I thought a read in another thread that there was no option to take ownership of an existing skylander figure from a previous game. Can someone please confirm this? I want to be able to take my skylanders from the first two games and use them on the wii-u version getting bonuses for having them associated with the wii-u instead of my xbox 360 copies of the first 2 games.

Does this work or no?

I want to also confirm you can add them to this game with existing upgrades, level, gold etc without a full reset.

Skylanders registered with the original SSA or Giants don't need to be taken ownership of in SSF. If you have multiple systems with SSF you can take ownership as in older games.

You don't need to do a reset to bring in the characters.

The detail confusing some folks is the option to take ownership only appears if the toy isn't owner by you. Also save slots share the same ownership ID - unlike Giants, which had a different ID for each save slot.

I guess I still don't follow this response.

I have the first two skylanders games on xbox360 and also have giants on wii-u. I've purchased swap force on wii-u for my daughter for xmas. I want to know if I can use the old figures and have them count toward figure counts per element/bonuses. Giants would mention that the figure was owned elsewhere and was a guest or something to that effect when you used it on the 2nd platform.

Short answer - yes, but you only need to go into the menu and choose "Take Ownership" if they are linked to another Swap Force game. If they have only been played on the older games, Swap Force treats them as if they were brand new.
