So, oddly enough, I took a Series 1 Skylander and used it in game and it continued to save gold beyond the 65k limit in the first two games. Has anyone figured out what the "new" limit is?

Several of my skylanders reached a gold limit of 65535. Not sure why that number? I originally thought the limit would be 99999.

Ahh...so unlike the first two games where they cut it of at 65000 Swap Force now allows you that extra 535?

I wonder if it is the lucky number of a Activision, Vicarious Visions or Toys For Bob staff member. It just seems like an odd number to use as the limit.

65535 is the maximum number that can be recorded in 16 bits... 2 to the power of 16 minus 1

Yep. I find it odd that they couldn't enforce the 65000 number used in previous games, as to non technical folks the number does seem arbitrary.

It's pretty much required if you happen to want to get Trigger Happy's Quest done.

It is also possible to get that high with green base characters that have seen use in all 3 games. Such as mine that is how I know it goes that high.

All of my skylanders have the max gold to them, using cheats from previous games. I guess Activision wised up and wanted you to pay for the ability to max your gold without endless playing. I might just resort to figure hacking this time.

My S1 Trigger Happy hit it prior to Swap Force. But it took effort. In Swap Force it can be done (a la Sky Diamond) in a matter of minutes. /sigh

Any skylander that can get into Giants I can basically max it out in ~15 minutes--most of the time is in the quit/reloading. There's a similar problem here in that you have to load a level, quit and get back to the training dummies.

I have heard there was some kind of uber-money trick in Giants, but I could never figure it out (have the Wii version). It would still be nice to know, even though the Sky Diamond/target dummy combo has made it obselete.

Not necessarily obsolete. I still plan on taking anyone that can visit the first two games and do all of their heroics (yeah I'm cruisin for a bruisin) so I'm just already used to it. There's threads in the Giants section on it and the video is on youtube. I'll definitely do the dummies for the s1 blue guys (duh, since that's my only option)

True. I just meant that it seems like it would be faster to just get them cash in Swap Force, then take them back into SSA and SSG. But yeah, I'm grinding heroics on my blue-based backward compatible Skylanders also. Still think they could have handled that aspect a bit better.

There's some ways to get a lot of gold fast. In the first game I confirm it wasn't so easy but starting with Giants I can say that I maxed out a few of my Skylanders, here's how in Giants... With one of the chapters (Chapter 9) and with the elementary doors on the boat (because the gold keep coming back after you left the room, just get back in the room and redo it again but it can be a little long and you need the 8 elements), also by boosting the gold earning with the Luck-O-Tron wheels which can give even more gold more easily seeing as it can be doubled. While in Swap Force, the island that can be accessed with a rainbow, a good trick, surely better and faster than this one, but I haven't really compared yet. Also, yeah, 65535, I can confirm it too because my Trigger Happy and my Pop Fizz both have this number of gold now instead of 65000 in Giants and it can't go higher now. |

That way is very laborious.
The easiest way to get 8k-14k of gold on each run is to simply beat the game and copy the save file....go to the top of the ship...load up on gold...quit immediately...rinse and repeat. There is a sapphire there that you should pick up before the last chapter that should be picked up. If you leave the area the gold won't return and you'll have to restore the save file.

Yeah, I heard about this one too, but I sort of already went further than that, before even hearing about this, so it was kind of late to learn about it unless I restart a whole game... but my way can still be a little fast (between 1,500~2,500 gold each attempt) and I was able to maximise most of my favorites, so there's that.

Actually, it's worth having to play the entire game (speed runs) over in my opinion to have this option. Just make sure you save a copy of the save file before you visit the top.

The fastest way to get gold and level up your characters at the same time is in the player vs. player battle arenas. Also, some of my figures have over 80,000 gold. I will have to check which ones later on. Maybe some characters have the 65,535 limit, while others can go higher.

None of the characters can have over 65535 gold in Giants/Spyro. If you're referring to Swap Force, I'd love some screen shots of this. The storage of the gold is in a 16 bit field so I'm curious.

Okay, so I checked my son's figures. They all had a max of $65,535. While playing in the arena, figures can accrue amounts much greater than that. However, once the game is turned off or you take the figure off of the portal, the figure will lose all gold above $65,535. I am sorry for the earlier misinformation. The only way this is useful is if you spend the gold before doing either of the aforementioned actions.

In Spyros Adventure if you have the Pirate Seas treasure chest getting heaps of gold quick is easy enough. Go to the core of light in between chapters and put the treasure chest on. It can appear in a few different places the best is when it is near Cali. Open the chest and pick up the treasure then go talk to Persephone (spelling). Cut her short once you step away from her the chest is full again. Run over and empty it and just keep repeating.
