GO SWAP FORCE !

I personally want swap force to win by a lot to knock this other game off the charts and then we don't have to worry but I have a very strong feeling kids are going to love the game just because it is Disney and they know all the characters. I also feel that they basically copied skylanders theme and now they are going to run away with it in upcoming years sadly.

The team responsible for the wii U port and the ds versions up to this point is handling swap force. They're also responsible for the previous Spyro trilogy as they had their hand in it and have been apart of the other skylander games to date. As in for gameplay it won't suck.


Swap force will be good as long as it's not a cash grab like giants has been. (Thank goodness for the sales stores have had.)

Infinity on the other hand is geared more to kids and something to get bored with in a short amount of time. From the trailers they seem to show off racing more in the toy box than the actual game play of the worlds and seems cars was more interesting to them. I would say look up the trailers and compare. Disney is probably only going to make some money on this but in the end Swap force will probably blow this out of the water but only by a small margin due to burn out by the masses. (3 years in a row is a bit much acti)

Personally I like swap force more because I like its prequels, but I think Infinity is going to be a bigger success for the one reason it has Disney in it and seems to also be vast in... characters and experiences and all.

I don't like Infinity because you use toys and it would be a great game without them and I know Skylanders uses toys but that is what the game is about Infinity is about creating not toys!

after watching loads of vids, think i am continuing with the skylanders brand...plus it would seem a waste to invest in all the previous characters to then change brands.

I think swap force should get more good vibes I mean what are you doing on a skylander forum if you are going to go AGAINST skylanders I mean come on and don't go calling a die hard fanboy I'm just saying, like, come on the Infinity gameplay vids look kinda boring while swap force has HD graphics,awesome characters and the amazing ability to mix n' match plus if you have played previous disney games they're not the best double plus if you don't get the new game what are you supposed to do with the old skylanders I mean seriously.

I don't like the Disney characters, but the game looks pretty okay. We'll have to wait and see, but I think I'll stick with the Skylanders.

While I support skylanders I doubt there will be a huge fan war over this. They have different elements so it's actually a bit unfair to compare them. In my opinion, I not much of a fan of Disney videos games because I find them boring.

The main way they’re different is that the Disney game has the arcade game AND a minecraft-ish building game, whereas Skylanders only has the arcade game. Infinity does seem to offer more value and longer lasting gameplay via the toybox, but until we can compare the arcade game segments we don’t know for sure.

The fact that a debate on a skylanders game vs a disney game on a SKYLANDERS FORUM is.... well...... Not biased at all! (Completely obvious sarcasm)

some new videos from family gamer showing 'toy box mode' the create mode in disneys infinity... after seeing these videos disneys infinity maybe will blow skylanders out of the water next xmas. replay value here is huge with create mode and online game play.

Well, it's not technically "replay" ... it's simply a huge time sink IF you love the social aspect and building...if not...then there's really nothing here. I'm guessing the adventure packs will clock in similar to 3-4 longer/complex chapters of Skylanders in terms of playing content--totally pulled that out of the air--but that's my guess.

Personally, that's where I will be doing the comparison, as toy box/Mindcrafter stuff won't be my thing (but I'm sure will be my kid's thing--they are constantly on Mindcraft or Roblox).

The fact they are focusing so much on this strength tells me the other side of the coin could be bland. And for a lot of players, that's the most important part. We'll see sure enough.

Well, I'd like to think we all have free will, but his point about the DLC choices they are making with the toys cannot be ignored. Why should someone who purchased Series 1 Eruptor have to buy Series 2 Eruptor in order to get his Heroics? Some folks love upgrading their skylanders to the max--can't do that with your Series 1 characters. Also, there are a number of Accolades and achievements that involve series 2 characters. In short--if you're a game completionist...the DLC model forces you to buy all of them. I know that's kinda the point of the entire game...so some of the disdain is because people are slowly realizing this is just DLC on steroids--at least you get something physical for your money---which is cool since everything entertainment wise you buy these days is virtual and stored in the cloud.

Disney is a platform of potential choices...choose from the menu. But they are all appetizers. Toy Box mode is (to me) a side diversion...my focus is on their game content. Even if you don't like all of them, more than likely you'll find something you like. But ask yourself why you have to buy for a full course when you're only getting an appetizer? Sounds like Toy Box mode has to be a strong consideration if you're not buying into multiple Disney franchises.

