I play the game with my son on occasion and I have a few favorites:

Wham Shell
Voo Dood
Flameslinger
Gill Grunt
Ignitor
Chill

I'd like to pick up a new swap force character on release day to level up with my son and have yet to see all the new core characters gameplay videos. I thought I'd ask the board based on your knowledge of the new characters and my previous favorites which one I should pick up (I don't want to just play a reposed character).

I think a good place to start is, Which element does your son like most, then once you know that you can narrow down the options

Its quite hard to say as you have a mix of melee/ranged weapons. Fast/slow characters and three elements so I would ask what he likes in a character (Its power, element, look, abilities or maybe weapon)

^This, I like Undead, so I feel a need to pick up every Undead character as they come-out.

Though viewing your list of favs, I note a particular liking towards the Water element with interest in Fire too. This could mean little as one of my favs is Stealth Elf yet I rather dislike the Life element.


Anyway, I've looked your list over, and I think Punk Shock and possibly Smolderdash could be good.

Though between those 2 only LC Smolderdash will be available on release day.


This is also jsut a guess. It would help a little more as mentioned before to know some the things you and your son like in a character.

hmmm... well I'm curious... I mean will your son being using all three of the Skylanders in the Starter pack?

Well either way i susgest using a Swapforce skylander. Mainly, this is because it'd help you and your son to have that one more movement type not in the game. Plus you'd ave alot of fun swapping with your son


so if he isn't I'd suggest using Wash Buckler, after all like Seiki susgested, you might enjoy him since you seem to like a majority of the water types.


If no, try picking up magna charge. from the game play video he'll be a nice swap action for you to do with him being able to increase the speed of the slower yet strong, Wash Buckler and Blast Zone. As well as give you access to the speed areas.

If you like Wham Shell, pick up Slobbertooth.
If you like Voodood, pick up Scratch (Not At Launch) or LightCore Grim Creeper (At Launch).
If you like Flameslinger and Gill Grunt, pick up Punk Shock later.
If you like Ignitor, pick up Countdown.
If you like Chill, pick up Hoot Loop or Roller Brawl.

Wash buckler
You will have it day one definitely

Or Rattle shake (single pack is out day 1)

I'd reccomend hoot loop. His teleporting attacks are powerful
