O.k. so I've been playing Swap Force almost every day since release and now the game won't load past the Activision screen. I'm fairly sure it isn't my PS3 since Giants and 3 other PS3 games load and play just fine. Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you fix it?

that happened to me 2 times in a row I took the game disc out and as soon as the activision came up mash triangle so the little loss circle.pops up in the corner

If your logged into the Playstation Network and the network is undergoing maintenance or down the game will freeze. It's been happening since Sunday. If the game freezes log out of your profile and don't sign-in. You can still play offline and whatever trophies you earn will need to be synced to your account the next time you log in. It will still save all your progress of levels completed.

Well I ended up taking it back to TRU and getting another disc. That seems to have fixed it. I was signed in to PSN but I've played everyday since launch without an issue. Activision tech support was worthless with a touch of rude thrown in for good measure. I tried everything though. I deleted the data file, save file, reset video settings, cleaned the laser and cursed a lot. In the end it seems that the disc was the issue. For the life of me though I don't know why it worked this whole time and decided to crap out today. Thank God I saved my save files to a flash drive thinking it would suck if it wasn't the game/save files....starting over would suck.

Hm, this happened to me five times in a row yesterday. I did what the others did: didn't log in to PSN, and mashed the Triangle button through the opening credits.

its activisions servers that act up not psn. this game make activisions millions you would have thought they would have some good servers backing them up. but no its all on a budget to save them money. so make sure to click the sign in the town once everyday. then you get your daily free xp or other things... hopefully this will not become a bigger problem when skylanders4 arrive with online co-op/mp.

Blaze, are you still freezing, or has it not happened since? Can you play signed into PSN now?

For me it worked once I replaced the disc. It was strange that it was working and then it didn't when all my other Playstation games worked just fine. Mortal Kombat also connects to a network and it didn't have any issues while Swap Force was which makes my kind of doubtful that is was a PSN issue.

I'm considering getting a PS3 version, how did replacing your disk go? Mail in for a replacement?

I took it back to TRU. It was the fastest way of doing it.

So now we have evidence that platforms (PS3 and now Wii/Wii U) have problems when the system logs in online?

I was thinking about when you first put in the game, it ask to install game info on your PS3. So I put my PS3 into safe mode and rebuilt the data base and restored the file system. While restoring the file system there was a message that popped up that said there was an error and the file system must be restored. Once that was done my loading was faster and I wasn't freezing anymore. I do this at least twice a month and did this BEFORE installing Swap Force. Try using the cloud save option if you have PS+ and delete your game saves and try a new save to see if that helps.

Rebuilding the file system twice a month? That's quite intensive. I've NEVER done that on my system....EVER. Docs from PS3 that explains why and if this is best practice?

I'm constantly downloading new games and syncing my Vita to it. There's an article on the PS forums that explains this. I played Dust and DC Online a lot and they read and write info on it all the time, along with the new updates it's a strain on the HDD.
