The Soundtrack; no Spyro game has ever reached it in originality and it has (in my opinion) done the absolute best job of creating the exact feel of an upbeat cartoon/fantasy world.

The Sound Effects; It's intangible as to why, but there's something so wonderful about the sound of those games. Whether I was flaming sheep, ramming Gnorcs, collecting gems, breaking thier containers, chasing a thief, doing a speedway, or just hearing the scenery, the sounds in all thier combinations were as creative and fantastic as the music played over them.

The Characters; I was going to specify Spyro but all the characters were so much better back then. They weren't over dramatic like those in LOS or undeveloped like in Skylanders, and though they are minimally/underdeveloped in the old games it was forgivable since the old games weren't story driven like LOS.

The Look; Especially those skies! Like the music it was a perfectly fitting representation of a light cartoon fantasy world; it was creative and artistic and those gorgeous, blended, colorful, starry skies were sweet icing on the cake!

I guess the nostalgic factor of the old Spyro games for me is that they were the first games I ever had. I remember getting them back in 2000, and loving the ever-living hell out of them. I remember going through each world and looking in fascination at the worlds, enemies, etc. Gameplay was (and still is) fantastic to me, although I admit that Spyro 1 is a little "floaty" nowadays. I can still remember as a kid flipping through the manuals in awe and fascination at what I could do in the Spyro games. Now with the advent of the internet, I know a hell of a lot more about the games I love to death. BRB going to hug my Spyro games again smilie

This is a bit of an odd one, but my most nostalgic memory is of hopping around whilst doing the charge attack at the same time. I don't know why, but that always felt like an adrenaline rush to me. It never felt the same way in any of the Spyro games post-Spyro the Dragon. Many happy hours were wasted hopping around the dragon realms.

Oh, and also Spyro's closing lines about Gnasty Gnorc being "toast", but that's just me.

Yes. Not just the gem collecting sound itself, but the little noise that Sparx makes too. Both of those are nostalgia inducing.

Has anyone noticed in the demo of the first Spyro game, Sparx doesn't make a buzzing sound when he goes to collect a gem for Goonro.

All the background / OST music: Listen to the sounds in 8-bits, and some in 16-bit, repetitive rhythms, classical, as "little kid", but with the style of little dragon, those rhythms of danger were the best.

Also the sound effects (SFX). His flame, gems, enemies, the hits, when Spyro run, more ... and other details.

Having the privilege of completing the game 100% or more, when one of little kid, that was one of the best achievements (extra content, or special ending also included).

What exactly is "Old Spyro" reffering to? 1? 1-3? 1-5?

The most nostalgic thing about 1-3 is from the demo probably for me.

The sound effect for when you select something (like yes or no, or anything in the menu).

It has that magical, joyful sound to it.
