We just picked up Swap Force for our 7 year old... ok, and I might be looking forward to trying it out myself...
I was wondering if it would be worth it to pick up the older versions as well? Is there a lot of unique game play to be gained by having them? or would you suggest just going with Swap Force?
If it matters, we have it for the 360.
If this question has been asked before, I apologize.
Thanks in advance.

Well,if you like a character you see, you can buy it. Some are rare, since there old. Try not to get duplicates to waste money.Older characters like boomer and voodood are rare,as well as they don't have another version. You should pick theese up because no reposed figure:

Thank you for your reply.
We've picked up a couple of the older characters already (cheaper, which is nice). Other than older characters, would you recommend picking up the actual versions (Giants and Sypro)? Or is it not worth the cost at this point? Also, I know that older characters are playable, would it be safe to assume that the Adventure sets (such as Empire of Ice) are not? |

i wouldnt buy the whole starter pack since the swap force portal works with all the games if you really want the games you can find just the game itself for spyro and giants pretty cheap on ebay, craigslist or your local gamestop may have a copy check those first.

Buying the older games starter packs should be pretty cheap at this point. I'm sure you'll enjoy them too, but you'll have to be careful to organize your toys because swap force characters dont work in giants and the giants dont work in the original spyros adventure game. I'm sure that could be confusing.

The older games are fun, but they have a lot less features.

in regards to your question though, the adventure packs will work in Spyro and Giants. Not in Swap Force. Swap Force has its own adventure packs

Thank you all for your replies... very helpful.
I found Giants and Spyro for a decent price (30 each). I'll check the other places to see what I can find the disks for... though since I am getting some of the characters with it this doesn't seem to be too bad of a price. Again, thanks for the replies. |

From my recent experience, $30 is a good price point to pick up Giants and Spyro, especially if that is buying them new.

If you can pick them up on the cheap I'd completely recommend it. Spyro's Adventure was a blast and needs to be played. Giants was fun as well but not as memorable. Plus all the old Skylanders are future forward. Kaos is his best in SSA and also the best end boss fight.

Yeah, I was able to find both new (Giants was fairly easy, Spyro was not). I had been debating between keeping and returning them. From the sounds of it keeping them and playing them is the way to go. I was hoping that would be the case.
Would you suggest starting with Spyro and working our way to Swap Force or does that not really matter (other than making sure to use the correct figures per game). |

There is actual plot, which connects the stories, so if you want to experience the world and learn about things gradually, I'd recommend to start from Spyro Adventures, then go to Giants and end with Swap Force.
It can be also important, because gameplay in the first two versions is slightly different than in Swap Force (mostly controls, they've added jumping feature for Skylanders in Swap Force etc.) and it can be confusing to switch between them. |

If you are an eBay person, I would check there. You can often find figures and the games for cheap. In fact, I just bought Spyro's Adventure on PC for $10 dollars on eBay. You can find great deals if you keep checking it often.
Good luck and happy Landering.
