Look at that symbol next to Camo, it's S3!
You know what this means?
It means that the Series depends on how old the character is. So all the SSA characters are 3 games old, so they are S3. It also means that in the next game, if they repose the forgotten 8 or, the characters who got a S2 but not a S3, they would be S4. Here's a chart;
SSA
SSA-S1
SG
SSA-S2
SG-S1
SSF
SSA-S3
SG-S2
SSF-S1
Game 4
SSA-S4
SG-S3
SSF-S2
Game 4-S1
See what I mean?

Come to think of it, that was confusing me that people were saying that Camo was going to be a series 2 because I thought he had no series 2 release. For the sake of not driving people mad, it would make far more sense to call all the newest Skylander versions as "Series 3".

I actually have that image and the compatibility chart on my side, and your side has? Speculation, biased sources, and rumors. Also when I'm right can you throw your Skylanders in my trash can please!? Quote: WickedRogue
Well, yes but go to Skylanders.com/swapforce then look at the compatibility chart, it shows that S2 characters only work in SG and SSF, while S3 characters work in all three games.

I'm pretty sure a character doesn't morph from a series 1 to series 2 to series 3 from game to game to game. That's quite a stretch. It's already known that the compatbility chart are for those with no brain matter between the years. I will say this--my current logic and understanding supersedes this stupid poster. Maybe they've changed things up, but I do know that Activision doesn't even seem to know how to market past present and future figures. Whatever they decide here should firm it up...they can't change a figure after it's been released. That would be...sooooo...stupid. I might as well be dramatic; look at the posts I have to endure here on a daily basis. Btw, where's the entire poster? I need 1080p please.

The series designation on the packaging should help the consumer know what is being purchased, especially consumers who do not know much about Skylanders. With giant Skylanders, it did not matter what series you called it because it is highly unlikely that giant Skylanders will be a normal thing, and it was obvious that the giant ones were released for the Skylanders Giants game, as it said on the box. When it comes to rereleases like Camo that are brand new for Swap Force, it will probably make more sense for the uneducated consumer to say it's a series 3 character so that the person buying it, who may be some kid's relative that doesn't collect the figures, knows that it's the latest release. Otherwise you'd see a whole lot of "series 3" boxes alongside a brand new Camo "series 2", and a consumer who doesn't know any better would think that the series 2 Camo was old when it's not. Therefore, if they have any sense, they will market all the newest ones as series 3 to help people understand that these are all brand new. As far as collectors and fans like us are concerned, we already know the deal with all of the Skylanders so it's not going to matter to us that much what they call it. Now, I'm not saying that this is how it's going to be handled. I just think the OP's statement is possibly true, from a logical business standpoint.

I don't have it, and you don't need it is 1080, never mind that you don't need it at all. All you need is to see Camo and how it says S3. I agree that Activision doesn't know how to plan ahead in the market but I can say that I actually think that this is a smart, logical choice.

If we're going to be Spock here...it is illogical to call a character Series 3 when there were no Series 2 of that character. The bottoms of the figure should tell you where the figure came from. If Camo actually rings up in game as Series 3 then the bottoms of the characters are rather redundant. So, if they wait 10 games to re-introduce Boomer, we're going to have a Series 1 and Series 11 Boomer? Yeaaahhhh..... Notice the illogical perspective of how Warnado isn't Series 3...why not? Oh, that's a lightcore. Get where I'm going chief? I'm of the opinion that the poster is wrong....we shall see. Activision should actually come up with a video explaining this. I know ATVIAssist is around...this would be actually something useful they could help us with. But no, they probably can only respond to broken disks and figures.

And no thanks to inconsistent communication by Activision. I think it's all nailed now.
1. All figures start with Series 1, regardless of the game they are introduced. 2. If a figure gets a repose (not a LC), then it goes up in the Series count. 3. The game the character gets released has nothing to do with the series number. That's what the colors on the bottom is for. Take it to the bank now, folks.

That's not a poster, that's the back of the box, kind of important to get it right there (but then again Hoot Loop seems to have a mistake on the front of his ). For other errors in the videos you just need to take a look at Blizzard Chill and Lava Barf Eruptor.

It's hard to say what's older, the video or the box art. Either way we'll know for sure in a few weeks. Personally the series always made more sense if it referred to the release of the figure not the current game wave. The Skylander site says he's a Series 2. It's still confusing though. Super Gulp Pop Fizz and Turbo Jet-Vac are Series 3 while Blizzard Chill and Heavy Duty Sprocket are Series 2...I am truly confused. Here are the links:

This topic just shows how Activision/TFB dropped the ball when numbering the figures. If people on a forum dedicated to skylanders has trouble following the numbering imagine what the laymen casual buyer is thinking.
They should of kept it simple Green base = series 1, Orange base = Series 2. Blue Base = Series 3. I should also note that I fully understand how they have done the numbering, that base = game and series relates to abilities. Here is an example of where the numbering can get confusing Series 2 legenday Slam Bam I've had people ask me where they can get Series 1 legendary slam bam.

It's only a problem if you try to apply a universal rule, rather than treating each game's series designations separately: Giants: Series 2 = works with SSA, Series 1= doesn't* Swap Force: Series 3 = works with SSA/SG, Series 2 = works with SG but not SSA, Series 1 = SF-only *for certain values of "doesn't work" for Legendary/Light Core figures, but they are technically missing features in the older game Quote: [url=http://forum.darkspyro.net/spyro/viewposts.php?topic=88408&post=4647571
That's "simple" untll you realize that it doesn't differentiate between the Giants-only and Giants+SSA characters in the Swap Force series. Then you need another label... which is functionally identical to how the series labels are being used, putting you right back at square 1! |

Hey--it's listed as Camo Series 2 with video--so that's 2/3. I just noticed Pop Fizz and Jet Vac are Series 3. I give up. Activision doesn't know what they have or are selling. It looks very bad...do they have interns running their marketing department? Why call Series 1 "First Edition" but Series 2 etc. They are so over the map on terminology it's a joke. Would be nice if they change Series 2 Hot Dog to the proper name, too. Quote: HamsterExAstris
The game is facing a Hobson's Choice, frankly. The compatibility chart is technically incorrect and confusing, and either way you label the series it won't give you everything. For me, it's easy...if the character existed in previous games, it works. How is that complicated? The color of the bottoms indicate what year the character is released, and the Series notation indicates what generation of character (regardless of gap between characters) you are using.
