Heck, you may not even need the variants now, outside of Hot Head and Eye Brawl.

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but I placed Super Gulp Pop Fizz on Giants to get him some money and he registered as Special. You might want to check your Series 2/3 landers on Giants to see how many Specials you can get.

I think Matteomax mentioned it (that the Series 3 rang up Special on Giants).
Personally I wish they could ring up Series characters correctly even on previous editions. There should be some common data all editions of the game for it to read appropriately. It doesn't make sense for a Series 3 to ring up as Special...because they're NOT.

Well, it just means I never needed the chase variants, except those who didn't make it to Swap Force, like Stump Smash, Zook, Eye Brawl, Hot Head, etc.

It does cheapen them really. They are making a very good case for me not to pursue then anymore bc of stuff like this.

Seriously, if you think about it, you could buy Hot Head, Eye Brawl, Wrecking Ball, Lightning Rod, Zook, Sonic Boom, Stump Smash, and that should be it to get all Specials, seeing as -
S3 Hot Dog S2 Sprocket S2 Prism Break S3 Gill Grunt S3 Chop Chop S3 Whirlwind S3 Eruptor would replace the chase variants. I might have missed some, but that's cause I'm in a rush. I'm tempted to see how many Specials I can get in Giants now, using whatever characters I have.

I'd almost hope that'd help drive the price of the older ones down but I have a feeling it won't...Sparkle Boom and Glow Boom both only count as 'Special' yet one goes for big bucks and the other cheap, respectively. At this point no more than 50 apiece for them is what my wallet says.
Have you tried lightcores like Warnado on it yet? |
