain points. I would suggest wii version first, then later on get the 3DS version so you have the excuse "they can be used in 2 of my consoles AND online" when buying more figurines |

I like the Xbox one better too (just like the Wii version) Much more detailed and funnier moments!
The 3Ds is still a good game too, just lacks a little of the charm of it's bigger brothers. Am curious how many people out there have both versions??? I have both. Double Boom! haha

I was planning to get the 3DS one but I live by a rule: if there are console versions of a game in the DS/DSi/3DS, always play the console first. So yeah.
The Wii is arguably better, but if you like platforming, there's the 3DS version. It has the capacity for the same cutscenes in which Eon talks to you, and somewhat nice graphics, but a different story involving the Seekers and a new villain; Hektore.

^ No not at all, bought the 3DS because of Ocarina of Time, Resident Evil: Revelations, and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. Unfortunately Revelations and Snake Eater are taking way too long to come out. Hopefully they're using this time to improve the games.
The 3DS version of the game was the first Skylanders game I purchased. It's okay but I prefer the Wii version of the game.

It depends what you want from a game.
The Wii one is a Gauntlet-style dungeon crawler which can be played with two people. The 3DS one is a platformer game reminiscent of PSOne/N64-era platformer games which involves a lot of speedrunning to get to the goal. I'd say to watch videos of both online and see which style takes your fancy; I got both! |

Just an interesting one, the PS3 and 3DS comes with wireless POPs, has anyone tried using one of them on lets say on xbox. Hope this questions was not asked before.
I have the Xbox version and was wondering if we can use my friends PS3 POP on my Xbox. Im going to get the 3DS, after this post, sound like fun to have both.

"The only portal that works with the Xbox 360 game is the one that comes with the Xbox 360 game. It has a special security chip in it that none of the others have."
We just got off subject in another post and the admin posted this above quote! I really think they should have had one POP ( Portal ) that would have worked for all systems! Medivilan get both....it does add to the life and enjoyment of Skylanders! Plus the way I look at it, the more the game sells....the more chance of sequels and add-ons!!!!

can the PC one be read on the 360? or just its own? PC one is wired, and I assume the 360's is the same way?
