Shipping and packaging is plain and simple in my experience ... you get exactly what you pay/paid for.
NEVER ship a new/boxed Skylander in a bubble envelope or padded envelope or padded mailer or bubble mailer or anything else that resembles an envelope in any way. If you do that, you are begging for the item to become damaged in transit. Does the item ALWAYS get damaged in an envelope? Well, no ... it's POSSIBLE that it could arrive intact ... but you're playing with fire and taking a big risk in my opinion. Use a shipping box. Period. Uline.com has superb boxes, not expensive, and same-day shipping. If you only need one or two boxes, just grab them from Staples or OfficeMax or Target or WalMart or wherever. Inside the box, you have several options for stuffing/packaging. For common Skylanders, crumpled newspaper or shredded office paper and plastic bubble wrap are adequate. For collector's items, definitely use foam peanuts (preferably biodegradable ones) and/or air-filled plastic packets. As for which shipping carrier ... the most cost-efficient method that doesn't suck is USPS Priority Mail. The Post Office offers "Flat Rate" boxes for a decent price to anywhere in the 50 states + Puerto Rico. However, since Skylanders don't usually weigh a lot (except for Thumpback), it's usually better to just pay for Priority Mail "by the pound" (rather than "Flat Rate"). There is no need to use FedEx or UPS for shipping just one or a few Skylanders, unless the Buyer demands it for some reason. FedEx and UPS will KILL you on their prices for lightweight items ... it's absurd what they charge (often $20 and up!) compared to USPS Priority Mail (usually $5-8). The only time that using FedEx or UPS makes sense is if you are shipping a LOT of Skylanders ... since the prices for FedEx/UPS become a lot more reasonable (compared to USPS) as the weight of your package increases beyond just 2-3 pounds.

OnTopic: I put them in shipping boxes that you can buy at local walmarts, and instead of Newspaper, I wrap the figure package with Plastic Shopping Bags.

Bahamut: Excellent recommendations. Never use bubble mailers, and I in fact get my boxes from uline.com.

Update: I didn't know this but if the package is under 13 ounces, you can use first-class packaging. the length and girth have to add up to be less than 108.
I payed like 4 bucks or less to ship out some skylanders that I had. |

Yep! Good call ... as long as you're shipping just one lightweight Skylander per box, you can probably get away with USPS First Class Package rates. Only bummer is that you may have to pay extra for insurance and/or tracking on First Class, while those extras are included in the price for Priority Mail. And depending on how crotchety the employees are at your Post Office, be very sure that your box is under 13 ounces. Sometimes they'll balk and screw-up your shipment if it weighs 13.1 ounces or more (believe me, it's happened to me!)
