Yeah that path is more for PvE, you won't have very many (if any) enemies in PVP that you can eat or shoot...

I haven't tried Slobber Tooth in PvP, so I'm not sure.

Of course. But *****in' 'bout it got me a response a might bit quicker.
I wonder if his "vacuum" ability will have pvp Viability. It would be nice if the bite attack applied The snot rocket dot. (Untested) |

He seems like a prime candidate for the bottom tier in PVP matches, in general. His main draw in PVE is that he can eat enemies, but I don't even think he'd be that good in PVE if he could eat you. He's just too slow. A good player wouldn't allow Slobber Tooth to get near.

^ Yeah, this. His tail-shockwave upgrade down the tail path is actually fairly powerful, but he can't move around much while using it and it's interruptable, so that's sort of useless for PVP since a decent player will stop it totally. Bite attacks become completely useless down this path, and jaw melee is just average close-up attacking. Slobber Tooth is probably my favourite PVE character of the new lot so far- or Bumble Blast- but sadly, he isn't seriously usable against any of the decent PVP characters.
I haven't tried the eating path yet but I don't expect it to fare great in PVP.

In one of his trailers, he had a tail shockwave attack that launched homing blasts of dirt or something along the ground, giving him some range. maybe that'll make him a bit better at PvP?

^ I covered that in the post above yours. It's an upgrade down his tail path. You use it by holding down the third attack button. It sends out little cracks in the ground- they don't home (they go straight) but they usually aim towards enemies.
It's interruptable and doesn't launch very fast- it's also very easy to avoid by jumping, and makes Slobber Tooth slow and unable to avoid anything coming at him. It does 65 damage, but in SF, that just isn't that much and with all the problems Slobber has it certainly doesn't save him. I did a more detailed run-through of him on the PVP tier thread.
