Okay...any tips from you successful husbands or you interested wives...
I am personally very excited about getting/playing Swap Force and my kids are excited as well (having watched a bunch of PVP videos) [for some reason, my daughter is completely in love with Lava Barf Eruptor]
At this point, though, I don't think my wife has an iota of interest in the game. Would be a) fun if she could get into it and play along some and b) keep her from being so annoyed whenever the game gets turned on.
Any ideas for how to woo her to the Swap Side?

Yeah, I tried getting my wife to play. She went through a few levels of Spyro's Adventure, but she just wouldn't get hooked. She thinks a few of the characters are cute, but not enough to have any motivation to play. Oh well, I still can't complain. She's still very supportive of my hobbies and all of the money I put into them, even if she doesn't see the appeal herself. lol.

I got my wife to bite...with Giants. She doesn't like Swap Force.
Giants looks better than Spyros, feels more lively, and is easier that Spyros, and the pacing is better than Swapforce. Even with that, the trick for me...I "don't really care who she plays as" (not true, but ya know), I sort of set a goal (in Giants) of 2 stars with only the speed not being done, and it just went from there. My two year old changes are characters 'for us' (even when we don't want to change), he comes up with Swap combinations that we use, and its just a family affair now. - Unreall |

My wife is FAR from a gamer of any sort. She thought the figures were cute though, and has been trying to find a way to play with me with video games. If she doesnt have any desire what so ever to play the games I wouldnt push it to hard. If she finds the game "annoying" its going to be a bit of an uphill battle. What part of the game comes across as the annoyance? Is it just Skylanders or ANY video game? That's probably the best place to start.

If you and/or the kids could get her to try it, maybe she'd get to like it. Maybe if she picked out her own character at the store? But if she's not a gamer, I wouldn't try the arenas. Try replaying the first stage. It introduces the characters and the story and it's easy enough so you can get a handle on the controls without getting frustrated by dying easily. There's a lot of little humorous things in the game that should amuse adults if they give it a chance. My husband likes the game and he'll watch me play sometimes (he thinks Patrick Wharburton is hilarious, so he loves Flynn), but he's never really gotten into anything but Mario Kart.
My sister also plays it with her family and loves it. I think it has pretty wide appeal unless you just really aren't a gamer. |

She's a little bit of a gamer.
We have played all the way through LEGO Harry Potter together -- so she really enjoys the LEGO games. I let her focus on the mission at hand, which allows me to focus on destroying everything to earn more coins. She also likes to play games like Mario Party and Toy Story Mania as a family. She actually really likes Disney Infinity so far, specifically in regards to the play sets. She started out with the Lone Ranger play set and had a blast completing it and has moved on to the Pirates play set which she seems to really be enjoying.

Let your kids get her to play and try it. Then maybe while out she will want a figure. It's sort of how my wife started. She then wanted chill as she was a girl and sprocket for the same. Fast forward to present and she has all of SSA and giants and most of Swap but hasnt played in months, thou she loves collecting them and loved going to NYC for Ninijni so ya.
She plays DI somewhat, thou lately she is working too so time is less. |

My wife plays it if she has too, but she's really not a gamer. Best bet is have the kids beg her to play a little. Perhaps some guilt. Or next time she's doing something she doesn't like, chores, laundry, mowing the lawn, whatever, volunteer to do that task for her so she can play.

My son got my wife to play a few times. The last time they played she went through all of the Giants figures on a single level of Swap Force. When they stopped playing my son came over to tell me "Momma's not very good at skylanders, maybe she shouldn't play anymore." Now anytime she asks to play with him he says he's too tired to play.

Hmm, i played Little Big Planet 1 and 2 whit my girlfriend and she loved them, same goes for the Mario games. So when i bought my Xbox One i got Skylanders and she just loved playing it, it's great fun to play everything co-op. Still, she has no favorite figure or a figure of her own.

My wife entertains me with all the store trips and searching...but she won't play. My son hates playing with me, because I'm a needs to explore everywhere and get everything player and he is a keep moving and who cares about the rest type of gamer. The only games that we all have liked playing together are wii sports, carnival games, fusion frenzy and mario kart.

I have no wife I am 13.
However I do have some brothers and a sister. They all bully me for liking it and call the game mean names. My mum's boyfriend likes it though and my 20 year old brother. My mum doesn't mind it.

I can't get my wife interested. She likes that the kids like it, and has enjoyed it when she did play it - she loves fantasy games. But, it has to hit her *just* right for her to really dig into it. She likes games with questing, games she can grind things out and isn't fond of button mashing or jumping puzzle games. When she plays a game with jumping puzzles or things like that, she usually has me do that part for her. If it happens too often, she stops playing.
She also likes games she can pick up and play in brief spurts, that she can get up and come back to later. Or games with a social online aspect, although that does annoy her when people act out. Getting her to sit down in the room for a long period and play is hard to do. |

Have you tried Infinity with your son yet? I love the fact that one person can go off hunting for all the goodies, while another player can stay focused on the storyline/missions since it is split-screen play.

My husband and I started gaming together on Lego. I was never much of a gamer because I am awful and die really fast. That wasn't an issue with Lego as your character keeps coming back. Once I was hooked on lego (the familiar story lines helped). We started looking for new games to try. I liked Skylanders because the story line was interesting and the characters provided a lot of variety (especially for me since I still die a lot). Then it became sort of our thing. We enjoy the collecting and playing aspects and even started buying the games to play again on other platforms. No else in our extended family "gets" our fascination though, so it's definitely not for everyone. I would try the angle of something fun we can do as a family and maybe try from the beginning so she can get in on the story lines. If your playing on a system with trophies or achievements those might grab her attention too. It's harder for me to get interested if we don't start a game together. Good luck!

I wish I had some tips. However, I don't think it took much effort for me to successfully win my wife to the Skylanders game. When I bought the game, she was instantly amazed at the cuteness of some of the figures. She just thought Stealth Elf was the bomb. After I got home, I played it for a while. She would come into the living room and watch for random periods of time making comments like, "That's cool." I got her into playing it by telling her that she could play with Stealth Elf and that could just be her figure. What really won her over was the PvP aspect of Skylanders. My wife is very competitive and especially enjoys beating me at things. I definitely think she enjoys the PvP side of Skylanders better than the story. I on the other hand, love all things Skylanders. But now I've sold my PS3 along with my games and am waiting to get Skylanders for PS4 this Christmas. Since then she has mentioned her excitement about finally getting to play it again. And of course, she always mentions the multiple times that she has slayed me with Stealth Elf...

My wife just told me today that she bought Disney Infinity so that she has something to play with my son. Apparently she is tired of the dirty looks she gets from my son when they play.

Guess I was over-concerned. Going to give her Jolly Bumble Blast for Christmas.
