Voodood - a review.
Introduction - First I should admit I haven't played the game series from the beginning, so at first I didn't know their was such a difference as a "series", but as I kept reading around I quickly caught on to the concept and the fact that some characters didn't comeback for a new series, unfortunately. And that's how I first found voodood in a forum thread discussing skylanders who never made it pass series 1.
I agree that yes he's an orc with a big axe and that itself is very creativeless as a concept, but the twist comes with magic tripwires and a zipline axe. And I love that zipline axe, it brings me back to the old 8bit and 16bit Zelda when you fly across rooms with the hook and chain.
Gameplay and paths - usually when picking a path I'm looking for synergi between a path and soul gem skills and this is why I for a long time really considered going for the elementalist path, but in this case I went with maruader and I dare to say it's by far the better path. Theirs two reasons why elementalist can't keep up with maruader. The first reason is unreliable deflection from tripwires, elementalists long tripwires would be perfect for protection, BUT height differences in the environment and alot of "lob" type of range units makes tripwires unreliable even when it should block projectiles. Secondly, maruaders combo upgrade is the most important upgrade of the path. It gives voodood much needed versatility with aoe and range dmg. Also Id like to say that voodood aoe combo is one of the best combos ingame since the zipline whip knocks anything from chompies to trolls and ironclad sized mobs back and over the edge if played well.
Elementalist is not bad, but maruader has more options and can do it better. Except for the tripwires but you just can't trust them like you should.
Game wise voodood is solid, his number one weakness is control over a large area when theirs obstacles rendering zipline travel ineffective.
Voodood freeze screen - Atleast for the Wii console I've been a victim to this voodood bug several times in solo arena. When you put out tripwires and spinning (invulnerable) mobs or range mobs can break one of the sides of your tripwires. Graphics will then show a buggy half tripwire on the screen and during this glitchy graphic display the screen MAY freeze, not always but I've had a handful of freeze screens with voodood and it's always been with a broken tripwire.
So ya I'm sad voodood was canceled but atleast theirs still series 1 that can be found in boxes and used conditions. I'm still considering buying a second one for elementalist path.
Cheers bloody
