This really peeves me off sometimes that Australian and not to mention all the other countries out there can't get figures at the same time. All the unboxing videos on youtube are like teasers for us!

It is because Activision is a US company... There main concern is the US market, all other other markets are secondary to them.

When Disney Infiniy launched in Asia it was same day in US. We were even ahead by a few hours bec of time differences. Cant fanthom why they cant do that wih skylanders.

Rather than have limited numbers of each wave worldwide, they focus on certain areas at a time.
I don't agree with it, per se, but I can see the rationale behind it.

Activision wants money and quick so they go with US first.

I agree with skylandercitizen. DI release dates are uniform across the US and CAN. Isn't Disney also a US Based corporation?
If it was strictly about the money thing, you would think to make more money by releasing the waves uniform in multiple countries right? It just makes sense |

Not every state in the U.S gets the waves quickly. My state still has Wave 1(I'm glad because I still have a chance to get Roller Brawl).

I don't think Disney Infinity is even out yet in Japan. I think it launches later this month. I could be wrong, but that's what I found when I did some searches.
Whatever the reason the waves are out at different times, it is probably to do with logistics and not just some whim of Activision's. There are lots of possible reasons. It takes time to make the toys, maybe instead of waiting till enough are ready for the whole planet they put them out by region as they are ready. Is the packaging different in other regions? I think it must be; there are only two languages on the ones I get and other places may have different rules about what the package must say about safety, contents, etc. There are different regulations for all sorts of things in other places, there are shipping issues, maybe customs, and lord knows what else. I don't really know the reasons, they are probably manifold. This is all speculation, but my point is that there are a lot of logistics about which we all know little. A simultaneous release everywhere is probably a difficult thing to do, likely there is not enough benefit to a simultaneous release to make it worth the trouble it would to take to accomplish it. With all these toys it is that much more complicated to arrange than a game that is just a disc. |

I can appreciate and understand your frustration...in my mind they also have to stage shipments as manufacturing for the entire world at one time probably can't be achieved. I hope they can make shipments closer together to reduce contention in other countries in the future.

Basic Marketing. As stated above, Activision is a US Based Company, and their main market is the US. They see if the US release is a flop or not, and builds on their next release, be it Australia, Europe or Asia. Also, their products sell well in the US, so it makes sense to do a quick cash-grab. I don't agree with it but hey...

A lot of other countries also have higher tariffs and more regulations for importing that the U.S. Before you blame Activision, maybe check and see if your country's laws are causing the problem.

Just a quick note: It normally boils down to the choices of the local distributors in each country. For example, the New Zealand distributors might have wave 2, but hold on to it until there is space on the shelves.
