"After earning $200 million worldwide in two weeks (and with a third number-one weekend in its sights), another LEGO MOVIE is inevitable (despite the conclusion of the first film's narrative), and Warner Bros. has penciled in the film's release date. The next official LEGO MOVIE will be released on…May 26th, 2017."

The first movie was amazing, but I'm kind of afraid for a sequel. Not only is it apparently being written by different people (which could be good or bad) but I don't even know how they could branch off of it.

I dunno.

This post is all my thoughts about most movie sequels.

They either completely ruin the first movie's rep, or they make it ten times more popular.

I saw the first one today, and I am definitely looking forward to a sequel. Though I'm not entirely sure how they're going to pull it off.

I dunno, I heard a lot of mixed ratings from the movie. My younger friends think it was awesome, but the adults I know who watched it say it had almost no plot and they were bored sitting through it. I'll see it soon.

I thought it was totally amazing, but I do agree that there wasn't much of a plot at all.

Not really much more of a story to tell here. Not sure how they're gonna pull it off. I loved the first one, but I really don't know what to expect from the second.

The Problem: (End Spoilers about the Lego Movie, only click if you have watched!)
The plot twist at the end.
They ignore it or change it, then it kinda defeats the purpose.
They stick with it again, it is predictable and stale.

However, I would love an ending where Kids and Lego's fight together for IMAGINATION!!!
But against what, I dunno.

They had already signed on a few people to write a script for a sequel before the movie was even released. It was guaranteed to be a box office success so they decided to get started right away.

A sequel can work. Maybe after now having access to play with his father's legos, Finn is given a playdate with a kid at school who, unknown to his parents, bullies him at school and now wrecks his legos and other toys. This can immediately create conflict and an antagonist both for the lego world(s) and Finn's real world. And of course the end lesson could be about standing up for yourself or not being a bully.

It's kinda funny that this we're already calling a movie that came out earlier this month "The First One".

That's a good idea! I could've sworn I saw, though,
the movie ending with the Duplo blocks invading? Maybe a conflict with Finn's sister, perhaps!?

I think the Duplo invasion was to get one last laugh out of the audience. If they did do a sequel, I imagine they would take a different path.
