The 3ds version is a completely different game and it is just as fun as the original. I have all 3 3ds games and they were all worth it.

I got two boys and between the two of them they have all the figures from the 1st two games and most from the 3rd.

This Christmas we are planning on getting them each a 2DS so top of my list of games are the ones in the Skylander series. Plan on getting Spyro's Adventure and Giants at TRU on Black Friday for $10 each and Swap Force for $20 ($29-$10 off Frito Lay coupon) at Walmart.

My question is this......is there co-op with any of the Skylander games on 3DS? Is it worth getting two copies of each so they can play together?

no co-op, the 3ds titles are single player only

I know the swap force goes on sale at Black Friday, actually 6 pm or 8 pm Thanksgiving can't remember which. Also I believe 2ds might go on sale.

So no playing vs. or co-op connecting to each other via wi-fi? That's ok. I still think they'll enjoy it.

Hoping to get them on Black Friday sale at Walmart but I know it will be tough.

I own one for Wii U and 3DS, I haven't really played with the 3DS version but I bought it knowing that it would be a completely DIFFERENT STORY from the main consoles. It's situated in Flynn's hometown called Boomtown where the evil Count Moneybone kidnaps Cali.

So yeah I bought it for the different storyline > >'
