The thing is....Skylanders won't be beat by Infinity because skylanders has a storyline and everything while Infinity is just playing around with your favorite Disney characters. Besides, just because Infinity comes out does not mean that every sky lander fan will drop out and go buy it. Another thing, they're two different mechanics with the only thing making them similar is their use of toys as utilizing characters in a game.

I vote for Infinity! Though as soon as we get more information and gameplay from SF, my opinion will change.....

This post is quite contradictory in itself. Let me sort it out.

1) Disney Infinity is split into two parts. One part where any character from any world can go and mess around in. This world can be modified by the player Minecraft style and also has a few story quests to it also. The second part is a 7 hour game for each franchise represented in the game. Only characters from that franchise can be used in that world.

2) No, not every Skylander fan will drop Skylanders and go and buy Infinity. I don't believe anyone said that. There are people that will drop Skylanders, seeing it as a cash grab, and move on to Infinity while others will stick with Skylanders. People new to this style of video games could choose either, Skylanders for it's leading brand or Disney Infinity for it's well known characters, this is yet unknown.

3) You are correct in stating thatthe only thing they share is the toys to videogame mechanic. Nothing else is the same. Even the data that the models hold are different.


I don't see the Pokemon Rumble U figures making a big splash here in the West and especially here in Europe.

If they throw in:
Star Wars
Marvel
or
Kingdom Hearts
into Infinity, I might get it, otherwise Swap force all the way!
Also, if Pokemon had thought up the Skylanders genre first, they'd probably be the richest family-friendly more-or-less series of Nintendo, finally outdoing Mario!

The Disney characters are meant for young children to learn a lesson about love, caring, and sharing. They are not meant to fight. The only good fighters they will have are strong people like Sully and Wreck it Ralph. The others, seem more like they are meant for another reason. Plus, a lot of the movies are rated G, which means they will rarely get into conflict that has to do with offensive battle. Skylanders, on the other hand, are meant to fight and protect. The whole game is meant for fighting. That's their role.

Skylanders will win by a majority.

Yeah true.
But then, look at Kingdom Hearts. I guess that was developed by another studio, but still.
The Disney Princesses have cool light powers in it.
Anyway, guess you're right, without a lot of fighters it'll be pretty boring.
Infinity: Star Wars or Infinity: Marvel would probably outdo Skylanders though.

I have to say I mean I don't think Rumble U should really be in this. After all it's not like Infinity and Skylanders where the main characters are the toys. The toys for Pokemon Rumble U really are ment for like special bonus pokemon. Almost like the codes from the 1st game that unlocked those special pokemon.

Infinty feels to limited to me because the characters can't cross worlds I can see to complications with doing that bhowever they could have classified the figure by types like only human characters in pirates and only animals in like a dalmations level vehicles in car levels etc. Other wise I feel like the gameplay are limited in they storymode

I consider Skylanders a single game with a model that is totally immersive for all characters. I consider Infinity a platform for MULTIPLE games of limited participation / scope with a global sandbox. Obviously, Disney is playing to its key strength (it's sandbox).

I prefer originality in a growing franchise that has proven some level of originality and technical excellence than re-telling of age-old franchises. That said--if building and participating is your thing, Infinity is the obvious winner.

Swap force ROCKS!!!

As I already said in another thread, aside for the "Toys to Life" concept, they are two different games.
Swap Force has a story, Infinity hasn't.
Swap Force is a Dungeon Crawler/Platformer, Infinity is a SandBox Platformer.
Swap Force characters are original, new and have unique powers, Infinity characters are well known and have just one weapon.
Plus, Swap Force can also count on the already present 100+ characters roster.
They are both great games, but I'll go with Swap Force.
