When i get hit. The armor shield doesnt appear at times like it did in past games. Does it even work. Is my armor stat too low so it barley happens? Is the armor mechanic completley changed?

if abilities that grant bonus armor are to be believed, now armor reduces the damage you take rather than giving a chance to ignore the damage

Yep armor mechanic was changed. Armor reduces damage for every hit instead of receiving no damage for some hits. It's better this way in my opinion.

From my experience with it, it seems to make Hard Mode more realistic than what we have in Giants.

I am loving the new armor mechanic! Really, it's more reliable, solid, and it beats having a chance to just shrug off damage, having a 10% chance to ignore that one hit KO isn't much closure when it actually hits.

Agreed, although it should have been explained better by the game's developers, since it's a significant departure from the Armor mechanics in the previous Skylanders titles.

The way that "Armor" used to be employed in Skylanders games really should have been more accurately labeled "Evasion" ... not "Armor", since it really was a percentage chance to completely evade/ignore the damage from an attack in SSA and Giants.

This is not the first time that I've been mildly annoyed by game developers' choice of term for important character statistics, and it isn't isolated to "kids" games. Playing the Dragon Age games drives me a little batty because their "Attack" score is in actuality an "Accuracy" metric (percentage chance for an attack to strike, rather than whiff), and their "Defense" score is in actuality an "Evasion" metric, similar to the "Armor" metric in the first two Skylanders games (percentage chance to evade/ignore damage completely from an attack).

Sure would be nice if the video gaming developers of the world could have a pow-wow and decide on some consistency with these terms. One word for offensive output (such as "attack" or "damage"), one word for offensive accuracy (such as "accuracy" or "hit percentage"), one word for defensive damage reduction (such as "armor" or "defense") and one word for defensive agility (such as "evasion" or "dodge percentage"). Confusion over these terms across different games with an RPG element (including Skylanders) would sure be nice to eliminate!

in dragon age those stats function exactly as they do in D&D, which the game is based on. but yes, armor in the first two skylanders games was an odd name
