I am going back and beating the game on Nightmare and I have a lot more figures since my Normal playthrough. I am having a hard time determining if I have done swap zone challenges and elemental gates before, so I wind up doing them again and only getting a diamond. Is there an indicator I am missing that lets you know if you have already collected the hat/legendary item/winged sapphire?

Well, first of all, check to see if you have the third star, which is collection. If you don't have it, it either means you forgot one spot, or you aren't able to access the spot. Also, if the Swap Zone is inside your Swap Zone Challenges list, then you don't have to do it. For Elemental Gates, have to leave you off there.

Only way i can think that you would know if you have opened a elemental gate is to check the Levels

completion list, if it says you have visited all areas then you have opened all the gates... However

even if you get through the game you dont get anywhere near enough gates for the "opening

elemental gates" and "opening dual gates" challenge. So you need to be at least opening them

(dont actually have to go in and do anything), until you complete this.

you can always write it down on a piece of paper, thats what i did.

The Swap Zone areas need to be all completed on Nightmare mode for an award. I have asked many times how it is known but I might have figured it out now.
