Now that the game is out and everyone had their chances with the figures, here comes a question I've been wanting to ask, and has been worrying me a lot... Considering my room is where I keep my 'landers, as well as most of my electronic stuff, Computer, External Drive, Consoles, Cellphone, etc... From people who have the Swaplanders, do they mess up any electronics at all? Or is it ok to keep them on the same room? I heard they had pretty strong magnets, so it really worries me if they are well-isolated to protect any computer, console or anything considerably close to them.

I don't think so.

I would be very impressed if you managed to accidentally damage ANYTHING with them.
I would actually be impressed if you managed to damage anything on purpose with them!

Magnets, they are not as bad as a lot of people would have you think.

Same room? Wow, how strong do you think they are? Unless you have an MRI scanner around you don't know what a strong magnet is smilie
You could stick the Skylanders ONTO your hard disk inside the PC and it wouldn't do anything (Don't do it, just in case smilie ).

They are quite safe.

Well, all except that Rattle Shake. He looks a bit shifty to me, I'd keep an eye on that one if I were you.

As long as you don't take it apart and put it in your ears, it's safe.

Well, at least Activision had some common sense to write warnings about magnets. It states on all Swap Force Skylanders packs that ingesting magnets is very deadly.

The magnets are strong enough to tamper with a CRT, but you would have to deliberately hold it in position to cause some permanant damage (even then with modern CRTs that's pretty near impossible).

I supposed if you deliberately got them close enough to the magnetic portion of a floppy disk or cassette tape you could wipe what's there, but given general computer/stereo use these days usually doesn't involve either of these things, there's hardly anything to worry about.

Ingesting a single magnet is pretty harmless. I should imagine the SF magnets are safe enough even if you swallow them.
The problem came from kids eating several POWERFUL magnets over a period of time. They would be in different parts of the gut and "stick" together. They would then slowly perforate the gut with constant pressure.
I don't think SF magnets are strong enough. You would have to pry them out of the figure and also be so damn stupid as to eat them.

Also, I tried holding a magnet against a floppy disk. It did nothing. Disk still worked.

Nobody has a CRT These days.