Skylanders is a full course feast with full interaction with all of their toys now in their third release. You either enjoy the full course feast or you starve...it is what it is...a single game.

No good or bad...just apples and oranges with comparative strengths/weaknesses.

The "hook" of Skylanders was the idea of bringing toys to life. The game itself was merely an excuse to execute the concept. Sure you could have SSA without actual toys - just pick a character from a menu and maybe unlock others through out the game and/or purchase others as DLC. But really, the magic here is that you get a cool toy and a game to use them with.

With Infinity, while the gameplay looks good and Toybox mode will be a huge hit, I'm just not seeing the appeal of the toys and how they connect to the game. Infinity (so far) looks like it would function just fine without the toys attached and in fact, because of the various IPs involved actually feels "incomplete" (why would I want Scully but not Mike?) The toy aspect to Infinity feels tacked on rather than something inherent in the game like Skylanders.

disney better not steal it, skylanders had the idea of toys first!
the only good thing about disney being more popular, is that skylanders wont be out of stock wherever i go!

I've yet to buy a S2 (though i'm thinking of getting the Dragonfire or finally getting an Undead), and I enjoyed giants.

If they put Marvel and Star Wars characters in Infinity (and with a different design style than everything else), I'd consider getting it. However, as Infinity likely won't have any alts/variants, less money to be made of scalping.

This game doesn't interest me, but Disney actually made some good songs for games. Here are a few songs from Disney's "Toontown Online".

From what I've seen, right now Disney Infinity seems to be more Pixar than actual Disney. I have nothing against Pixar, I'd just rather see more things like Peter Pan, Mickey Mouse, and Mulan than basicly have everything Pixar's done and 1-2 Disney things. ATM, the only series it includes that I can really get behind is Nightmare Before Christmas.

I've also read that it prevents characters from being in other movies (No Woody in Monster's Inc.) which I get, but at the same time, it's basicly telling you you can't play a certain level without a character. Skylanders may require you to have 1 character of each element to get all of the bonus junk like hats, but you are never required to have a certain character or type of character to complete the basic story.

First i dont think that infinity even has a basic story. Second i am pretty sure that the only playsets that are already in the game are the ones for the starter pack characters. Third, i think you buy extra playsets with some of that playsets characters included. i mean i am all for skylanders and i think it is stupid that you have to buy all of the playsets and that the characters dont unlock the playsets themselves. thats all i have to say

i like that SOMEONE realizes that mostly those movies that are from pixar is in infinity, i mean, wheres the lion king? SO parents wont be buying infinity because they grew up with the characters, because parents grew up with movies like the lion king, mulan, etc.

Disney Infinity didn't legit copy everything from the Skylander franchise like for example , first Disney Infinity has a "toy box" mode this is where you can bring together all your different Disney characters and play with them together. It enables you to go into an edit mode and create your own game ( Sort of like Minecraft ) ..... This is something that Skylanders doesn't have , another thing that skylanders doesn't have is a Multiplayer mode where you can play with your friends online . Therefore not everything has been copied from skylanders


- The way I see it is that if more games like skylanders will be released , it will be better for some skylander fans that love to collect every single character . That means that skylander figures won't be as hard to find , because some people will be interested with Infinity, some will interested in Pokémon Rumble U & MOre to come ; & Also SKYLANDERS of course.

Pokemon Rumble U is rather different. While it has some figures that you can use to add in special bonus Pokemon, you don't need them and can still play the game and collect every Pokemon without having to buy a single figure.

I don't have a Wii U and have no intention of buying one anytime soon, but I do still plan on buying a couple of the figures if they make it stateside (or I find them at a local Anime Convention) as I like the series and would love to have the Eevee and maybe a couple of others of the Toy Pokemon figures.

Actually they do work in Pokemon Rumble U. The figures have a chip that the gamepad can recognize and add it into the game. The Pokemon brought into the game by these figures are more powerful than Pokemon one can normally catch in the game and can be specially upgraded to become even stronger.

You don't need the figures to play the game or to get the Pokemon they provide. They jsut give you stronger versions.

I'll definatly be picking up an Eevee and a Litwick figure if I can, if anything to sit pretty on my desk.
