Some old jackets have what appears to be a belt and buckle on the bottom, so it could be one of those.

The Story Reason: It's how some of them have to keep their body parts together.

The Actual reason: It's a design element for the toy. All of the Bottom halves will have raised edges around the magnet so if the Magnet on one half reversed polarity you could still set the top and bottom halves on each other.
