On Nightmare and Hard Mode XP is increased so use that mode.

Survival is good for it but that is the only good place I know.

Also on Sunday you get double XP and on Tuesday it is 10% extra XP.

Finding Survival and Team survival seem to work, at least early on.

a fast way I have found is buying the 3ds version you can level up faster on the 3ds then the console versions plus it's an entirely different game which I love of course if you don't have a 3ds it won't help much :-)

In Survival Mode, choose Angry Angry Plants. During the first stage, do not destroy the Chompy Pods. Keep them alive long enough for the Chompies to keep coming. I did that a few times and it works. No matter how many Chompies are being produced by the Pods, the victory points will continue to sprout after killing the Chompies. I kept doing that I reached level 20. Whenever the Pods have given up producing more Chompies, either move on or restart the whole arena battle until so.

How long does that typically take?

I agree with joseph235.... the 3DS verions's the easiest. In fact, I use Giants for the first 15 levels... (use the final boss.) then the Swap force final boss for the rest. There's even a hat that gives %15 exp.... so i've been using it. (I think it's something called Boater something.. or something boater.)

You could also try doing PvP battles. Those gave pretty good Exp. and you could do 2 at once.

Doing the final battle... (as long as you don't get KO'd) I can get it from 15 to 20 in about 5 or less times. (i've been doing hard mode and have that hat, and been doing the element of the day.)

There's a hat that boosts gained experience???!!! Which system are you using? I have almost all the hats on the Wii version, and none of them provide an experience boost.

I use the PVP thing, using a second WII remote with no-one-else doing a thing, just kill the foe, and go get sume money, and XP
the foe will get some of both too!

Bonsai Bay Time Challenge/Shimmering Shard Shire Time Challenge on the 3DS is the method I use for levelling if I get tired of the console version. I'm not really a fan of the 3DS game but it can really help to break up the monotony of the levelling on the console game. It makes it ridiculously easy to the point that even the first level gives you quite a bit of EXP. they need to use that as a selling point smilie

Console version: play arena challenges and bonus missions. Sometimes I like going to an actual level.

@JCat didn't know about that hat, I'll need to use that now. smilie

Whichever area has the most enemies with whatever element is shown in the screen, select that certain Skylander. For example, Trigger Happy in an area where Tech Skylanders are much stronger can gather the most XP after killing enemies. I tried that when hew as a level one. And the next thing it knew he reached level 5 or 6.

So I tried this on Nightmare today with double XP and managed to get Popthorn from 1 to 20 in about half hour. Once I kill one of the pods, I mop up the rest and restart the level. Don't bother going to second stage or even finish the first stage once all the chompies pods gone.

Tried this with Smolderdash but she died pretty quickly given her low speed and mediocre damage. Maybe I'll give her a shot on Hard next week instead.

Any swapper with shift bottom should be able to handle this well, just make sure you don't get hit or surrounded.

PVP is the fastest way.

Specifically you want to be set to Nightmare, Have all of your plus experience items: You get a +5 XP boost charm from completing the "Perfect Captain" arena level, and there is a +10 XP boost with the Legendary Treasure "Tik Tok Neck Clock" found in Iron Jaw Gulch.

You can do this by yourself. Grab two remotes, choose Arena mode, Ringout, Rampart Ruins. Set number of lives to the maximum of 9, power ups (on) and fair fight (on). Then the character you want to level up just sits still, run the opposite character off the ledge in front of them (instantly killing them). Do this 9 times. Both characters will gain experience and gold. I was getting 6,000+ in experience on the main character and 2,000 plus on the suicide character.

^6000+ EXP for main character & 2000+ for suicide character? Exactly how long is this process for the main character to be at Level 20?

Sorry i wasnt timing, i was doing it with the quest "Win 10 Pvp matches" I'll test it on a level 1 character, but its definately faster than any of the in game ways stated so far, or the regular pvp battles. I know when i got to level 18-20, it takes about 2-3 times to max that level out.
