Hello everyone, this is my first time getting the console version instead of the 3DS version and I got some questions. I know that upgrades work really differently and upgrades cost coins, I got 24 skylanders from the older games leveled up to 15 in the 3ds version, I'm just wondering about how long does it usually take to fully level up each character and buy all the upgrades needed for them and how do upgrades transfer over from the 3ds to console, and in the 3ds version you can use 2 characters at once and switch between them at any point in the level, can you switch between characters at any point in the level, and overall the main difference between console and 3ds version. Thanks

Im know nothing about the 3ds version but leveling up is tricky it takes patience but once you unlock the last level continue to replay and i can fully level and upgade a character in less than 15 min

I have 100% completion on the first 3DS game and about halfway through the first Skylanders game on the Wii, so I think I can help you here.
There is a bit more customization on the major console releases, and levels don't mean much more than hit points. You need to buy the skills with coins, and you get to choose a specialization once you've bought the core upgrades. There are some tricks to getting coins very quickly which you may want to look into if you don't want to grind out 15,000 coins with every single Skylander the long way. For example, if you own the treasure chest item that helps a lot. Supposedly there is a trick with the final level, as well, where you can earn a lot of money quickly. Leveling up a character takes no time at all, but the characters really only gain a lot more power with skill upgrades and heroic challenges. Every character you use in the game unlocks a heroic challenge for that character, and every character has to complete every other character's heroic challenges to gain the stat bonuses from them. Doing all the heroic challenges on every character would be very time consuming, but that's okay because the challenges are at least sort of fun, the first 10 times anyway. They're certainly better than grinding levels on most role playing games. One thing I will caution you about, if you are interested in doing every single heroic challenge for every character: Double Trouble's challenge may be impossible to complete on some characters after they leveled up because you need to kill trolls without breaking vases, and some characters simply have too much firepower after leveling. Zook, on the other hand, can't complete it without upgrading his cactuses until they do damage, since his bazooka blows up too much stuff. All of what I am saying applies to the first game. I haven't played Giants yet, but I assume most of what I say applies to it. |

Ive never gotten the 3ds version so I cant compare. I usually like to upgrade about 3 or 4 favorites so it can take sometime if you are starting a new game and 0 level characters. Then you have to find the perfect level that aims more toward experience or money. The higher the level, the higher the experience. Money is tricky if you want all the upgrades. I usually end up at Max level long before I'm done with the upgrades. It takes me a while but if there is one particular figure you want Max out it can be quick if you just stick to that one.

That doesnt sound bad it seems like the hardest thing to do is getting the money for all the upgrades
