So, yesterday I added friends from Dark Spyro to my PS3 list, and today I could compare scores etc. Earlier today everything was peachy.
Now, when I load the game, I can't even get past the Activision spinning logo. When I disable my Internet, I can get to the load screen.
Is anyone having the same problem right now? I'm wondering.
Visiting Swap Force support page, it says that PSN is offline. Is the game this obtuse that it can't detect a simple error condition and move on?

Just checked PS forums and this was posted:
Hello PlayStation Community, We have noticed various reports of connection issues with PSN including, but not limited to friends lists, game download, purchase, and login issues. We are aware of the issues and we appreciate your patience while we investigate. Thanks, U--J This game is horrible when trying to play on the PS3. Almost all the other games don't have this problem when the network is down or having maintenance . |

This issue also was present when the game first came out. Lots of people getting the game, PSN issue somewhere, result hanging atthe activision logo. So your solution was right to disable internet or log off PSN.

Yep, that's what I did.
Just in case anyone's wondering, I called support. They recommended : 1. I delete the local install file (that's been working great for last 3 weeks) 2. Delete PS3 browser cookie, cache, history (what?) 3. Make sure I start the game with no figure on the portal. 4. Logout of PSN, start game, Login of PSN (didn't work) None of these look like legitimate steps, but sharing the info. It started working about an hour in. Feedback to Activision: Plan for the outages so the game doesn't hang. Happy Path isn't always available.
