Okay, I'm sure a million other people have said this before but I feel like I need to say it again. There ARE a lot of variants this game, but everyone needs to stop complaining. If you don't like them, don't buy them. It's plain and simple. If you're a collector then why are you complaining in the first place? You are collecting because it's fun to you, right? You chose to collect them. Yeah, it's pricey, but just don't get the ones you don't want. If anything, I would be happy with the new variants, more means more chances to like one. Plus, they make great gifts for people who already have all of the individual characters. Even better, THEY ARE IN-GAME!! Not just a differently painted figure. I know some people just don't like a variant's design, and that's fine. Simply don't get it and move on. Sorry, I know many people have already heard someone say it, but I just felt I needed to make a topic to tell the people who haven't heard it. Sorry for the rant.

The Variants Make Me Sad Cause They Are Shifting Away From The Skylander Feel And More Marketing Gimics. And Srry For The Odd Caps Phone Being Really Weird And I Don't Know How To Fix it

That's okay. I feel like that too... But since I'm not a collector I just buy what I want it helps a little.

Every Skylanders game, there is a set of variants made. If you don't like them, don't waste your time and money buying them.

I collected all the variants from giants and adventure so I am very hesitant to collect or not collect. I don't want to miss out on the opportunityr and regret it later

Ehh I don't get my shorts in a twist over variants. It's just adding variety to the mix. I can't see anything wrong with that. As the o.p. stated if you don't like it don't get it. I could have seen this complaint in Giants since they only added 16 new Skylanders. Swap Force is adding 32 new Skylanders to the mix plus variants and Series remakes so the variants clearly aren't taking away from the creative process. I have no interest in variants (anymore) that don't look different in game. To me those are the shameless cash grabs. They also don;t upset me either, they're just there. However variants like Jade Flash Wing, Gnarly Tree Rex, Polar Whirl Wind are awesome because they are new models both in game and in person.

I think one of the problems is that they are making them so "obvious" this time. I feel like even Giants was pushing it.
You're right that we don't have to buy them- but that doesn't mean we can't criticise it if we find problems that frustrate us with it. Besides, some of the variants look clearly better than old ones(Legendarygrimvolcaniceruptornitromagnachargecduidbfhdb...), which is frustrating because they're typically harder to get, and some people would prefer to have a the version they like and not need to search high and low. Remember the backlash for Dark Spyro in the first game? Another problem is how they release them. Royal Double Trouble deeply worries me! Are they going to do more country-exclusive variants this game? And there's a certain point where waiting months to see a recolour pop up here just reaches frustrating levels(yes, it took months for several of the variants to come over here), and otherwise, you pay premium to just have them, and it can be pretty hard to get a reasonable price with some... I haven't seen many people really criticising it but that doesn't mean they're upset for no valid reason. The "if you don't like it, don't get it" argument is one of the stupidest ever.

I only collec the ones that look different in game and I want to keep that up but IM torn. I didn't care about p ibrawl because he wasn't an in game but these new holiday and event don't sit well and I don't think I'll really play them but I don't want to break my collection in a sense. I probably won't decide until I see them in person. if they look as bad in person pains me to say but I will pass. if theylook okay it's only a few more bucks

What if you want them but can't afford them?
(Not me) Kickoff countdown with a football head sucks... I hate football.

While I think Kick Off Countdown is cool I think they missed a huge opportunity in not making it Kick Off Wrecking Ball...I mean come on!!! He'd turn into a Soccer Ball when he's doing his super power ball attack (can't remember the name). That seems like it would have been money in the bank.

I agree with shadowfox. I want to collect them all even if I don't like a certain character that much. I hate that they are releasing so many this time around. I mean I can understand if they were releasing 32 or so like the first game but they keep making the numbers bigger. I also agree that they are playing more off the market than just the game. I just wonder what they are going to do when they run out of figure ideas. Releasing so many in one go is like putting all your ideas out there and save none for the next game. The variants are a little out there. I may ot may not get them. Depends on what I'm able to. In the end I still want to collect them. Yes, it is fun!

Agreed with those who said it's just a cash grab. What does Countdown have to do with soccer? Why does Trigger Happy or Bumble Blast need to celebrate holidays? I understand it's their job to make money but you could do it without being obvious.

If you dont "have to caught them all" then variants are fine. It gives you options if you want diffrent stuff. i for one loved jade flashwing and molten hotdog over their normals, however I liked reg ninjini over scarlet. I loves gnarly over regular.
So bring them on and get what you want. If you dont want to blow alot them skip the doubles. |
