Found this on another website this morning.

Skylanders and Infinity Starter Packs – WAS: $74.96, NEW PRICE: $37

Whole article is below. I guess we have to see if they are doing lower prices on the figures.

I'm guessing prices are going to get permanently lower based on sales to date. Stock's probably not moving fast enough for Activision.

Can you provide me with info regarding slow Swap Force sales? I have seen a couple of other posts from people regarding weak sales but the last thing that I thought I had read stated that their first week sale were great. Thanks for the help.

I remember that someone posted an article that sales are going disappointingly slow this time around.

Or, you know, it's crazy sale time of year. Giants was available for that kind of price last year too. They aren't going to permanently slash prices that much barely a month after release. The game is still in the top 10 in the US and UK. I will point out that this is not the case for Disney Infinity and apparently not the case for Pokemon in the the UK. Are their prices going to be permanently slashed in half? If you only look at the games rated for kids Swap Force is 2nd only to Pokemon in the US. Holiday sales like this were being predicted before the game was even released. There's been a little more knee-jerk negativity on here lately than is really warranted or agreeable. It's just a holiday sale, there's no need for forebodings.

As Wombatandchips said, Walmart, I think Target (and maybe others) had the Giants starter sets on sale Black Friday weekend for something like $35-$40 (I forget exactly) and maybe even another add cycle or two around the holidays.

Swap Force sales will jump come Black Friday. Lots of parents refuse to consider getting gifts until then. What will be different, in my opinion, is that many people will refuse to go "all in" again. If you aren't trying to collect them all, there is no reason to be buying it now, there will be figures available and at better sale prices.

I think Skylanders has finally tapped out the common fans on the "collect 'em all". It will still be popular, but not to the degree of previous years with people stalking new waves. The most recent Legendary figures are a prime example, all of them still litter shelves in my area in large numbers (and growing). Me and GhostRoaster were literally the only people there at opening to get them. And it isn't like their release was a surprise, they advertised the date and time a few weeks ahead, and it was on a Sunday - so no one had to take off work.

I think the competition, the general fatigue on trying to find new figures, kids' naturally short attention span and the realization that not only do you have a whole new 56 characters to collect, but also a track record of many variants. Parents start to realize that their child wants all of the figures, but ends up only playing a small subset of them. I don't think the franchise is in trouble, just a calming down of the craziness. I think it is GOOD for the long term health of the franchise - you don't want people burned out so badly that they stop playing/buying it altogether. And as a side-effect, hopefully it will put a damper in the scalping - I don't think it is a bad thing people do that over rare chases (that's a tip of the hat to the serious collectors), I just abhor the scalping/hoarding of regular figures when they first come out. The less people that "gotta have them right NOW", the more scalpers move on to the next thing.

With the $10 off coupon from Frito Lays it will come out to $27. I'll be getting my boys the 3DS Starter. They don't have Free Ranger or Rattle Shake yet. So that right there will be worth the $27. The Volcanic Eruptor will be the icing on the cake. Oh and the fact that we are getting them each a 2DS for Christmas. I might get two (since I got two $10 off coupons) and just sell the extra figures.

That way I can get them both each a copy of the actual game

I can confirm that the starter sets are on sale NOW at Wal Mart. I saw them this morning.

I can CONFIRM if you didn't get your starter pack last night, hang it up. I checked three and did find 3DS/XBONE/PS4/Wii U, but no Wii/PS3/XBOX Starters. The managers said that some bought 2 or 3 of the same system, and that it would take a week to refill. Just in time for the sale to be over... Weeeeee....

In one of my Walmarts there was a display full of Wii Starters and even that crappy version was gone. I'm actually a bit surprised. This was as of 10am THE MORNING of the sale. Pffft. I guess I can go retro with the 2600 or Genesis this year smilie

I saw PS3 ones at my Walmart this morning. They also had obviously just gotten in a shipment of the Enchanted Hoot Loops because there was a big display of them that wasn't there yesterday. Not on sale, but if you were looking for that might be worth checking.

I picked up the 3DS starter and they did take the Frito Lay coupon, so yay for that.

Pokemon X and Y are different in that it's a one time investment. You don't pay for each pokemon you catch.

No, it is not a permanent price drop, it will be right back up to $74.99 after Black Friday with the occasional sale. I think slow sales are just indicative of the economy and having a bit of competition right now. If someone hadn't bought the game yet, they were waiting for the holiday sale season, many parent won't get any presents until then because kids change their mind so quickly. It'll pick up quite nicely once the shopping season begins, and this sale will help. It may not be up to previous year levels (or whatever growth they added on that), but it is still popular.

I think the biggest hit this year will be the reposes, and that is indicated by the three packs seeming to linger and slow on stocking Wave 2. Parents are wising u[p and fans are leary towards fourth, fifth or more versions of the same functional character. It wouldn't surprise me if they make less reposes (maybe only 8, for the "headliner" of an element) next time. Spyro is awesome, but there are now six common variations of him, plus a chase.

I work at at Wal-Mart, their pre-Black Friday sale is to match other companies Black Friday ads to draw in those businesses costumers. Last night we had ran out of stock on all swap force starter packs of Xbox 360 and PS3, a few hours after the sale. So if sales are down for swap force so what, I know many people and I've talked to many customers who wait for sales like these to pick them up. Not saying that sales are down for swap force or up. But remember it's the holiday season, people are waiting for these mega sales to get products like swap force.

I just picked up the 3ds and Wii u versions at my wal-mart. They were the last ones. they did use the frito lay coupon so it was $27 a peice. Best deal for a game in a long time. I couldn't tell you how long it has been since I have payed under $30 for a new game.

For those who don't see it on the other Wal Mart post (toys section), Target matched their $37 online price plus they honored their in store sale by letting me get a free figure as well. So with the sidekicks coupon, I got a new 360 copy of the game, as well as a free $9.99 character for $27.

Reposes are stinking things up...Knockout Terrafin is a total bust with all the different packages he's included in...and I think he's being released in a triple pack in a future wave. I know the term "rare" is thrown around quite a bit for figures...a proper use of the term: it's rare that you'd find a Skylanders fan who has played all 3 games and does not have at least one version of Terrafin in their collection. Now let's take a count - who doesn't have a Terrafin already?
